With me it's quite opposite, I win lots of sprints, but hardly ever a mountain stage (except on easy ). |

The same day as the Hel van het Mergelland, our hilly group takes part in the Gran Premio Miguel Indurain. It's a nice hilly race in the North of Spain, that can be used as a great preparation for the Vuelta a Pais Vasco and Ardennes classics.
Last year, the race was won by Rubén Plaza, while we didn't participate.

Our team
The favourites
*** Peter Sagan, Jure Kocjan (Team Type 1), Benat Intxausti (Euskaltel).
** Michele Scarponi (Nespresso), Danilo Di Luca (Acqua et Sapone), Andy Schleck.
* Jésus Herrada (Caja Rural), Gabriele Bosisio (Liquigas), Rafael Valls (Nespresso).
Our goal
Top 3.
The race
51km to go
A pretty strong breakaway has got a margin of 3'20 with 51km to go. Luis Pasamontes (Andalucia), Alexander Efimkin (Team Type 1), David De la Fuente (LA), JA Gómez Marchante (Euskaltel), Constantino Zaballa (Pisanellastoria) and André Vidal (Tavira) make the peloton to work hard in chasing them.
19km to go
Climbing the big hill for the last time, the margin of the leading group has been decreased to 1 minute. We decide to open the final of the race, with an attack by Andy Schleck. Only Danilo Di Luca tries to counter him.
10km to go
Due to his fairly weak fitness (78), Schleck can't bring this attack to a leading position. He has to take place in the group again. With 10km to go, José Ángel Gómez Marchante, who has attacked out of the leading group, still leads, with a margin of '40 to Brice Feillu (Saur) and '52 to a chasing group of 19, including our most important riders.
3km to go
Gómez Marchante can stay out of reach of the first chasing group untill 3km to go. Then he gets passed by Liquigas Gabriele Bosisio, who used the small last hill to attack. But '12 behind comes the group, with Andy Schleck in the lead, leading out Thomas De Gendt and Peter Sagan.
Finish
Peter Sagan is launched with 1500m to go, and closes the gap to Bosisio. Only 100 metres before the finish, he passes the poor Italian rider, and wins the Gran Premio Miguel Indurain!
A great ride by the Slovakian, who seems to be build for races like these.

I've played the Ronde van Vlaanderen, have to make the report now. What I can tell you, is that the race was pretty boring. If that is a good or bad sign....... You'll see!
