Well here we are. We've made it to Paris after 3 hard weeks of racing. All riders deserve credit and despite almost none of them having competed in a 3 week race before, only 12 riders were forced to abandon! However, some more than others have shown their strength and it's time to welcome those distinguished few to the podium to collect the jerseys for the winners in this, the debutant Underdog Tour!

Final Results - General Classification

Before the race, Robert Vrecer was considered as an outsider with a good chance of a podium finish. Through consistently powerful displays he was able to hold himself right at the sharp end of the GC throughout the race, eventually moving into race leadership during the final day in the Pyrénees, in a stage blown open by the consistent attacking of Colombian César Grajales (7th +3'09)

The French sprinter takes the Maillot Vert off the back of a fantastic final week. Jonas Ljungblad held the jersey for a large proportion of the race, but in the end he couldn't hold off the persistent Frenchman, seeing his jersey stolen in the very dying metres of the race. Commiserations to him, but congratulations to Flahaut whose performance on the last sprints were quite extraordinary.

Drapac will be left wondering what may have been. They put 2 men on the podium, and yet missed out on the top step! James Lowsley-Williams carefully selected his days for going on the offensive, and is rewarded with the inaugural Polka-Dot jersey.

Joe Dombrowski was favoured by many to win the overall GC. However he suffered on that crucial last mountain day, and watched his chance of a Maillot Jaune slip out of reach, even despite of a powerful final TT. Nonetheless Joe's efforts were enough to secure the Maillot Blanc ahead of the Dutch rider, Marc Goos.

It was a two-horse race in the Team competition, and the result promises good things for the future of dutch side Rabobank/Blanco. The Youngsters of Rabo-Development team did enough to secure the overall Team classification, along with 6th in the GC and 3rd in the Points Competition!

Kind of missed the end here Shock

Too bad Dombrowski didn't make it, only 19 seconds!

Hope you'll try an "underdog Giro" perhaps inviting epm-une from Colombia Pfft
Thanks for this idea... congratulations

An Underdog Giro was actually my next idea, I was thinking of starting it once I've finished reporting the Volta Catalunya for the Ultimate Café Pedro Cycling League Smile

My plan is for The 5* Teams in the 2013DB, along with the 5 teams who won a classification at the Underdog Tour (RaboCT, Bontrager, Vorarlberg, UK Youth and RLM) to make up the teams, so yes Kadtagenero Colombia will be included, but not with there 2 strongest climbers as they are too overpowered for the competition.

It was also so nice to see James Lowsley-Williams come away with the Best climber prize Smile

That's a great new... so I will have the chance to support riders like Grajales, Acevedo (Jamis) and more?... cool!

pd. When you say Colombia, you're talking aobut the one riding right now in Italia? or just wanted to say a colombian team will be included? anyway, thank you for answering... good luck

The Rider
A Great end on the Champs elysses with Flahaut winning, but Ljunblad most be pretty sick after losing the jersey there.
Pretty suprising with Vrecer winning the overall, I reckon the TT's helped.Smile

I was considering using national teams with a an average cap for the Giro, though i think that would make it to similar to the Tour of the Chosen, any thoughts?

Nah, that wouldn't be similair at all, tbh. Well, the average cap maybe, but this is different, and you can choose a different average cap as well Wink
Unless we have to choose the teams, it might get a bit too similair then, I agree Wink

No no, this won't be a game I don't think, I'd prefer to keep this just as a story, I'll pick the teams Smile

Well, in that case, it seems fine for me.
Gonna use the 2013 DB then?

As long as the Netherlands play a nice role in the game, I'm looking forward to the game Pfft
