Don't complain! He's the second best hilly rider in the DB...

Tour Down Under team announced
The season is going to start soon, and 7 of our guys are currently on a plane to Australia to prepare for the Tour Down Under!
Without further ado, here are the seven names:
Dries Devenyns
Stijn Devolder
Niko Eeckhout
Philippe Gilbert
Gianni Meersman
Giacomo Nizzolo
Mitch Thompson
Our aims are pretty clear, we want to start the season with a bang, and that's why we have sent this team. There's a few big names in there, so we're hoping they can show us something nice.
Dries Devenyns will be a domestique, both on the flat and the on the hills we expect him to support our team leaders until the end. The same goes for Stijn Devolder, who can set a good pace when needed. Team veteran Niko Eeckhout can sneak in a breakaway, but he can also set a pace on the flat or join in the sprint preparations. Philippe Gilbert has two stages he should like a lot. The same goes for Gianni Meersman, who will also be the leadout on the flat for our main sprinter. That will be Giacomo Nizzolo, who is expected to get some good finishes. Last but definitely not least, this will be the race closest to home for Mitch Thompson, and he has two hilly stages to his liking, so he'll be motivated to do something!

Mitch is definitely looking to win a stage. He won't give up easy either.

Season preview with Philippe Gilbert
Today our number 1 draft pick Philippe Gilbert is going to do some predictions on the upcoming season!
1) Season start
"There are quite a few races in the early season the team should like. It's always good for the confidence to get some wins early in the season. I don't think we will win the World Tour this season, as we have a lot of riders that are years away from reaching their full potential. But we need to stay in, so we need to get points. I particularly like the Tour Down Under and Paris-Nice, but the rest of the team can also strike somewhere. We also have a really good team for Milan-San Remo, but I think a lot of teams are interested in that one."
2) Cobbled season
"Well, if you don't have Cancellara or Boonen in the team, it's going to be hard. But we do have quite some decent cobblers and a strong team overall. It's going to be hard, but we can surprise. Either way, I do believe we're going to gain some points here, even though if we don't win anything. We also don't have any races we particularly like in this period, but we won't do to bad either. This will be just a point building time, I guess."
3) Ardennes
"This is my time to shine, as the team is expecting a lot from me. I believe I will have decent support, though I fear I may be alone towards the end. Not that that's a problem. I have shown I can win these races in different ways, so if the plan works out I can get a win for the team here. Of course Liege-Bastogne-Liege is the main goal here for me."
4) Grand Tours
"The Giro is our main goal, and we have a strong team for it. Without bad luck, we should be on the podium in Rome. The Tour de France is also important obviously, so we will have a strong team there as well. The Vuelta is the least interesting one for us, but we still have a decent squad there. In between there are quite some races we like as well, so this will be our point harvest season. We'll know where we stand after this."
5) Autumn
"Some classics very much to my liking again here. If we're close with another team towards the end of the season, I think we can make sure we will come out on top, as a strong finish is possible with our team. The worlds are interesting as well of course, but I can't comment on that one yet. Either way, after the season I'm a free rider, but I'm confident a new contract can be discussed!"

Rider preview with Niko Eeckhout
Today, our team veteran Niko Eeckhout will give his preview for the riders. His incredible experience will give some insight in what riders we have and how they can develop. He'll be acting as a mentor this year for our young riders, most likely riding his last season, as he's already 41. Then again, with Niko you'll never know. Here is his rider preview!
"Looking at the team this year, I can say this is the most talented team I've been a part of in all of my carreer. It's a true priviledge to be drafted in this team, and I will do my absolute best to play my part in this.
We are truely blessed with or debut riders: Mitch Thompson and Lucas Gonzalez. I'm expecting a lot from them, and even though they're not the youngest anymore, they can still improve. Especially Mitch seems eager to start the season, and I can tell you, one day he's going to win a big classic!
We do have two incredibly talented spinters, Arnaud Démare and Giacomo Nizzolo. Hopefully they can both develop in a friendly rivalry, the inside competition will make both stronger. We also have a few less talented sprinters, but they're all still young, so a lot of progress can be make here.
On the cobbles, we have non too young, but that's not surprising, as it takes years to master the cobbles. With Goddaert and Roelants, we still have two relatively young guys that can still make lots of progress.
In the hills, we have quite a few young riders that have both a good sprint and good hill capability. They'll will probably have to see where there true potential lies. Over the season, they can see where they want to specialise and with the right choices, we'll have a succesor for Gilbert in a few years time! Ben Hermans seems the most likely candidate, but we'll have to see!
Speaking of stage races, where my own experience is very little, I've seen some potential as well. Balloni and Meyer are the younger ones, but Bakelants, De Clercq and Rabottini aren't that much older. Our main talent is of course Thomas De Gendt, who is the most solid allrounder I ever rode with.
As for myself, this might be my last year. I only have a 1 year contract and I'm not getting any younger. Though the team has made it clear no one will have to leave yet, I know I have to prove a lot if I want to stay. But we'll see in about a year. For now, I just want to make the most of this season!"

The Pizza Prediction
For the next part of the season preview, we actually have a bit of a prediction game coming up. Each participant gets a free basic pizza with tomato sauce(let's just pretend we all like pizza for a minute ). Other ingredients (again, no dislikes or allegies, please ) can be earned by correctly predicting the team's results. Each ingredient will have a question about Lierse - Pizza Ullo you can guess at.
Cheese: A guy that will win a WT race
Extra cheese: The first guy to win a race
Bacon: The guy that wins or comes closest to winning a GT
Mushrooms: The guy that wins or comes closes to winning a monument
Onions: The guy that wins or comes closes to winning a classic
Olives: The guy that wins or comes closest to winning a points jersey
Peppers: The guy that wins or comes closest to winning a mountain jersey
Chicken: The first guy to wear a GT jersey
Pepperoni: A guy that will win a NC
At the end of the season, come pick up your pizza!

@Marco Well. The Belgian NC got a very hilly profile. Or do you think Roelandts wins the TT? Or do you just dislike Pepperoni
