Winners never quit, quitters never win.

It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

Rooting for Vantornout to win the elite race. I think Nys will take it, though.

Also hope Taramarcaz performs well.

A relatively international result. Pauwels (chain problems) and Mourey (puncture) were very unlucky today. Albert had an off-day. Wellens was very strong despite a bad start. Walsleben and Taramarcaz were very decent. Van der Haar was impressive once again. People say he only has a good sprint but he practically rode the whole race alone.

That was a good race, and well raced by Nys to pull of the win. Shame Pauwels had a mechanical, he looked strong and able to challenge Nys and Vantornout.

Who knows. Wink At the moment I think he's just as clean as any other cyclo-cross rider though.

Pauwels looked like the strongest to me before his mechanical. I think he would've won this if it wasn't for the bad luck.

And so close for Vantornout! A real pity that he got his pedal caught in that barrier.

Best result for Vd Haar this season on a hard course. nrs 1,2 and 4 are 30+ riders too.
Looks good

Nys is a goddamn legend though...still allmighty

Well, Nys is a former BMXer, that's why he is that good! A real cyclo-cross legend, probably the best ever, and deserves this win. Vantornout finished a great season with the 2nd place. Van der Haar (lives 15km from my home town, nice fact) bronze in his first year with the Elite is fantastic, even considering the fact that he was in 12th after the 1st lap, and gradually improved every lap. He's like a little pitbull, and will surely become the world champ in the future!

Nys really deserves winning this, he always has had bad luck at WCs.

But most impressively was Van Der Haar. It was unprecedented for a debut pro rider to make the selection, but finishing third. The boy will rule cyclo-cross in a couple of years, with M. Van Der Poel. Belgians into underdog position, looking forward to that!

Oh, and the New-Zealander was able to ride 4 rounds before getting lapped, good for him Smile

Gotta love the full race re-run on the UCI's youtube channel. Nice to see Tim Johnson so high. (I like the North American circuit riders)

Shame that Powers did a bit poor, but I think his late season form hasn't been too good.

Nice racing in the Worlds, i enjoyed the crosses, funny weather for those in the armchair instead of being there. Grin

Shame that Nash had that problems, she would have won the bronze. But great surprise and result for junior Toupalik. Also with two in top 10 at Elite, not bad champs for Czech Republic.

Congrats to Nys, i dont like him much, but this was deserved.
I'll be back

Wellens beats Nys in Maldegem today. Albert third.

Poor Nys, doping control at 6am, never saw that coming after partying for his WC jersey Pfft
