I think its cause the first goal was accidental - an attempt to kick the ball out to the goalkeeper gone wrong. So they let the 2nd guy score to make things fair.

one of my favorite teachers was similar. not the same but similar.
it was a practical class, so he wasn't supposed to teach, just supervise our work.
the real teaching of concepts was in the theoretical class of the same subject.
if you didn't bother him, he didn't even talk to you. you did whatever the heck you wanted. if you had any questions about the class's subject, he'd explain it to you unbelievably well. in a few seconds you'd get the whole of it. amazing. and then he'd sit back down and we'd go back to playing Worms World Party
everyone got all of the concepts extremely well, just because of how good he was at explaining it
