I hope Nélson Oliveira can win a medal... gold at the least. Grin

There are 4 favourites with Phinney, Oliveira, Kittel and Dowsett.
So I think Dowsett won`t get a medal and Phinney had some strong results in the last weeks, so he`ll probably do it.

Id say it depends upon just how they handle the hills on course, as thats the only thing that is likely to tip it in Oliveira's favour - not that beating Phinney will be easy. But Im really hopeful Dowsett can medal - and I think he should be able to do it.

It would make a nice change for Brits in Under 23 after 4th places in 2009 and 2008 for our best hopes of an U23 medal (Swift and Kennaugh in the Road Races)

First dane is on the road: Jimmi Sørensen. Go go go Jimmy!

The hope for the U23 ITT is Rasmus Quaade, though. He could go top 5.

Are we allowed spoilers in this thread? I know that the News says another one will be openned at some point, but in the meantime what's the rule?

The weather in Geelong today is just mad - parts of the course are raining, parts aren't and the wind is inconsistent.

Yea i think we are allowed to talk about the live race in this thread. The other one is private and for people watching it delayed in europe.

Anyway, it sucks that out of all people to take the gold off Durbridge, it had to be Phinney Sad

What an effort by Durbridge

and a close battle for 3rd as well (with Olivera, the other aussie, Domoulin and Kettel)

What were team GB doing though??? (with dowsett)

EDIT: going to like watching the RR through that Bailee Bridge (220 people through there)

Yep and then a really crap change cost him a good chunk of time.

I'm surprised Durbridge came that close, but it is great to see. It gives me still further hope for the future of Australian cycling.

What a crap win by Phinney.

If it wasn't for Durbridge riding in wet conditions he wouldn't even come close.

Meh. Not impressed by Mini Phinney today. Seems way too limited when going uphill and didn't exactly dominate Kittel/Oliveira either (who did ride in same conditions)

What a crap win by phinney??? just think about that statement and how stupid it is.

I don't understand why you feel the need to critisise Phinney when he wins the gold medal. This is the worlds, it's not about impressing on the route, its about riding the course in the fastest time.

Maybe Phinney isn't in top shape, maybe he didn't have the best day? Anyways in my book, if you win the u23 worlds tt you havent done a bad race.

2013 World Championships will be held in Florence, Italy.

What stupid by saying it's a crap win? It's simply that. Unjustified considering the circumstances.
Durbridge was the best time trialler today not Phinney.

He got lucky with dry conditions and still only won by 1.90 seconds..it's just lame and crappy

And just because I have another opinion than you Goldberger, doesn't mean it's stupid. So sod off. Thanks.

Phinney is a great rider, and more all round than any of the other TTs there. But Today i thought Durbridge was the best, just unlucky timing with his start lost him the race. But that is also the fault of Australia for listing him as their first starter.
