Andy Schleck won't ride the Tour. Broke something in his back apparently.

Pozzato sucks!

I love it. Best news in a long time (well beside Contador return to Riis) |

No matter what Tour without Andy will be strange but this prepares something even better for us in August.
Contador v Schleck battle for Vuelta hopefully.

The same news in English - https://www.cyclin...-de-france
This could be potentially huge. To be honest him missing the Tour would be kind of crap. Without Schleck or Contador there won't be too many riders to really make the mountains hugely interesting.

Think it will be more intereting as others may feel like they've got a chance to shine. Resulting into more attacks.

This is how I see things being - Sky sets up invincible train up mountain, setting strong pace but not super-fast. Someone attacks but can't get too far and get dragged back. Riders sprint at top of mountain. That is not something that I want to watch - only attacks on descents would stand a chance of being remotely interesting.
Hopefully I'm wrong, but this is way too plausible for my liking.

Shit
How someone could cheer for that? Andy was only chance to make Tour interesting mountains-wise. Now it is official, Tour 2012 the most boring GT ever, we will see mountain TTT and everybody will sit on their asses till the Flamme rouge. At least there is Frank, one of the few to have balls to attack in the mountains.
Edit: Btw people cheering for rider being injured, the worst thing i have ever read here in year i am a member.

Hold on a second, I'm not cheering for it. It's a real shame that one of the favourites wouldn't even start. But this probably would give Horner a chance, which is good imo.

Andy to make the Tour interesting? I'm sorry, but did Contador make last year's Giro interesting by attacking and winning every mountain stage?
Imo, this leaves a lot of riders with the same climbing ability, which could give us a tour like the one Sastre won (2008?). Also, why can't Frank do the same thing Andy would do?
That said, injuries are always bad.

Give the Tour to Wiggins already and save us all the pain to watch UK Postal TTTing over the mountains. I thought we couldn't have a GT worse than the Giro this year, but apparently I was wrong. :/

The difference is that Andy would be forced to do it because he can't time trial so the tension would still be there.

Hopefully you are right, but a lot of the climbers left are more grinding style climbers, rather than attacking ones. I wonder if Rolland/Voeckler will take up the aggressive mantle?

Nibali and van den Broeck perhaps. But most attackers are only outsiders (Taaramaë, Valverde, Sánchez, Rolland, Poels...)

Horner is injured, or at least that was the reason he wasn't in the Tour list from radioshack. Don't think he will be riding Klöden to be captain for the shack.

20 minutes before the Schleck news came out Horner news also came out saying he was fit enough to ride the Tour.

It's not really the back, sacrum is at the back pelvis bone where your hips and coccyx join (basically).

What makes you believe that at all? His best result this year was 18th at Paris-Nice.

Well, fuck. Hope he returns in the Vuelta, and has an interesting fight with Contador. |

Just have a an idea that the tour has been his only goal all season, as the route is perfect for him.
I would not surprise me if Klöden end up on the podium in Paris.
