The team are doing fantastic.
Am I being greedy if I ask for one of the smaller name riders to win for Dual Temp! |

@ sutty68: Nerz is on fire! He is ranked 2 in Continental
@ welker3257: it is a shame to use a +5 in form for a stage we would have won anyway and 17'' lead
@ The Rider: I got it, but it is not the way I play this game My objective was to start with one of the smallest team and to win the game as quickly as possible with no db edit and dificult level.
I've built my French story very much inspired by your style and way of playing
I will try translate it to see if you (and some other) like it or not. (Provided you are indulgent on my English...) You may see small riders winning races
But here comes the crucial time of the seaon: recruitment.
So I am looking for as good advises as the one I received last year
So our budget is huge this year: 79k/month.
Here is the list of Top Gun riders that are available. (Filter age<30 then by biggest salary)
Which one to select first?
Can I target a big Gun like Nibali or should I better choose 2 with a salary around 25k?
What profil should I recruit first? Second?
How many riders to recruit in total?
In a word what strategy for this season recruitments?
Ah in case you need here his the team we've got with their notes updated.
And I now got serious hope of riding WT next year

I'd definately look to bring in quite a few of the cheaper wage riders as you could use the depth if you do promote.
I'd probably set the priority order as:
TVG
GVA
Oss
Poels
Appollonio
although the first 2 could be switched.
TVG because he's an american and will please the sponsors and seems fairly good value considering his wage.
GVA seems quite well rounded, and him and Roelandts would make a nice double for the Cobbles, plus he would be an outsider for the ardennes classcis if you promote.
Oss because he would be a good sprinter and is fairly good on the hills so should win plenty of reduced bunch sprints
Poels would be a good man for GC, especailly if you promote or get wildcards for stage races next year.
Apollonio because he's a good sprinter on cheap wages and would be a good rider to sign if you miss out on Oss or as his leadout if you've got enough wages for both as that's an area you are slightly lacking currently.

Stage 1- Flat
“Jurgen, it is your last race before your long break. Totally flat 3 days race. You must beat Dumoulin and deny Cofidis huge points!”
Cofidis and us ensure a sprint finish. Dumoulin has taken Roelandts's wheel so no one is launching the sprint. When Klemme accelerates, Dumoulin takes his wheel. Roelandts takes 1 second to react. With 1 km to it costs him the victory…
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | 2h24'58 | 2 | Jürgen Roelandts | Dual Temp | s.t. | 3 | Domenik Klemme | Bretagne - Schuller | s.t. |
Stage 2 –Flat
Same stage as yesterday, except Roelandts takes Dumoulin’s wheel. And he does the mistake to launch the sprint too early. Roelandts is then offered an easy stage win and the yellow jersey!
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Jürgen Roelandts | Dual Temp | 5h05'26 | 2 | Domenik Klemme | Bretagne - Schuller | s.t. | 3 | Wesley Kreder | Rabobank Continental Team | s.t. |
Stage 3 – Flat
“With yesterday’s win and a hilly profile in the 50 last kilometres, the main goal is to keep everyone’s energy to help Jurgen in the final”.
And a break is indeed going to succeed. Not an issue as Dumoulin is winning the bunch sprint…
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Jérôme Coppel | Saur - Sojasun | 3h46'28 | 2 | Michael Berling | An Post - Sean Kelly | s.t. | 3 | Jérémy Roy | FDJ - BigMat | s.t. | 8 | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | + 1'43 | 9 | Jürgen Roelandts | Dual Temp | s.t. |
Final GC
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Jürgen Roelandts | Dual Temp | 11h18'19 | 2 | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis, le crédit en ligne | + 6 | 3 | Domenik Klemme | Bretagne - Schuller | s.t. | 4 | Wesley Kreder | Rabobank Continental Team | + 12 | 5 | Olivier Chevalier | Wallonie Bruxelles - Credit Agricole | + 13 |
Points - Jürgen Roelandts
Mountain - Bert De Waele
Stage 1 – Flat
“Carson your job is to win the the KoM and it starts today! Dominique, you are our only leader on this HC race but I believe you can get a Top 5 and maybe one of the two hilly stage.”
The team works to ensure Miller gets the Mountain point and he does. Then an unknown local rider gets his moment of glory with a nice margin and a chance to keep the yellow tomorrow.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Tino Thömel | NSP - Ghost | 4h18'29 | 2 | Alessandro Petacchi | Lampre - Isd | + 2'55 | 3 | Alberto Loddo | Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli | s.t. | 14 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | s.t. |
Stage 2 – Hilly
“Here we are. Carson for the KoM, Dominique for the GC, it will happen today or it will not happen. Dominique you attack just before the last climb and hope for the best.”
Miller gets a lot of precious points and he should get the KoM at the end of the week. Helping him also ensures no break away get a large lead. The last climbs make the selection. Front group of 35, then 20, when Nerz attacks just before the last climb, there are just 10 riders left.
But Nerz is feeling great today and not only gets the stage win but also a healthy gap so he will have his shot to the overall win!
Good thing, it is still a German who is wearing yellow! A one we largely prefer though.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | 5h22'35 | 2 | Daniel Oss | Liquigas - Cannondale | + 58 | 3 | Sylwester Janiszewski | Ccc Polkowice | s.t. |
Stage 3 – Hilly
“Carson you try for the Mountain points in early stage. Then we control the race. No issue to let a break go if not dangerous. Dominique, you attack just before the last short climb.”
Miller has definitely won the KoM but in the late stage all leaders attack quite far from the arrival. Miller does again a fantastic job but when Oss attack, Nerz counters. They are cought back by the Lampre and Llyod attack. Nerz once again counters.
But the pack comes back again and it is Sella and Martinez who attack. This time Nerz stays quite and Miller does another fantastic piece of a job to keep the gap below 1’.
As planned, Nerz then attacks just before the last climb, he is countered and passed by Lloyd, but it is too late to catch Martinez and Sella who are now only 35’’ behind Nerz in GC.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Egoi Martinez De Esteban | Euskaltel - Euskadi | 3h46'51 | 2 | Emanuele Sella | Lampre - Isd | s.t. | 3 | Matthew Lloyd | Lampre - Isd | + 27 | 4 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | s.t. |
Stage 4 - ITT – 16km
“Dominique you have a small lead, just make sure it is enough”.
At the intermediate, Sella is looking as the most serious adversary with only 9’’ behind Lang who should win the stage.
Nerz is passing with 14’’ gap but feels increadibly good: he has chosen his pace based on his team mates indications but soon decides to accelerate.
He will do so till the line where he is as surprised as me to have won the stage!
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | 19'30 | 2 | Sebastian Lang | Nutrixxion Sparkasse | + 3 | 3 | Johannes Kahra | Thüringer Energie Team | + 6 | 4 | Sergej Fuchs | NSP - Ghost | + 10 | 5 | Emanuele Sella | Lampre - Isd | s.t. |
Stage 5 – Flat
“Even the Points jersey seems secured. Do the job right to close this fantastic week!”
Our team controls the 3 men break to ensure the overall win.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Sebastian Lander | TEAM Capinordic - Designa | 5h14'01 | 2 | Juan Van Heerden | Ccc Polkowice | + 2'20 | 3 | Thomas Bertolini | Farnese Vini - Neri Sottoli | + 3'26 | 4 | Matthew Lloyd | Lampre - Isd | + 4'02 | 6 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | s.t. |
Final GC
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | 19h08'38 | 2 | Emanuele Sella | Lampre - Isd | + 47 | 3 | Egoi Martinez De Esteban | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 55 | 4 | Matthew Lloyd | Lampre - Isd | + 1'22 | 5 | Sylwester Janiszewski | Ccc Polkowice | + 1'32 | 6 | Daniel Oss | Liquigas - Cannondale | + 2'52 | 7 | Sebastian Lander | TEAM Capinordic - Designa | + 3'39 | 8 | Johan Coenen | Team Differdange - Magic Sportfood | + 4'28 | 9 | Tino Thömel | NSP - Ghost | + 4'43 | 10 | Juan José Oroz Ugalde | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 5'16 |
Points - Dominique Nerz
Mountain – Carson Miller
@ sammyt93 & welker3257: Thanks for your input. There might be a first trend emerging but it would need to be confirmed. Especially your 1st choice is very different. Ardennaise or Flandriennes what a dilemna
Then there is debate between Poels and TVG for 2nd as we probably can't afford 3 guys at this salaries.
What about taking both Poels & TVG and a 3rd guy between Oss, Appollonio and Vandewalle?
Should we save a 10k or so to hire a young climber? Here is a couple of names.
I am still waiting a couple more advises on recruitments before I move on

I've been off for a bit which has been why I haven't been able to congratulate you for all your wins. I'll keep it to one word:
AWESOME!!!
As to the new recruits, TGV offers you great options for the climbs, but also for the Time-Trialling. Wout Poels does a similar job, but better on the climbs and not as on the TT. As for the others, I'd advise Oss if you can, cause bringing in another 2 great climbers will leave your sprint team looking decidedly bare. Oss would be fantastic, again as Roelandts has this season, being able to bring your team up to the next level. |

Yeah I agree not least because the team will be American. For that matter you best sign van Garderen as well.
Maybe hire some scouts and get some Americans on board and fill up the rest of the squad with one big name and solid teammates from around the world. |

Stetina would be a great option as he's cheap and American and would be a great domestique for the mountains.
out of Oss, Vandewalle and Apollonio, Oss would be my choice as he's the best sprinter and can still get over hills fairly well so would be a decent helper for whichever oen out of TVG and Poels you go for on the hills and would still have the sprint for the less selective hilly stages.
And I agree with The Rider about trying to keep the team more American which is why I'd say TVG over Poels.

@ all thanks guys!
So let's sum up:
1/ TVG got all your votes. He is the first choice.
2/ Poels and Stetina got 3 votes and would be good complements.
3/ Oss got 2 votes
4/ GVA, Langeveld, Appollonio & Vandewelle got 1 vote each.
I'll go on that basis
@ sutty68 & Neillster: Thanks. I'll pass the guys your congrates!
But let's continue the next races
Stage 1 – Prologue
“As usual Dominique, limit the gap!”
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Brett Lancaster | GreenEdge | 7'50 | 2 | Maciej Bodnar | Ccc Polkowice | + 1 | 3 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | + 2 | 4 | Simon Gerrans | GreenEdge | + 3 | 5 | Leigh Howard | GreenEdge | + 5 |
Stage 2 – Hilly
“Carson you go for the KoM. Dominique, it will be harder than in Germany with the Green Edge dream team but you should target an overall Top 3 and why not a stage win?”
Miller collects many points in the early stage then we let Green Edge control the race.
Until with 7.5 kilometres to go,
For a nice win with a small time gap.
And we I am speaking about Green Edge dream team…
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | 5h19'01 | 2 | Simon Gerrans | GreenEdge | + 19 | 3 | Michael Albasini | GreenEdge | s.t. | 4 | Wesley Sulzberger | GreenEdge | + 39 | 5 | Mitchell Docker | GreenEdge | s.t. | 6 | Sebastian Langeveld | GreenEdge | s.t. | 7 | Brett Lancaster | GreenEdge | s.t. | 8 | Stuart O'Grady | GreenEdge | s.t. |
Stage 3 – Hilly
“With very small gap in GC, the goal is to control the race. Carson can also attack a little bit to secure more KoM points.”
Like yesterday the race was under Green Edge’s control the whole day. Except in the final when everyone was tired the strong men attack.
We probably have the Top 5 here with Gerrans in Points light blue, Albasini, Lopez Garcia and Anker Sorensen. Nerz chooses Gerrans’ wheel. He was right but lack a bit of power to take the win.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Simon Gerrans | GreenEdge | 5h24'12 | 2 | Michael Albasini | GreenEdge | s.t. | 3 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | s.t. | 4 | David Lopez Garcia | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. | 5 | Chris Anker Sörensen | Saxo Bank Sungard | s.t. |
Stage 4 – Hilly
“Good job yesterday. Same drill today.”
Dual Temp and Green Edge do control the race until the final. And then we can see this:
Why is Gerrans leading in person the Green Edge team time trial? Of course because:
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | 5h18'17 | 2 | Simon Gerrans | GreenEdge | + 28 | 3 | Mitchell Docker | GreenEdge | s.t. | 4 | Wesley Sulzberger | GreenEdge | s.t. | 5 | Sebastian Langeveld | GreenEdge | s.t. | 6 | Stuart O'Grady | GreenEdge | s.t. | 7 | Brett Lancaster | GreenEdge | s.t. | 8 | Michael Albasini | GreenEdge | s.t. |
Stage 5 – Flat
“In the match Nerz vs Green Edge, we have won again! Let’s secure the overall win today!”
Another stage fully controlled by Green Edge. Massive sprint. Nerz of course stays in the Gerrans’ wheel and grabs a last podium while Gerrans takes his second stage and steals Nerz’ Points jersey for 1 point.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Simon Gerrans | GreenEdge | 4h29'55 | 2 | Leigh Howard | GreenEdge | s.t. | 3 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | s.t. |
Final GC
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | 20h38'49 | 2 | Simon Gerrans | GreenEdge | + 44 | 3 | Michael Albasini | GreenEdge | + 1'12 | 4 | David Lopez Garcia | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 1'49 | 5 | Chris Anker Sörensen | Saxo Bank Sungard | + 1'54 | 6 | Carlo Scognamiglio | Team Vorarlberg | + 2'51 | 7 | Karsten Kroon | Saxo Bank Sungard | + 2'54 | 8 | Maciej Bodnar | Ccc Polkowice | + 3'36 | 9 | Sebastian Langeveld | GreenEdge | + 3'44 | 10 | Ruben Pérez Moreno | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 3'45 | 11 | Gorka Verdugo Marcotegui | Euskaltel - Euskadi | s.t. |
Points – Simon Gerrans
Mountain – Carson Miller
Objectives
Going to Canada 2.2 race after Nerz’ recent successes, we can expect no less than:
- Overall win,
- 2 stages,
- Points jersey,
- KoM
Key Stages
Stage 3 – Hilly
Nerz attacks at the bottom of the last hill.
Clearly the strongest, he gets a 1’30 gap on his first followers.
Stage 4 – ITT – 16km
Phinney easily takes the win today but Nerz takes the 3rd place ahead (for few secs) of his GC main competiters.
Stage 5 – Hilly
Our team controls the race until Nerz attacks in the last climb.
The strongest man does it again!
Stage 6 –Hilly
No real suspense here. Same tactic as usual pays off as usual given the competition.
Classification
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | 21h31'47 | 2 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | + 3'52 | 3 | Taylor Phinney | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | + 4'03 | 4 | Caleb Fairly | Team SpiderTech Powered By C10 | + 4'10 | 5 | Jesse Anthony | Trek Livestrong U23 | + 4'20 |
Stage 1 | Keven Lacombe | Team SpiderTech Powered By C10 | Stage 2 | Ramunas Navardauskas | Team Bonitas | Stage 3 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | Stage 4 | Taylor Phinney | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Stage 5 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | Stage 6 | Dominique Nerz | Dual Temp | Points | Taylor Phinney | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling | Mountain | Nic Hamilton | Dual Temp |
Wrap up
4/5
- Overall win,
- 2 stages,
- Points jersey,
- KoM
Phinney winning 2 stages on the flat and finishing well placed on the others denies us the Grand Slam. No real suspense here, we had the strongest riders and he imposed his strength to the field.

@ sutty68 & welker3257: Nerz has been unbelievable but he is resting now. So let's hope Gerdemann will be as good
@ Neillster: tx, just done, I have hired the most expensive coach ever but with 10 in sprint and 7 in both puncher & TT (and fire the other one). Hope it will boost Roelandts a bit.
Now regarding recruitments it is done! You've asked for Americans? You got Americans
Oh and of course, I got you one surprise
Spoiler
Because I had not enough money to get Oss and I though he is a unique opportunity to do something in the Flandriennes.
I can only hope they will prove as useful as last year recruits!
Stage 1 – Prologue
“Nice to see back Linus. Hope you enjoyed your long break because this race will be hard to win and it starts today!”
Gerdemann ranks 5th getting a few secs on his main competitors.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Brent Bookwalter | Bmc Racing Team | 10'26 | 2 | David Millar | Sky ProCycling | + 7 | 3 | Sven Krauss | Atlas Personal | + 19 | 4 | Grega Bole | Lampre - Isd | s.t. | 5 | Linus Gerdemann | Dual Temp | s.t. |
Stage 2 – Hilly
“Your main day will be tomorrow but today you should loose no time to the best.”
BMC is as strong here as Green Edge was in Luxembourg… And when Gerdemann attacks with 6 kilometres to go they take the bunch lead and limit the gap,
but couldn’t close it!
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Linus Gerdemann | Dual Temp | 4h34'21 | 2 | Wietse Bosmans | Atlas Personal | s.t. | 3 | Steve Morabito | Bmc Racing Team | + 48 |
Stage 3 – Mountain
“You are facing a hue competition and are not yet at your maximum. But Linus, you wear the yellow and should fight for it”.
Dupont is in the break
and all our riders can’t help the time gap growing until Butler takes the lead and reduces a bit. But with more than a 3’ lead Dupont is virtually in yellow.
Thankfully we are finally helped by the strong Sky team.
It is too late for the stage win but will deny Dupont the GC lead.
In the final climb Gerdemann does a great job sticking with the best till the last kilometres sprint. He is rewarded by saving his yellow for 18’’ over Sivtsov.
Rank | Name | Team | Time | 1 | Hubert Dupont | Ag2r La Mondiale | 4h56'40 | 2 | Kanstantsin Sivtsov | Sky ProCycling | + 1'35 | 3 | Jonathan Fumeaux | Price Your Bike | s.t. | 4 | Przemyslaw Niemiec | Lampre - Isd | + 2'05 | 5 | Linus Gerdemann | Dual Temp | + 2'16 |
Stage 4 – Flat
“Guy you keep your strength to support Linus in case Sivtsov attacks. No chasing unless there is a danger for our GC.”
So we let a break go and everything looks under control until
At this point the whole team stop to wait his leader.
I must underline how fair Sky has plaid: with the team they have, they could easily have out speed our. But they did not bother to try and Gerdemann gets a fantastic win here!
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Enzo Josue Moyano | 5h26'26 | 2 | Vladimir Kerkez | + 27 | 3 | Dejan Bajt | + 4'33 | 4 | Manuele Mori | + 5'40 | 20 | Linus Gerdemann | s.t. |
Final GC
Rank | Name | Time | 1 | Linus Gerdemann | 15h15'58 | 2 | Kanstantsin Sivtsov | + 18 | 3 | Hubert Dupont | + 1'07 | 4 | Steve Morabito | + 2'19 | 5 | Jonathan Fumeaux | + 2'21 | 6 | David Millar | + 2'28 | 7 | Marcos Garcia Fernandez | + 2'43 | 8 | Przemyslaw Niemiec | + 3'19 | 9 | Johann Tschopp | + 5'01 | 10 | Manuele Mori | + 5'23 |
Points - Enzo Josue Moyano
Mountain - Hubert Dupont

@ sutty68: Tx, I am also eager to see those great riders in action for us! But first let's secure a place in WT...
@ welker3257: Happy to see you like my surprise Hope you'll be right as usual
Objectives
With Gerdemann on board on this 2.2 race we should have high expectations:
- 2 stage wins
- GC win
- Points or KoM win
Key Stages
Stage 4 - Hilly
With arrival on the top, we made our classical move: control the race until the bottom of the last climb and unleash Gerdemann.
Stage 5 – Mountain
We control the race until half stage and the big mountain climb. Then Butler attacks and creates a very nice gap. Surprisingly Aldape has been able to close the gap and Butler now stays in his wheel, protecting his leader’s yellow jersey.
When the big guns attack later in the climb, Gerdemann counters. Until even more surprisingly Aldape gets Butler out of his wheel! It is then time for Gerdemann to attack.
But Stevenson counters and passes him. Then Vazquez, who ranks 2nd in GC down by only 30’’ closes on Gerdemann. They will work together and finally come back on Stevenson. As the pace slows down a bit, Loubet also joins the party for a strong men sprint.
Gerdemann proves short as Butler was earlier in the stage. Quite a deception despite the overall win.
