Well, there goes my nice weekend of cycling. Both mine and my fathers bike got stolen at the start of the Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne Cyclo this morning. If I ever find the **** who did this, I won't stand for the consequences.
, what kind of person does a thing like that
Cycling isn't a sport, it's a passion.

maybe you should ask him why people would do that

Epic stuff Strydz, well done! Must have been some challenging logistics to get enough calories in that day - did you get to take a quick nap at least?!
Thanks mate
I stuck to the plan I laid out but eating towards the end was getting difficult, I had no nap in fact other than sitting on my bike when riding I did not sit down once during the whole ride including rest stops.

Great stuff. What's good to eat when you're riding for 17 hours? Other than anything you can lay your hands on |

I know we mentioned GPS problems on the last page, well found a great tool for when you miss out on Strava segment data due to an errant GPS:
https://strava-tools.raceshape.com/snap/
Another great job by Race Shape, it lets you select part of the ride and snap the route back to the road. You then upload the corrected file and delete the old one. Voila the segment should show up correctly.
Note that it chopped off 60m of vertical ascent from my ride for no apparent reason (suspect that was the bit I corrected) so if that bothers you steer clear
Also, courtesy of Felix, if you've ever had the problem of achievements not showing on Strava as well as unhiding the segment (hover to right of segment listing on the activity page and unhide option appears) try also changing the activity type to ski-ing or some such then switching it back to cycling - trophies should then show.

A write up on Cyclingtips on the Everest ride attempts that went on last weekend, it gives a bit of an insight on why we did it

Can somebody recommend some very very very thight bibshorts, which have relatively long legs and straps? I ordered some "cheap" Castelli ones, which fitted perfectly except for the way too short straps.
I currently ride with my old team bibs, which are either slightly to large or to small and are falling apart.

Rode a bike for a first time in past 1,5 year (i was injured) and i felt somehow different and absolutely great!
My brother woke me up accidently at 6am this morning and i couldn't sleep more, so i decided it's the time for some cycling again. Although there is still some snow over here, roads are very wet and it's around 0°C i decided to try and i felt great. It was nothing special in terms of average speed/distance , but at least i sat on the bike after long pause.

Good for you. Certainly gives me a sense of freedom when I'm out and about, especially if you are riding somewhere new. |

Looks like you enjoyed it. Riding when there's harsh conditions outside can be very entertaining and enjoyable.
Important thing is to keep at it now. Don't let another year pass mate.

Yep, it really gives feeling of freedom after being passive all this time.
I'll surely continue riding, Shonak! When i get a bit in shape and start some serious rides (over 50-60kms), will might even record few of them on Strava.

Giodana forma reds are quite good, if you shop around you can get a good deal. I just finished a ride in them over 160 k's and about 7.5 hours and they were perfect.

Derailleur hangers are the weakest point of the drive train, they are designed to snap off in a crash or under extreme stress so its saves the Derailleur from being destroyed.I have had it happen to me when I was fixing a rear wheel puncture, its very frustrating

Happened to me last Summer as well. Somehow the screw had gone somewhere and I hadn't notice. Until the derailleur simply fell (like on the picture above) after 20 m of a ride. Bummer.
I used a spare crank screw as a replacement, it works fine. Not sure about the screw diameters on a Shimano drive train though, nor if you have a spare.
Nice chain cover too.

thanks for the advice but I think that one was fatal (for my bike ) because not only the derailleur needs to be replaced but also both wheels, chains, gears, brakes and the derailleur on at the front gear as well (since that's stuck). and since I'm getting a new bike because of the dutch bike plan (basically a free bike every 3 years) I'm doubting if it's worth fixing

I managed a new best effort on one minute (according to Strava at least, and since I've been using it) : 674 Watts (8,99 W/kg).
Beware, Bjarne Riis, I'm coming for you.
