As most here has found out there is 3 that can win thoose 3 are Di Luca, Leipheimer and Menchov.
Di Luca: He has shown great form this year, and will be able to take some more bonus seconds along the way, but in the real mountains he won't be as good as the other two, and he'd lose time in the final TT
Levi: He has the best team, and will be able to control the race during the last week here, he should do better in the high mountains than Di Luca, and is more or less equal there with Menchov. Properbly the best of the 3 in the final TT.
Menchov: Seems to be in topform at the moment, and he should be able to pull time out of Di Luca and possibly Leipeihmer if the two get to the finishg together. He ain't as good as Levi on a flat TT, but with his current form anything could happened. Another that counts down for Menchov is that he hasn't had his regular bad day in the mountains.
Conclusion: It's gonna be between Levi and Menchov, after Blockhaus we'll know much mroe about whos gonna win.

Leipheimer is 35, almost 36 and still no win in GTs, that should say something about his GT abilities

But his 2 best GTs are over the past 2 years, which shows that his abilities are just getting better...
2007: 3rd in Tour
2008: 2nd in Vuelta
2009: 1st in Giro???
If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.

I'm sure he was expecting to win a lot of time yesterday, but he didn't, he even lost time to Menchov

Levi has much more probabilities to win than Menchov, because he has a better team as he is strongest on the mountains (at least is that what looks like I think).
Btw... I think Armstrong have been doing a good race till now, with is form improving each day that passes, so he might just not be a helper to Contador in Le Tour.
But its too soon to talk about that So far Menchov was stronger on the climbs, even in the TT Menchov climbed much stronger (about 40 seconds).. so uhm, no.
If Levi has probabilities to win, he should stay close for the final time trial. There is not much chance of him dropping Menchov uphill.

i agree, unless some others who have to take lots of time start attacking very early in the climb, in an attempt to try to isolate Menchov and try to make Menchov do all the work |

Plus in Menchov's advantage, he won 2 GT's. Leipheimer none. I think Menchov has more experience on how to handle this. |

Menchov has been so cool and calm.
Before the Giro and even now I forgot , that this is ain't TdF..where he always fails.
If he wins this ..this is hugh. Vuelta is always like season "rebound" for me (and even for Spanish rider's )..Giro is something different.
and seems like russians are good in Giro.

The result, 13th overall and 2:26 behind winner Denis Menchov, did not seem to please Armstrong. After his first major trial in four years, he avoided speaking to the gathered press. It was the seventh day in a row that Armstrong refused to comment, which many believe due to a dispute with race organiser RCS Sport over Sunday's Milan stage.
Revenge after Milano stage and RCS comment..If you say that ..I wont talk at all..and you aint nothing to print in newspapers.. |

exactly and though that Leipheimer is older than Menchov he never was in the position to acctualy fight for a GT win, not the same about Menchov.
Leipheimer even left Rabo when Menchov came, or something like, so yeah Menchov is stronger than Levi.
and Guido Menchov always seems to be cool and relaxed

There is such a thing as "breakway intelligence". How good a rider is at picking the right break, and picking the right stage to breakaway.
Ignatiev has none.
Every year at the Giro you can be damn sure Ignatiev will be on the BOTD in 3 or 4 stages, and every single one of them will be a stage where it's clear to everyone with a brain that the break has no chance.
Today is one such day

Another win for Cav. The best and fastest sprinter in cycling at the moment. |
