Vuelta a Espana - Stage 7

After today 1/3 of the Vuelta will be complete,
and Sagan will hope to close up his early hole he has dug himself into
as he sits 25 points off the lead of Igor Anton.



A breakaway of 5 including the old veteran,
aka "PCM.Daily Favourite Cyclist", Jens Voigt.



They ride through and take all the points available at the sprint points.



As the peloton starts pushing the tempo to make the catch,
arguable the fastest man on two wheels,
can't stay up on his two wheels.
What an awful Vuelta for Cavendish as he has yet to record
a single sprint point, and now this horrible crash.



To make matters worse he causes a chain reaction.
Riders hit the pavement one by one,
none of the favourites go down as most of casualties
come from the guys riding in the back.



Despite the chaos at the back, the front of the peloton stays focused
and catches the breakaway with 7kms to go.



Garmin takes control of the sprint followed by Liquigas with Oss and Sagan.



Heinrich Haussler is forced to fend for himself as
Michel Kreder pulls off the front with 1600 meters to go.



Sagan, on the other hand, holds back and uses Oss to perfection.



And gets to show off his signature "Chicken Dance" celebration,
as he moves into a tie with Anton for 1st place in points!

Vuelta a Espana - Stage 9

Every mountain stage looks like a black hole for Sagan.
Not wanting to leave today without getting points,
Liquigas keeps the tempo high until the first sprint point
where Sagan takes his only points for today. 4 points.
His rival Anton keeps the pressure on with another dominating performance.

Sagan has 21 points to make up after the events yesterday.



The classic breakaway rides through taking both sprint points on tap today.



A pretty boring day of events so far as
the breakaway is reeled in with 10kms to go.



Jérémy Roy puts in a dig near the top of the climb.
But is pulled back on the downhill towards the finish.



Joaquin Rodriguez doesn't want to settle this in a sprint.
Sagan gets up on his pedals to try and chase him down...



But he is to late.



Hold on... check that.



The finish is so close the our cameraman has a hard time getting a photo,
and it turns out Rodriguez celebrated to early!
Peter Sagan is credited for the win!
However not to rain on his parade but Anton finished 11th
and picked up 5 points to keep the points lead.

Vuelta a Espana - Stage 10

Peter trails by a mere point to Anton in what is turning into
an epic final battle for Sagan's Quest for History.



It's a group of 4 that flee in the early going.



The peloton is content to give them 6 minutes at the first checkpoint.



However it is soon Lotto and Sky putting the hammer down.



It's almost enough to reel them back before the final sprint point,
but no quite. So Sagan will have to rely on the points at the finish.



Liquigas finishes off the capture with 8kms to go.



Lotto lines up Greipel with JJ Rojas Gil behind him
and then Liquigas with the tatum of Oss and Sagan.



Greipel tries to hold back as long as possible,
but by that team he had already missed the move by Oss on his left!



And from there it is Sagan once again rocketing towards another stage win.
Anton finishes 12th and gets 4 points, so Sagan will get to wear green outright by 20 points heading into the hilly ITT after the rest day in two days time.
He is really in great form this late into his Quest, which is a great sign.
