Lemoine in Group Popovych - Is there anything this man can't do? No, because that's the reason I chose him. Great stage. Would have been better with Mosquera...
I would have said Romania too. Lived there for a year and it would have been wrong. Oh my.

Thought about that too, but then I realised it was too easy. Then Chad popped up in my mind.

Actually because it would have been too easy, I thought it was correct. Giving us a freebie after the previous tough nuts to crack.
Great news by the way from Cartoon Network HQ: Apparently we have made already more points in these 2 weeks of the Tour of the Chosen than in all 3 weeks of the previous edition (+ the Bonus Points of Overall). That's great news and obviously Cartoon Network signals a further contract extension for T.O.T.C. 5

Well Jerome has nicked past Popo, that is pretty awesome but Pate is looking hungry!
It is tightening up but stages are running out, I wonder is ghys has this sewn up.

STAGE 16: Ayer Tawer - Cameron Highlands 137 KM
Stage Favourites:
*****Hernandez(NOK) ****Rodriguez(CAC) ***Garate(IBA)
**Zandio(BLU) *Duggan(IBA)
Some of the 'cobblers' up there in GC proved they could handle the shorter steep climb in Oman but how would they fare with 50+ KM uphill today?
Kozontchuk: in the early break again.
The Russian has been at the top of more KOM sectors more times than anyone else in this TOTC and few can doubt he is the most aggressive rider in the early breaks.
With 80 KM to go a 17 man group has 3'00 over the peloton. They are caught with 65 KM to go as the break was deemed to large as the climbing starts.
Boaro (Banco do Brasil) has '40 over the peloton with 55 KM to go when three quality riders attack out of the peloton. They are: De Maar, Deignan and Mizbani.
47 KM to go: the 4 man break are @ 2'00 and Pantano attacks out of the peloton.
The Borussia Dortmund rider would bridge across to the break before the top of the penultimate climb tops off with 30 KM to go.
The hard pace is causing many to suffer.....
34 KM to go: the 4 man break have 2'20 over the peloton (Boaro has been dropped).
Lemoine attacks and he is soon followed by many of the big names. El Fares, Pate and Hernandez attack over the top of the penultimate climb and T-Mobile up the chase immediately, putting many riders into difficulty. The peloton is down to 50 riders, notably van Hecke is not there and Ghyselinck is struggling to hang in there.
The YELLOW JERSEY IS DROPPED!
With 17 KM to go and 7 KM of the final climb to go Ghyselinck, despite his strong team on the front of the peloton, is well dropped. At this stage he is 1'00 down on the Hansen group....
Hernandez is the only rider between the strong breakaway group and the big favourites as the top of the final climb is approaching....
The original 4 man break are still out front and Hernandez '30 behind them as they hit the top of the final climb.. Not too far behind Popovych attacks with Lemoine, Samoilau and Rodriguez and then the Ukraine rider attacks again.......
The 4 strong riders would fight it out today with the descent to the finish ahead.....
Hernandez, couldn't bridge across, and is '30 down with 2 KM to go and the favourites group is over 1'00 down on the four riders. The Popovych attack came to nothing so he, Lemoine, Pate, Gutierrez and Hansen will ride home together. Ghyselinck is some time down and is even struggling to follow his teammates on the descent, he is not out of the GC picture, but at this stage, he knows he has lost the yellow jersey today.
Back to the front...... Mizbani descends the quickest and creates a small gap with 500 metres to go....can the Iranian hold on for the win?
Pantano takes the win!
The Colombian salutes the sun gods as he crosses the line. Mizbani did have a decent advantage with 200 metres to go, but the strong Colombian gritted his teeth and had another level to enter to take win no.2 for Borussia Dortmund.
The new GC leader Hansen comes home just over 1'00 down, leading a select group of favourites. Ghyselinck, after 11 glorious days in yellow, has to resign the yellow today after such a good stage in Oman. Lemoine is breathing down the neck of van Hecke for a top 10 spot.

Lemoine is breathing down the neck of van Hecke for a top 10 spot.
Lemoine is like freaking amazing! Basically everywhere a champ and he's officially only a domestique. Pretty sure he has chances on stage 17 to win even a stage. I'm afraid the late Mountain Team Time Trial will break our chances of a possible Top 10 though, since our two best climbers are missing.

That final TTT will likely be a bit of a decider for sure.
Jerome slipped back there, and now the GC podium looks out of reach. Certainly the GC win is likely out of the question.
Sort of cheering for Hansen now.

He's the coolest guy in the peloton already and now he's also the best rider? Where will it stop?

Correct!
-- Ollfardh - There was also a stage report there.... this isn't just a flag guessing game in case you didn't notice............
Smowz - some teams are missing multiple riders, I will post the revised start list before the TTT.
-- Shonak - Great support as ever. I would say the TTT is more of a hilly route than mountainous, but teams with multiple riders up there in GC should do well. I reckon some teams will lost well over 3'00. |
