That was a quick response! Thanks Hobbit for you reply. I think it's nice you still create items for the 13 version. I just got into this game last month and have been thinking of the '14 version, but I'm just starting to get comfortable with the changes I have made to it!
You are perceptive with my interest in that particular race. I was racing junior (from Canada) and our coach got us into some races in the Carolinas (which caused a stir with my parents and my school!) but we stopped off to watch the Tour du Pont stage that finished at Winter Green that finished in a downpour and thunderstorm. It was an amazing event to attend and see the pros up close and dying!
Unfortunately, the information on the race is really lacking, at least from what I can tell. I cannot find a stage to stage list or graphic through google. The closest I can find is a city to city list for the 1994 edition which would be fine

I found some articles that were nicely digitized on the Baltimore Sun archive, but they also do not give a stage by stage mapping. I will try to find some old cycling magazines, perhaps I have some from that time period, but I'm not confident.
I do have a question to add. I am getting familiar with the mapping sites to create a .gpx file, but when I attempt to add it into the stage editor, it cuts off part of the route. I saw somewhere, but cannot find the post where it mentions what ratio to start from on the map.

This immense Mountain Time Trial takes in the sights of the Alps, for over a hundred km, even finishing on one of the hardest climbs in Italy. It should be a challenge for any rider to finish, never mind post a respectable result. In case you were wondering, the download also contains a mountain road race version, (the v1 version.
Thank you, you are very quick, I'll try both

Croatian National Championships
The Croatian National Championships take a route through the mountains near Kosinski Bakovac, in the Highlands of Croatia. It should be one for an attacker or a break, but a strong team could hold things together over the top for a very hardy sprinter.

Thanks guys. For the Tour du Pont, I would appreciate some extra information, it does not have to be stage by stage, but some general info, what type of stage race is it (hilly, sprinters, tt, mountainous) and general whereabouts. |

Hi Hobbit! I too have come up with little information on the internet (unbelievable I know!) and I have no old magazines going back that far. There is some route information from the '94 edition which would be fun. I don't care about exact routes to be honest, just a course from the start city to the finish city. At the time there were a few hilly stages with one finish at the Wintergreen resort in Virginia as I mentioned that took place in '91.
From this link of the '94 course https://news.googl...15,6495023
prologue - Wilmington Delaware
st 1 - Most likely a circuit race from Dover to Wilmington Delaware
st 2 - Port Deposit Del, - Hagerstown Maryland
st 3 - Fredricksburg Maryland - Richmond Virginia
st 4 - Richmond Va - Lynchburg Va
st 5 - Salem Va - Roanoke Va Time Trial
st 6 - Lynchburg - Blacksburg, Va
st 7 - Wytheville Va - Beech Mountain resort Va
st 8 - Grove Park Inn (Ashville I think) - Charlotte Va
st 9 - Concord - High Point (both in Va) |

Hey, The Hobbit, I have a question. Is it possible to also upload the other stages of the cobbles and hills tour?
Because I've finally finished my DB and things, and if I download the file from the title when u posted it, it's only 3 MB and it only contains stage 8. |

Tour du Pont
This reincarnation of the classic American race is a very interesting one. It hasp plenty of opportunities for the sprinters, but the overall is wide open. A time trial rider who can hold on through a climb, or a climber who could hold on in a time trial could win, but really it is a race for the pure stage racers.
The race begins with a short prologue in Delaware, enough to set a leaderboard, but not to decide a race.
Then the seemingly endless number of flat stages begin. This one is flat, and a stage.
This stage is flat, except for a climb near the end. Some riders may attempt to break away, but it seems unlikely to do anything bar deadening a few legs for the sprint.
This stage is flat. In fact, some may even go so far as to call it a 'flat stage'.
Wait, stop the presses, this stage is not completely flat! There is a small climb near the end, not that it should matter that much, but a nasty gradient so near the finish could annoy some trains.
This short time trial should only prove to further sway the jersey in the favour of the time trialists, and they will need all the time they have for the next two stages.
The first hilly stage is full of hills. In particular the two near the end in short succession should decide the winning group, and the win may be decided on the descent, or the final slightly uphill finish.
This is the final, and hardest hilly stage. The last climb is hard, but not that hard, yet you can still expect a big split, enough to decide the final GC.
This may look like just another flat stage at first sight, but it is actually a constant up and down, possibly enough to make a few sprinters uncomfortable, but little else.
Unsurprisingly the last stage is a pretty boring flat one, for the out and out sprinters.

Thank you very much Hobbit! I think you captured the essence of the race. Were you able to find any information on DuPont in the 90's online anywhere? I had a heck of a time finding key information other than what I supplied earlier.
Again, thank you for taking the time to work on my request, I'll try it out first thing tonight.

Have participated in two stages thus far and I'm really enjoying the stages Hobbit. You created a nice, rural, farming backdrop which pretty much matches the real world terrain. Thank you again! |
