Cavendish won the opening stage yesterday but it was an expected win as most of the sprinters were able able to take part in that sprint due to a late crash in the pack. The Brit is today the main favorite to take the stage win as well, but Freire and Farrar, who both missed the sprint yesterday might interfere with his plans
Nuyens was the strongest climber from a group of 6 escapes and left all the other riders behind on the first climb of the day. But riding almost 100 kilometers by himself has pretty hard for him and he wasn't able to stay in front of the pack on the last climb of the day, where his adventure ended
There we had 5 big names who tried to get away from the pack: Zabriskie, Cancellara, Feillu, Lovkvist and Nocentini. But the only one that was able to make a gap and enter the last 10 kilometers of the day with an advantage of 40 seconds was Lovkvist
Yesterday we had quite a big crash and today doesn't seem to be different. This time the disaster stroke for Liquigas as their 2 leaders, Basso and Pellizotti, went down. No other GC favorites were involved in the crash and even though almost the entire Liquigas team waited for them it was impossible to bring them back in the pack
Lovkvist couldn't stay away alone in front of the pack for too long an inside the last 2 kilometers he was caught by a pack lead by Saxo Bank. This isn't looking too good for Sky, with Lovkvist caught and with Hagen and Vigano not being able to follow Flecha in the first part of the sprint
The Saxo Bank train made by O'Grady and Cancellara stayed in front for an while but even though he didn't have a great position at the start of the sprint it was Cavendish who accelerated in the final kilometer and took the lead
And it's a double for the Columbia rider, clearly the fastest rider in the pack at the moment! The Liquigas team came 3 minutes and a half behind the pack which means that is pretty much over for Basso and Pellizotti. Two other favorites, despite not being involved in any kind of incident today lost time: Mencovh and Hoogerland. If the Russian barely lost one minute and a half, Hoogerland finished the race 8 minutes behind Cavendish

not really. He's under contract with Columbia until 2011 I thinks. So maybe the 2 seasons after this one, if the story it's going to last that much

With yesterday's stage Paris - Nice ended for the sprinters as we are heading to the last 3 stages of the race, the decisive ones. Today we have the queen stage of the race, the only one that ends in an ascent. Valverde should some good shape so far but it will be interesting if he will be able keep it up on the last climb with the best climber in the World at the moment, Alberto Contador. As for us, Wiggins' fitness seems to be going up and with a bit of luck he might be able to climb with the best today
No one was able to breakaway from the pack today and with 50 kilometers it was Evans who tried an unexpected attack. A group of other attackers was formed behind him, which included Kloden, but only Evans had the power to stay in front for an while, with the others being caught one by one behind the final climb
Evans started the final ascent of the day with an advantage of over one minute in front of the pack. At the foot of the climb to French riders got away from the pack. They were Le Mevel and Chavanel but they didn't manage to make a big gap between themselves and the pack
With just 7 kilometers until the finish, the big attacks started in the pack, with Anton, Monfort, Gerdemann, Joly and Contador making the first moves
As soon as they saw Contador going away, Valverde and Armstrong were right after him. Fedrigo and Mouncutie also came with them as well as many other riders, including Wiggins
Evans couldn't stay alone in front for too long and with less than 3 kilometers before the finish he was caught by a group with Contador, Le Mevel, Valverde, Mouncutie and Armstrong. The chasers, lead by Gerdemann and Fedrigo aren't far either
Before the last kilometer more riders, Gerdemann, Vande Velde, Fedrigo, Anton, Wiggins, Chavanel and Monfort, joined the group to bring to number of riders in the leading group to 13. And it looks like it's going to be a sprint between them for the stage win...
Mouncutie and Armstrong were the only riders that actually tried to keep it with the Spanish duo, made by Valverde and Contador, in the last kilometer but it was almost impossible for them to hang on
Condator didn't stand a chance in a sprint against Valverde who extends his lead with today's victory. Even though 13 riders were in the leading group as the race reached its last kilometer we saw some quite big time gaps at the end, Contador even losing 5 seconds to Valverde. Wiggins finished 55 seconds behind the yellow jersey but he is still outside the top 30, almost 5 minutes behind Valverde in the overall rankings

If there's going to be a second season it will most likely going to be on extreme. So I guess that will compensate Cavendish' amazing sprint abilities in case we manage to sign him in the following years.
But there's still a long way until that

Why should it be bad
like there is coming someone and says:"this story is the worsest ever made. you are a grumpy idiot"
That will sound totally weird in this story.Because it's just that amazing |
