That picture in the results part of Hesjedal is one of my favourite pics of cycling from the whole season.

The deciding Time Trial. It will be interesting, and I think Horner and Klöden have great chances here.

Team goals:
- Top 10 (Klöden)
- Top 20 (Horner)

Favourites: Tony Martin, Alberto Contador, Roman Kreuziger, Samuel Sánchez, Andreas Klöden.
My tip: With the possibility of a GC-Victory, Contador is not to beat.

I hope Horner can pass both Cunego and Rodríguez. Cunego for sure, but Rodríguez will be tough. Good luck in the TT.

Thanks! It was a really nice time trial, with an interesting result:

img51.imageshack.us/img51/7954/k2pcm0001.jpg
The first good time was set by him, Michael Rogers, with a 33'26".

img545.imageshack.us/img545/4479/k2pcm0003.jpg
But his teammate Maxime Monfort could beat him with 1 second.

img837.imageshack.us/img837/5900/k2pcm0002.jpg
The third time trial specialist from Colombia, and top favourite today, can beat Maxime Monfort with sixteen seconds, the besttime (33'09") now from him.

img266.imageshack.us/img266/3474/k2pcm0004z.jpg
Maybe the biggest surprise today: Matthew Busche, 22 years old and a talented rider of RadioShack! He beated Rogers and Monfort, and just 9 seconds behind the top favourite Martin.

img256.imageshack.us/img256/2259/k2pcm0005.jpg
Another favourite for todays time trial, Roman Kreuziger. Finally, he is 10 seconds behind Martin and one behind Busche.

img703.imageshack.us/img703/3474/k2pcm0006l.jpg
Denis Menchov. Nice that we can see him competing, but his shape seems to be bad. +1'04" for him against Martin.

img80.imageshack.us/img80/1475/k2pcm0007.jpg
Löfkvist with a good time, he finished just 13 seconds behind Tony Martin.

img266.imageshack.us/img266/5046/k2pcm0008.jpg
Dave Zabriskie, well-known as time trialer, could not come up to his expectations. 23 seconds behind Tony Martin.

img585.imageshack.us/img585/1601/k2pcm0009j.jpg
Andy Schleck with an unexpected strong time. The Luxembourger finished only 20 seconds behind Martin.

img513.imageshack.us/img513/6140/k2pcm0010.jpg
His brother Fränk was even one second better than Andy.

img44.imageshack.us/img44/5613/k2pcm0011.jpg
We know him as a good mountain rider, we know him as a puncheur, yesterday he showed us his sprint abilities, and now he even mutate to a good time trialer! He beats Tony Martin by one second, new besttime now 33'08" by Ryder Hesjedal.

I forgot to make a screenshot of Andreas Klöden, he had a really good day and beat Hesjedal by 36 seconds, new besttime now by Klöden!

img207.imageshack.us/img207/9766/k2pcm0012.jpg
Our GC-Contender, Chris Horner. His time trial abilities are just limited, but nonetheless he even beat Klödi by 14 seconds, the new besttime now 32'18" by Chris Horner. Will it reach to pass Cunego?

img825.imageshack.us/img825/8837/k2pcm0013.jpg
Another surprise was Rubén Plaza, I did not have expected him only 1'02" behind Horner and 13th in the end.

img149.imageshack.us/img149/6985/k2pcm0014.jpg
And here the little prince. Just like Horner, he have not to good time trial skills, and just like Horner, he surprise with a good time, 16 seconds behind Horner.

img839.imageshack.us/img839/3799/k2pcm0015.jpg
The luxembourg TT-Champ Kim Kirchen showed today why he had that jersey, only 37 seconds behind Horner at the end.

img530.imageshack.us/img530/917/k2pcm0016l.jpg
Alberto Contador, another favourite for today and top favourite for the overall. A disappointing finish for him, he was 26 seconds behind Horner. Will it reach for Sánchez?

img232.imageshack.us/img232/7869/k2pcm0017.jpg
Joaquín Rodríguez could just try to limit his time loss today. But I would lie if I would say he was bad, only a minute behind Chris Horner, an unexpected strong ride from the spanish puncheur.

img713.imageshack.us/img713/4673/k2pcm0018.jpg
And here Samuel Sánchez, the last rider who would be able to destroy our double. And HE DOES! He beat Klöden by 2 seconds, no second stage win for Sánchez, but the OVERALL WIN, he beat Alberto with 14 seconds.

Sámuel Sánchez can beat Alberto Contador in the fight for the GC. Rodríguez can hold his third place. Also a nice stage race for us, with the fourth and sixth in the final GC.

Great TT for you. Really good performance by Horner, Klöden and Busche.

That must have been Cunego's best TT ever. Too bad you couldn't pass Rodríguez too.

Love this story.

Paris - Roubaix
img89.imageshack.us/img89/7576/parisroubaixlogo.png
Paris–Roubaix is a one-day professional bicycle road race in northern France near the Belgian frontier. Since its beginning in 1896 until 1967 it started in Paris and ended in Roubaix (hence the name); since 1968 the start city is Compiègne (about 60 kilometres (37 mi) north-east from Paris center), whilst the finish is still in Roubaix. Famous for rough terrain and cobblestones , it is one of the 'Monuments' or Classics of the European calendar, and contributes points towards the UCI World Ranking. The race is organised by the media group Amaury Sport Organisation annually in mid-April.
Most wins: Roger De Vlaeminck (BEL) 4
Winner 2009: Tom Boonen (BEL).

Tom Boonen
He had a bad Ronde, after attacking he had no chance to get away, place 12 at the finish. Nonetheless, as three-time P-R winner, he is the top favourite today. And he has the best team.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Filippo Pozatto
2nd in de Ronde, and of course a favourite here.

Stijn Devolder
He were the best attacker at the ronde, a strong acceleration at the Bosberg, maybe just bad luck that he get caught at the last kilometers. But he showed us that he is a serios opponent today.

Juan-Antonio Flecha
4th in Vlaanderen, and he is mostly better in Roubaix as in Vlaanderen.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Matti Breschel
I were really surprised as I see that he could attack with Devolder at the Bosberg. He seems strong, and with a bit luck, he can take the victory here.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Gert Steegmans
The big surprise in Vlaanderen. After hanging on at the cobbles, he could steel the victory with an amazing sprint. And this could be his chance today too.

Björn Leukemans
After a 9th in de Ronde, he win the Scheldeprijs. And with Hoogerland as helper, he is able to take a Top5 here.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Sylvain Chavenel
He is in a great shape, but his problem will be that he is only the third leader in his squad.

Martin Maaskant
We all remember him in 2008, as he get a fourth in Roubaix in his first season! Maybe he can do something similar today.

Lars Boom
5th in Vlaanderen, he showed what he is able to do.

Sebastian Langeveld
As sixth in Vlaanderen, we can not underestimate him.

RadioShack: Of course, Steegmans lead our squad here. Rosseler and Muravyev have not to help until they are the only one which are able to do that. Vaitkus, Rast, Bewley and Selander have to help today.
The opposition: see above

Thanks Smile Gert will take part at the Vuelta, one of our sponsors wants the point jersey there.

img28.imageshack.us/img28/5900/k2pcm0002.jpg
Depart in Compiègne.

img221.imageshack.us/img221/4479/k2pcm0003.jpg
A bit strange, but we have no breakaway today. 173 rider in the front group.

img221.imageshack.us/img221/9122/k2pcm0004.jpg
At the Trouée d'Arenberg, we have still 153 rider in the peloton. But the pace is getting higher...

img253.imageshack.us/img253/2259/k2pcm0005.jpg
Here at Auchy-les-Orchies à Bersée. And just 26 rider left, including all the favourites and 3 rider from RadioShack, Steegmans, Muravyev and Rosseler.

img139.imageshack.us/img139/9694/k2pcm0006.jpg
29,3 km to the finish, 5 other rider dropped, now just 21 rider in front.

img220.imageshack.us/img220/1475/k2pcm0007.jpg
And at Bourgheles à Wannehain, we see the first accelerations! Björn Leukemans, followed by Boonen and Breschel. But the Rabobank leaders Nuyens and Boom set a high pace at the second group, so the attackers had not a chance.

img168.imageshack.us/img168/5046/k2pcm0008.jpg
In Camphin-en-Pévèle, we see the next attack, now from Flecha, and again Boonen follows. But like before, they did not came away.

img510.imageshack.us/img510/5137/k2pcm0009.jpg
The front group with 12,5 km to go, 19 rider left, and only Maaskant lost contact, the other favourites are still here.

img839.imageshack.us/img839/6140/k2pcm0010.jpg
A last try from Pippo and Boonen with 5,6 km to go. But Flecha closed the gap.

img253.imageshack.us/img253/5613/k2pcm0011.jpg
Now in the velodrome in Roubaix, 3,9 km to the line. Steegmans still in the front group... Will we see the next victory from him?

img261.imageshack.us/img261/9766/k2pcm0012.jpg
The sprint begin, Boonen in front, followed by Pozatto, Eisel, Steegmans and Breschel.

img253.imageshack.us/img253/8837/k2pcm0013.jpg
900m to the line. Pozatto now in front, Eisel, Breschel, Steegmans and Boonen behind him. Boonen slowed down, no victory for him today, while Steegmans makes his move. Can he still reach Pippo?

img259.imageshack.us/img259/6985/k2pcm0014.jpg
No... Steegmans accelerated maybe to late, Pozatto could hold himself in front and can celebrate his victory! Anyway a second place for us.

Of course, we could make our top10, but after the last cobble section, I was really confident that we can get the double at the cobble classics. But still a second place...

Its unfortunate, but you what people might well say following results like this in the two cobbles races!

But great riding and wonderful reporting, I might not always comment but I do always read this one. Great stuff with the whole Radioshack squad!

FreitasPCM
Unrealistic result, but well done with Steegmans!

Pellizotti2
2nd is really good. Steegmans looks to be in good shape.

Oh no, bad luck for Steegmans Sad
But is useless to cry over the spilt milk, the Ardennes classic are coming. Wink

Who will be your captain ?

@Smowz
Thank you Grin I am proud that you like this story. And of course I read your story as well. Good luck for the last Giro-week Wink

@FreitasPCM
Thanks Smile Well, its PCM... And I always have luck, the favourites did not attack much and other rider always worked to close gaps.

@Pellizotti2
Thank you Smile Yeah, Steegmans is up to 95 Points, Muravyev even to 96, but both shapes will go down now.

@StijnDevolder13
Well, it is really bad luck lose a sprint with Steegmans against Pozatto... But I think as a stage race spezialised squad, a victory in Vlaanderen and a second in Roubaix are good.
Yeah, next race is Amstel Gold Smile Our captain there will be Chris Horner, he showed already in Pais Vasco that he is in shape. Our Co-Leader will be Klöden and Popovych.

Thank you Smile

@beagle
No, since my double in Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, I play on hard  I do not know, maybe I have had luck at the cobble classics. And I can understand that it looks very strange, RadioShack was not so good in real life Wink But I have no proof, I can just promise that I play on hard.

@Pellizotti2
Oops... Sorry, I make often mistakes with Pozzato and Bennati Shock
Thank you, I am glad that you like the story Smile

Amstel Gold Race
img130.imageshack.us/img130/1094/amstelgoldracelogo.jpg
The Amstel Gold Race is a road bicycle race held (mostly) in the southern part of the province of Limburg, Netherlands. Since 1989 it has been among the races included in season long rankings tables, as part of the UCI Road World Cup (1989–2004), the UCI ProTour (2005–2008) and the current UCI World Ranking. It is the most important road cycling event of the Netherlands.
The name does not directly refer to the river Amstel, which is far away from the course, but to the sponsor, the Amstel brewery.

Philippe Gilbert
Lombardia-Winner 2009, Paris-Nice 2010 overall victory, 3rd in de Ronde van Vlaanderen. Do we need more arguments?

Damiano Cunego
He already wins here 2008 and after his victory in Tirreno-Adriatico and a strong 5th in Pais Vasco, he showed that he is well prepared.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Joaquím Rodríguez
7th at the End of Paris-Nice, but more important are his great results at the Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco. In this shape, we have to look at him today.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Andy and Fränk Schleck
Normaly, they are big favourites at the ardennes classics, but both had still no victories 2010 and they showed at Pais Vasco, that their shape is still not perfect.

Serguei Ivanov
Just like the Schlecks, his shape is improvable. But he like the race and win last year.

Ryder Hesjedal
He had a good stage race in Pais Vasco, he attacked hard and won stage 5. His shape is good, and with his attacks, he is a serious opponent.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpgimg72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Kim Kirchen
A good 7th in the GC in Pais Vasco. His shape is good, but his problem is that Katusha has two other leader next to him.

Aleksandr Kolobnev
Like Kirchen: A good shape, but not the only captain of his squad.

Chris Horner
"The smiler" has a very good Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco. Showing good performances at the climbs, he was even able to win the final time trial. His shape (90 Pts.) is good, and he will be our leader.

Alberto Contador
Only Sánchez could beat him in Pais Vasco. He is a strong climber, and Astana decided to compete with Alberto and not with Vinokourov (why ever), so his shape can not be to bad.

img72.imageshack.us/img72/52/sternu.jpg
Simon Gerrans
A good puncheur, no good results until yet, but with a third place at the first stage in Pais Vasco, he showed that he will be able to get a Top10.

Michael Albasini
He is not a candidate for the win, and he had showed nothing 2010. But as leader of the Colombia-squad, we can not underestimate him.

Stijn Devolder
"Only" 7th in Roubaix and 8th in Vlaanderen, though he was one of the top favourites. But maybe he had to decided to have his peak at the ardennes classics? We will see...

Andreas Klöden
Our Co-Leader here had a good shape, and we think that he is able to get a Top15 here.

RadioShack: Chris Horner will lead our squad. Co-leader is Andreas Klöden, also Yaroslav Popovych can rode his race, but in case of need, he will help Horner. Sergio Paulinho is still not in shape, he have to help today. Matthew Busche, Ben Hermans and Daryl Impey are helper today.

Maastricht - Valkenburg, 251,3 km
img176.imageshack.us/img176/6223/amstelgoldraceprofile.jpg

Team goals:
- Top 10 (Horner)
- Top 15 (Klöden)

Favourites: see above
My tip: Damiano Cunego was really strong in Spain, and he know how ti win here.
