Stijn: The Giro has arrived. I had some goals in the start of the season. My first big goal has failed: win a monument. My next one is the Points Jersey in a Grand Tour. I will give everything I've got here!

Willy: I've lived up to this day for the past eight months, maybe even longer. After my surprising result in the Tour, I've started dreaming about winning a Grand Tour myself. This Giro is all about that. The startlist is at my side. Biggest competitors: Kreuziger, Machado (last year's winner) and Colombians Uran and Henao.

I had the best prologue ever. Ever since I joined Garmin, I've been getting better on a time trial better with every training. It's simply amazing. I set the best provisional time and finish fifth!

Willy Wouters


I have never been more focused. Winning the Giro at age 24, it should be possible! I'm a strong climber and I believe in my chances. The World Champion Jersey gave me the strength to fly across the streets of Taranto.

Stijn: Willy's already gone to bed now to get some rest. Like I said before: he's the most focused rider I've ever seen in my life. His pink jersey lays carefully folded on his chair. It's an amazing site. You can watch the picture on twitter on his account! I was impressed by him today. We train together so much but I've never seen him perform like this. He squashed the opposition and is in the shape of his life. If I was up against him for the next three weeks, I'd be scared as hell.

Tomorrow is a stage for the sprinters. Unlucky for me, the sprinters field is quite stronger, with Démare, fastest man alive, here. Yes, fastest man, these days it's common knowledge Cavendish is weakening, getting older. We have a large team to defend the pink, I hope I can ride my own Giro and sprint, but if I have to, I will work for Willy.

Jesleyh - Kelderman only has 9 race days so far Pfft (he didn't have much planned + small illness so he missed a race) I'm saving him to be fresh for the Tour and potentially the Vuelta!

The Giro starts good with Willy not only winning the Prologue but also scoring the first Pink Jersey while Stjin also scores the first points towards the Points Jersey. Let's hope Willy can keep the 21 days with the Pink jersey.

Willy will win with more than 10 minutes.The competiton is very lame.He probably is the best MO and the best TT riders by a big margin.Maybe he can win the GC,KOM and Points.

Well, don't forget that guys like Machado, Kreuzinger & the Colombians developed hard as well! It's not like the best competitor of Willy has 77/78 MO, I'm sure they are in the 80's(at least most of them) Wink

True. Remember this is a Tiago Machado that actually manage to win a GT and is probably considered the best Portuguese rider of the recent years while Kreuziger is always a strong rider. Though i predict Richie Port to be Androni's leader (Odd team choice by him though. PCM logic at it's best.)
