With a LOT of help. He was one out of about four who had proper wind conditions. Jacobsen, who has done just as good in training, got his jump wrecked by the conditions. |

Well the German except Neumayer also hadn´t really great wind conditions. But Simmi would also win without any wind support |

I'm not saying that he wouldn't, but he was lucky with the conditions in comparision with the others |

Perfect race by the Swedish. Olsson in front while Södergren and Hellner slowed the pack. Northug was unlucky to loose his pole, I don't think Hellner would have won if he had to sprint against Nortthug. |

yup, good that Olsson got a medal after all that effort.
Nordhug clearly just gave up.

as a cycling fan, i loved to watch these 30km from start to finish
Bauer was leading all race, to drop Northug, but in the end he helped others
Olssons totally crazy attack and breakaway, witch i thought will go nowhere, Sweden showed really good tactis and strategy
i think cross-country is becoming more equal in all tactics to cycling

Meh, Northug had a really tough day today, it seams like his form is not quite were it should be. I do not really think that incident mattered to much, he would probobly have missed out on a medal anyway.
Good race today. Creds to the Swedes, very impressive teamplay.
And yeah, cross country is slowly becoming more and more similar to cycling, commentators have said that for several years allready. Team tactics wise the sport is still in its juvenile stage though, but what the Swedes showed today was really something special. I hope we will see more to races like today in the future. |

It seems that Northug had a damaged pole in about 500m, which will make you use much more effort on the legs and on the other arm. When you are already tired that is a long way to go with just one working pole. It destroyed his race today and he looked stronger today than on the sprint.
And don't forget that Northug always looks like he is struggling in mass starts because he lets himself farther back in the pack than any of his rivals do. Every time Bauer and Cologna looked like they were about to make a gap he was up there controlling them.

Time for conspiracy theories!
https://terrengsyk...ellner.png
He is probably just about to tell Northug that he is coming fast from behind, but from this picture it looks like Hellner is tampering with Northugs pole

Northugs pole broked but no that one so he can´t complain about that,
And you are allowed to do so if you are faster downhill |

Swedish tactics were brutal, Hellner was blocking them all to help Olsson, but hat is the way of modern sport
Go Roman!

They were only blocking once, until Legkov took the matter into his own hands. The rest of the time you could easily go past Hellner, the pack was just stupid enough to let Hellner set the pace
