Ian Butler: Glad you like it. Grin

The Rider: Thanks! I was a bit hesitating if it was a good text, but I'm glad you like it. Grin Don't blame it all on Porsche! Wink They both want it this way... Hell no, we can't lose them. We need their money. Wink

Vuelta a Castilla y León – Stage 1

Stage Preview

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Koersen/VueltaaCastillayLeoacutenStage1_zpsa1550276.jpg

Welcome here at the first stage of the Vuelta Castilla y León. There are some big teams with good riders starting here, so it’ll be difficult to achieve something. But at least we can show us. And that’s the plan for the next few days.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%201/PCM0542_zpsac11ecc7.jpg

And we started with that, exactly, now. It was Watson, the man who has already two wins this season, who attacked. There were seven other riders who countered his attack, but the gap to Watson was already two minutes. The peloton decided to chase the breakaway, but after a while, they stopped. There came no further attacks so this was the breakaway for today. The most remarkable name in the breakaway was that one from Modolo. Today was a flat stage, so it was strange that the peloton let him go. Watson was still at the front, solo. He won the first intermediate sprint and reduced his speed. It was impossible to ride that whole stage alone.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%201/PCM0543_zpsdf5757d8.jpg

So the chasing group caught him, and no we have a breakaway of eight riders. The second intermediate sprint was coming up, and with some good sprinters, of course Modolo, it would be difficult to get any points. Watson was chanceless, Modolo won the sprint. And then we were making us ready for the last part of the race, which has a local trail. We rode that trial three times. In that trial was a mountain sprint, so there were three times six points to win for the mountain jersey. Of course we want that, because there are only two stages where you can get mountain points. Watson already had some experience in taking mountain sprints, so he was almost unbeatable over here. Still, it was difficult, but he won the first mountain sprint.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%201/PCM0544_zps530ec58d.jpg

Just like the second one. As you can see, the gap isn’t very big, but there is a gap. And of course, Watson won also the third mountain sprint. Not very difficult. Now we’ll try to keep that jersey till the end, which is possible. There were still more than twenty kilometres to ride, and the gap was bigger than two minutes. Was it possible that the breakaway could stay till the end? At the third mountain sprint, Watson didn’t stop attacking, but he kept accelerating. Because of that, we got a breakaway of three.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%201/PCM0545_zpsc53c85bf.jpg

And with less than three kilometres to go, they still had a gap of around thirty seconds. Can they go for the win? In the background, our team was creating a sprint-train. Maybe... Watson had with a small gap the lead in the breakaway, but it was too far. He was overtaken by one of the other attackers. But then, the peloton came, and they were much faster.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%201/PCM0546_zpsf73e8d69.jpg

Mondory was the fastest today. Our team did a great job and Watson finished eleventh today! Good job, and we’re happy with that.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%201/PCM0547_zpsa162e748.jpg

We’re also happy with the fact that Watson got the lead in the mountain classification and that he will wear the mountain jersey. He’s also standing fifth in the general classification. A good start for us here, so we try to keep it up the next days.

Today's winner

Not a bad day for Watson Smile

The Rider
A good start for the team, although just missing out on the top 10. Wink

MrUfo87
sutty68: No, it wasn't. We hope to continue this. Smile

The Rider: Thanks for reminding me! It's already a while since I posted a (race) report and I totally forgot it. I think this will happen in the future as well sometimes. Wink

By the way guys, we finally have a new computer at home with a great graphics card, so finally I can play the game with the highest graphics (even without forcing them). So there will be better screenshots in reports from now on (I still have some of them with the bad graphics, but you'll see it when the new reports are coming. Wink) It gives more fun playing with the best graphics. Smile

sutty68
Great to hear about the new computer Smile

MrUfo87
sutty68: Yes I'm really happy with it. Smile

Vuelta a Castilla y León – Stage 2

Stage Preview

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Koersen/VueltaaCastillayLeoacutenStage2_zpsc548bff9.jpg

After a good start of us yesterday we wanted to do something good today. Though today was a stage for us which was difficult to do something, we tried it. And so, we attacked. It was very difficult after the start. Many riders attacked and the pace in the peloton was high. It was almost impossible to get a breakaway, but finally we had one. And of course, there was a rider which represented our team there.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%202/PCM0549_zpse8456b47.jpg

So we had a breakaway with ten riders, of whom Hill was of our team. It was kinda strange stage, and also difficult for us. We were chanceless at the intermediate sprints. But with around 120 kilometres to go, a rider from the breakaway attacked. And after him, another one. So we had a breakaway with five riders, and a chasing group with five riders. It was a strange situation, but fortunately they regrouped. So once again we had a breakaway of ten. But with 65 kilometres to go, the same thing happened. We decided to follow the other riders and Hill attacked, but we weren’t be able to get into the first group. So we had two groups, and again two of five riders. But of course, they were chanceless. The peloton was riding such a high pace that a lot of riders lost contact. After both the breakaway and the chasing group were caught, almost all our riders lost contact to the peloton. Only Watson and Freire were in the peloton. Possible classification aspirations with Burton or Rogers were wiped off. But now, the mass sprint which was coming up. Things went wrong at AG2R when Mondory had a gap to his lead out and lost energy by closing it.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%202/PCM0550_zps43dd0864.jpg

It was a duel between Feillu and Kristoff, but Feillu was the best of the two today. He took over the leader jersey from Mondory. So we were not the only one with a bad day, because AG2R had one as well.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%202/PCM0551_zps28e2b37b.jpg

The good thing about today is that we still have the mountain jersey because there were no mountain sprints. Tomorrow there will be decided who’ll win the jersey, because it’s the last stage where are mountain sprints. We hope that tomorrow will be a better day for us.

Today’s winner

The Rider
Nice to see the team make a top 10, only the American seems to be getting the good results.
Any potential rider targets for the team?

MrUfo87
The Rider: Yes. Our best riders at the moment are Americans. I don't understand your question. Embarassed Can you explain it?

The Rider
Embarassed

What I meant to say was:

- Are you going to sign anyone?
- Or are you leaving signings to the scouts?Wink

MrUfo87
The Rider: Okay, now I understand. Smile Of course we'll sign some riders for next season, but that'll be young talents because the sponsors want that. We don't have enough money for a scout so we'll have to pick riders from the U-23 list. And of course we'll use the results of our own talent race. Wink

sutty68
Good that the Mountains jersey stays with the team Wink

MrUfo87
sutty68: Yes. We hope to keep it till the end.

Vuelta a Castilla y León – Stage 3

Stage Preview

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Koersen/VueltaaCastillayLeoacutenStage3_zps4b10fcd1.jpg

Two places with mountain points. That was our thought at the start of today’s stage. We had the mountain jersey with Watson, and we wanted to keep it, of course. But we couldn’t attack with Watson, because he was ninth in the general classification. So we had to do something else. After yesterday’s disaster with Rogers and Burton, we decided to let one of them in the breakaway. After attacking a few times, Rogers got into the breakaway. But also today would be a misery stage for us.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%203/PCM0552_zpsc94348c0.jpg

Already seventy kilometres before the finish there was an attack of a climber in the peloton. It was the Swiss rider Tschopp from IAM. After him, around five other climbers attacked out the peloton. We knew it was over, and before the climb Tschopp was in the breakaway. The gap to the peloton was also only three minutes, so it was easy for him to close it. During the climb Rogers lost contact. Tschopp won the mountain sprint, so we could only hope that he wouldn’t win the stage, because of the mountain jersey. But the gap to the peloton was small and before the mountain sprint Rogers was already caught by the peloton. It was a completely chaos. Almost all of our rider already lost contact to the peloton and they had to find their own way to the finish. Our race was over.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%203/PCM0553_zps5ab50bb2.jpg

Happily for us, Tschopp was caught by the peloton which was getting smaller and smaller. Two riders attacked; Serpa from Lampre and Valls from Vacansoleil. Vacansoleil rode the most stupid tactic today. They had a strong team here, with Rujano, Ruijgh, Valls and Lagutin as climbers. But Feillu had the leader jersey, so they let three of these climbers waiting for him, while they knew that Feillu shouldn’t be able to hold the jersey. Well, it’s their choice, but in our opinion it was not the most smart one.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%203/PCM0554_zpsf8c93025.jpg

But they were still racing. Valls and Serpa got caught and the first group was sprinting for the win. It seemed that Garzelli would win the stage, but Péraud had a great acceleration and passed him! Great win for him.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%203/PCM0555_zpsc62046c6.jpg

Here the finish picture. He had enough time to celebrate, something we can’t do after this stage. Our best rider finished 60th. Those stages are not the most nice stages to race, but it’s part of our development as a team.

i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q650/Jussie4/Vuelta%20a%20Castilla%20y%20Leon%20Stage%203/PCM0556_zps49036cd9.jpg

The good news of today is that Watson was able to hold the mountain jersey. He has the same number of points as Péraud, so we hope they don’t switch the riders the next days. Tomorrow will also be a difficult stage for us, because it’s a time-trial.

Today's winner

The Rider
Another jersey to keep for the team on the cards. Wink

But do you think its necessary doing big reports for the smaller races like this?

This story seems to be all about progression so only brief reports are required so we can see some epic developing taking place so the story can move along quicker, especially as it will take some riders like 10 years to develop fully.

Just a thought. Pfft
