Just finished a season with Sky on hard difficulty. Needless to say I think I will try next season on extreme as I gained:
- 121 victories as a team over the course of the season.
- Mark Cavendish had 48 victories, won 8 stages of the Tour, won the green jersey and won MSR.
- Wiggins won the Tour by over 10 minutes.

Rabobank is Best
How do you win the Tour by 10 minutes with Wiggins. Please explain?

- Start the Tour with a terrible startlist, with a declining Evans as your main challenger (Most other guys were injured or had terrible form)
- Blitz the timetrials
- Split the peloton on numerous occasions with your challengers losing time
- There were some big crashes in the first week which gained me some time

I'm necroing the thread just like my save game that I last played about a year ago! Is anyone out there still playing PCM 11 and wanting to exchange some casual racing discussion?

Quick refresh I'm playing as Sky with the PCM 2012 database on hard. Summary of the highlights from my posts of over a year ago:

TDU - Henao break win to protect lead to GC win + EBH and Uran stage wins

Classics - Flecha with highly realistic and frustrating podiums followed by Ardennes top 5's Sad

APV - breakaway stage wins with Thomas and Flecha (so he can win now Pfft), top 10 Uran, mountains Thomas, White Uran + team classification

Romandie - unexpectedly snatched the GC with Uran from Evans (3 secs) on the final mountain TT + stage for Uran and Cav

Giro
- Relatively weak team delivering unspectacular 11th for Uran + hilly stage win for him
- Cav underperforming in the sprints (need to hone my hard sprinting skills) scrapping around for the points jersey until half the field just missed the time cut on a late mountain stage
- Oh and Uran won white by nigh on 2 hours - not much competition there Grin
- Anton held off Basso in the last TT to win while Scarponi was a distant 3rd 10 minutes down

Dauphine & Tour de Suisse - prep for the Tour with Froome 6th at the former (Kreuziger destroyed the field) and Wiggins 6th in the latter (F Schleck just hanging on in the TT to beat Nibali by a solitary second).

Now on to the real deal...

My team for the main season goal of the TdF was almost exactly the same as the 2012 reality (hopefully with a similar outcome) except Thomas was in for the leadouts and some breaks (none of the Olympic track malarkey) instead of Knees and, while I had planned to have him there, Eisel was rested (overtrained him Embarassed ) with Pate covering.

Tour de France Team
Wiggins
Froome
Porte
Rogers
Siutsou
EBH
Thomas
Pate
Cavendish

So lets see if green and yellow can really be done Pfft

Stage 1 (Prologue)
Martin, 'nuff said...

Stage 2
Rolling, flatish stage with a slight rise to the line. Really unsure here as the database didn't show an uphill sprint and I couldn't determine the length of the last rise. The break was really hard work to bring back but I burn't through the team to enter the finishing straight with EBH with Cav on his wheel but Elmiger still surviving off the front. As they rounded the last corner EBH opened the sprint early in an effort to close it down but turns out it was 4% at the end and Cav started going backwards. Deathly close at the finish as Elmiger, Chavanel and EBH hit the line together. Somehow Elmiger found time to celebrate confident he had the half a wheel he needed (not sure if the AI can get this wrong?) and he just proved right for a fabulous breakaway win!

Stage 3
Flat stage that I was determined to get right after yesterday. Lead out right, missile delivered and Cav gets one on the board over Greipel and Farrar (did we still think Farrar was this good in 2012?) \o/

Stage 4
Hilly run in meant I was pleased to get EBH in the break of the day. Marshalled the break well to attack on the downhill before the rise to the line and made it 2 in 2 days as Purito and Valverde then the peloton came in some 30 seconds back - come in Tony Martin your time in yellow is up as EBH takes the reins \o/

Stage 5
Flat stage, leadout train blocked on narrow roads leaving Cav out of it and Farrar to perform like the old classic version for the win.

Stage 6
So the one certainty of the first week struck today with a mass crash near the end (thanks Froome for starting it!) taking out Cav and many many others from the front of the pack all the way back. As a road block of bikes and bodies formed behind them thankfully EBH and, more importantly, Wiggins made it through. Great leadout this time and am fairly sure Cav would have won if still there but EBH got overtaken by the A list sprinters to come home 5th as Farrar won again.

Stage 7
Pave...don't seem to remember this in the 2012 TdF? Break for Thomas today methinks! Turned out beautifully - pushed it throughout and even a charging Chavanel (making up 5 minutes on the break by himself) couldn't upset things as Thomas sat on Chava's wheel and came round comfortably with bike lengths to spare as he hit the line. Cavendish took the bunch sprint for 5th after the remnants of the break and Wiggins made it through safely unlike many other GC rivals who lost time as the peloton split on the cobbles. The reduced bunch were 3 minutes back so yellow was passed from EBH to Thomas \o/

Stage 8
Into the hills with a hilltop finish at La Planche de Belles Filles. Sent Cav off early to pick up a juicy 20 point intermediate sprint to take back some points on the rampant Farrar then all for one and protecting Wiggins for as long as possible. Worked out well with Kiryienka taking the stage (no GC threat) and the team bringing back a strong Sami Sanchez attack. With team mates burnt out Wiggins was holding SS's wheel going into the sprint but just faded for a credible third on the stage. Losses limited to just a few seconds but SS appears to be the biggest danger in these early stages. Thomas was also able to protect the yellow jersey with a little help from his team mates.

So given some early season disappointments a lot better than expected...so far...

Current GC
1 Geraint Thomas Sky Procycling 33h32'47

After finishing my story, not sure what to do next. Continuing the Petrona-Monster Energy career in 2015 (with a nice TdF, including a cobbled TTT made by emmea https://emmea.altervista.org/Percorsom...somini.png ), or start a new career with the PCM daily 2012 DB (Monster story was the 2011 DB), with a team like Vini Farnese or COlnago. What do you think (and no, there will be no story about it!!)

Maybe wait for PCM 13? Or won't you buy it?

A Vini Farnese career might be nice, you can build it up slowly!

Hey all.
I am in a career with rabobank and am wondering wjether i should use the same riders in both the giro and the tour or giro and vuelta.
I hve decided my leaders are gesink, sanchez, kruiswijk and mollema.

Luis Leon Sanchez
Why do so many people use SKY. In 2011 they dont even syart with cqbendiah. In 2012 theor team is staxked. Use other teams people.

Mollema, Kruijsik Giro Vuelta

And take L.L.S to the TDF, you cpuld also take Gesink to the Vuelta aswell as Sanchez.

I always try split them up each year i change them around. So just say i was Rabo, in 2012 i would do the TDF with Gesink and in 2013 id do Giro Vuelta, but if i win the GT i always try to defend it the next year. It is very hard to do the Giro/TDF double and get top results unless u play on easy and normal. The Giro/Vuelta is possible and even the TDF/Vuelta is possible.

Luis Leon Sanchez
Ok, thanks Atlanta. Goods trot to the season with 1st in GC in the tour of Australia and the first vaults ciclista thing. Both with Sanchez, and Sammy sanchez,Nieve, coppel, etc. all participating.

Luis Leon Sanchez
So take Gesink, sanchez, kruiswijk and Moslems to vuelta. Sanchez and Gesink to tour and kruiswijk and millenarian to giro.

Bloody spell check screws up the names when typing.

After trying to move on to PCM12, I've decided to get back to this. For me it's the best game of the series. Nice gameplay, good career stuff, much more simple, etc.

So, I decided to go with Sky and play, at least, 5 years and make Froome the best GC rider of all time. I'll try to beat Eddy Merckx 13 GT win's. Editing some stuff to accomplish that (sponsor, riders contracts, etc).

I'm in the first season and I've split the team in the follow order:
1. Froome will try to win Giro and Vuelta. Will let the Tour for Cav and Wiggins (last year on Sky);
2. Cav and Wiggo will take on the Tour. Cav to win the Green Jersey, which is the main goal, and Wiggins to try the best possible place. He only has the support of Porte and Rogers. This duo will go to Giro to help Froome. So Wiggo might get little help.
3. Flecha and Uran will fight for the Spring Classics.
4. Henao will go for the Giro in order to help Froome and later on to develop his climbing skills.
5. I'll make other small objectives for each rider. (Ex: Dowsett make 2 top5 in TT)

Let's see how this goes.

Cheers guys!

Started a career a while ago with Sky using Atlantius 2013 DB, playing on hard. First season went pretty well, won all the World Tour stage races up till Romandie. Porte was in-form early in the season and won Tour Down Under as well as Paris-Nice, while Uran won Tirreno-Adriatico, Al Pais Vasco and Volta a Catalunya. Top 10s in all of the 1 day classics, though Thomas in the cobbled ones and Uran in the ardennes. Oh, and Siutsou finished 4th in La Fleche Wallone after a breakaway^^

The GTs were of course the main goal, but did'nt go as well as planned. Had Froome in the Giro and the Vuelta with Wiggins focusing on the Tour since I figured he'd need the time-trials a bit more than Froome. Came second in the Giro. Was 2 minutes behind Samuel Sanchez till the last or second last mountain stage were I went all-in with a pretty early attack. It backfired and I lost shitloads of time, finishing about 4 minutes behind Sanchez in the GC.

Had pretty high hopes to win the tour considering how much time-trialling there would be, but never really stood a chance. Contador dominated (6 stage wins, won the GC by 6 minutes). He even won both the longer individual TTs... Wiggins finished second with some solid riding, but was never close to challenging Contador. Was in 3rd for a long time, but won quite a bit of time on Valverde on the last TT to move up to second. Dombrowski took a stage win as well as the polka dot jersey.

Lastly, the Vuelta. Froome was in good form and I figured since the AI usually doesn't plan the race days well it would be an easy win. Not quite. Rodriguez did'nt participate in the Giro and missed the Tour with an injury, so he only had about 25 race days when the Vuelta started. Was probably the funniest GT I've ever played since Froome & Rodriguez changed leadership so many times, always within a minute of each other. After 20 stages Rodriguez had a lead of 12 seconds, so I tried to attack from the peloton at the end of the stage and got a gap. Froome was pretty tired at the end and lost some of the gap, but managed to finish 15-16 sec ahead of the peloton and took the GC. Lucky that, since I would have been pretty pissed if I had finished second in all the GTs.

I'm actually quite disappointed with the transfers I made now. Could'nt control myself when I saw all the nice names available, which ended up in quite an unrealistic team. Lost both Wiggins and Thomas, as well as a few other riders. Signed Bardet, Pinot, van den Broeck & Guardini. A few other riders as well, domestiques/U23 like Clancy. So a bit too much of an international squad, but I'll try to fix it in the coming seasons.

Since the contract with Sky is about to expire I signed a contract with some american sponsor. Will try to get more american riders in the next transfer season, but for now at least I have a fairly talented duo in Boswell & Dombrowski. Dombrowski managed to win 2 stages & the mountain jersey in the Giro, as well as a stage in Tour de Romandie. I sent a sprint-oriented team to the Giro to support Guardini, but it did'nt go quite as planned. Guardini only took 1 stage win and 1 podium, but on the other hand, it went better in the GC. I sent Uran, Cataldo & Dombrowski for the mountains, hoping for stage win(s) from Uran & Dombrowski while Cataldo would support Uran for a top-5 in the GC. The starting field was surprisingly weak, which eventually led to a GC-win for Urán! I was surprised as hell since I figured someone would be stronger, and since the team could'nt back Uran up particularly well in the mountains.

Oh right, almost forgot. Bardet's developed very well, so his first season with the team has been quite a success. I sent him to PAris-Nice to build form and hunt for a stage win, but the course favored him fairly well so he actually won the GC, and a stage. He followed that up by winning the Milano San-Remo. He only came 12th in the al pais vasco, he fell in stage 1 and did'nt really perform as well as he could have after that. Anyway, that seemed to have been forgotten when the Ardennes classics came up, since he took the triple. Nobody had a chance to follow him really.

The tour is about to start soon, and I have a pretty strong squad backing Froome. Pinot (80 mo, 5th in the Tour GC last year), Porte (77 mo I think), Kiryienka, Siutsou, Boswell, Boasson Hagen (74-76 mo on all of them), Bardet & Stannard. Will probably be hard to beat Contador, but I should have a pretty decent chance. Wiggins won the Dauphine, so he's in form, altough I haven't seen any notable results from Nibali all season. Later on van den Broeck should have a very good chance in the Vuelta, so with a bit of luck we could actually take all the GTs this season Smile

Back on my Sky 2012DB game playing on hard after another 4 month break.

Mirrored the reality of 2012 by ending up winning the Tour with Wiggo, taking the 2 TT's along the way (just) and Cav winning 3 stages too (2 out of the 3 he actually won in 2012 including the Champs).

Other than that Cav also won green and EBH and Thomas won a stage each too. Pleased to finally hit a sponsor goal for the season (green) Grin

After some splits caused by crashes and cobbles and some strong riding the podium was rounded out by Kloden Shock and Sami Sanchez.

Next up was San Sebastian where Flecha tried in vain in a break but with EBH being the strong card with high fitness post TdF. It was looking good going into finale as things fractured and reformed EBH held Gilberts wheel but as they went into the last couple of kms Gilbert skillfully manoeuvred EBH to the front but no panic red bar left and sprint late...going at about 1km to go with a gap opening behind Gilbert only for Sagan to realistically come from no where go over the top and put nearly a bike length into EBH beating him into 2nd with Gilbert 3rd.

Ho hum onward and upward - up next Pologne...
