Great end to a disappointing Tour. Too bad Sánchez couldn't keep up with the best in the mountains. Great comeback by him finishing in Top 15, though. In general, a good Tour for him.
Haussler also did well, surviving the mountains. It's just bad luck he couldn't get enough points in the sprints to get the points jersey. Still, he got a nice stage win and 5th in points rankings. Nice Tour for him too.

Excellent reports! We know it wasn't a great TdF for the team, but you got the stage win (we know that this is the race where everyone wants a stage win).
What's your plans for the rest of the season? Vuelta, WCs? |

Thanks both.
Totally agree with your points.
Plans for the rest of the season are good results in Pologne (Martin), Eneco (Boom), Vuelta (Hesjedal, Rojas), WC (Boom?). Also other races are interesting as for example the Canadian PT classics, San Sebastian or Lombardia. We`ll see how much is possible.

Astana very dominant here. And no stage win for a French team or a French rider. Therefore LeMevel as 5th in the overall with a very good result.

Surprises:
- Le Mevel as 5th and Seeldrayers 11th after spending most time as 6th were definitely not expected. Very strong performances by them.
- Boonen winning a stage in the first flat stages could have been expected after last year`s TdF, but that he wins 3 consecutive sprints against strong sprinters was again a proof of his strenght.
- Skil Shimano`s 2nd stage win in a 2012 GT. (Docker in Giro, Veelers in Tour)
- Omega Pharma - Lotto`s team performance. Van Den Broeck was expected to be strong. But also Lövkvist and Seeldraeyers showed a very strong performance, while Peraud was very active in the breakaways.
- Cadel Evans` very attacking riding on almost every mountain stage. A shame that he couldn`t grab a stage win for this efforts.
- Haussler made it over all mountain passes in the time limit. Sagan was expected to finish the race. Also Hagen was expected but was disqualified. All other sprinters were expected to go home earlier. Haussler proved them wrong.
Disappointments:
- Rabobank. With Rogers and Ten Dam they had good riders here. But you haven`t seen a lot of them in the mountains. That`s not enough to stay in the Pro Tour, where they are last at the moment.
- RadioShack. Time to renew their squad. Too many old riders. Lance Armstrong still riding the Tour de France in 2012 says enough I think.
Brajkovic and Spilak with some nice results but too less for their big ambitions. No rider in the top 20 and Brajkovic behind Leipheimer, who decreased a lot.
- Basso`s overall results. After missing his goals in the Giro he also missed the big coup in the Tour. Just the 21st for him after being 9th in the Giro. Not much time left to win another GT in his career.
- French teams/riders. It`s not that they haven`t tried. But a whole GT without any French win is a disappointment for them.
(Le Mevel), Bouet, Peraud, Casar or Di Gregorio showed some aggressive riding style, but without success. Le Mevel`s 5th in the overall of course is a great result for them.
- Garmin`s top 10 ambitions. Well, top 15 is not bad. Especially in such a hard variant. But Le Mevel or Seeldraeyers showed how to perform with weaker mountain skills. Although we aren`t unhappy, we didn`t acchieved our set goals.
Garmin riders
Sanchez did as good as possible. He started struggling into the mountains but came back in the third week. No stage win but a nice podium on the hard 16th stage.
Fuglsang was his helper on the final climb and also our most active rider in the third week. A pity that he couldn`t reward himself with the mountain jersey or a stage win.
Haussler started with bad legs into the Tour and missed the opportunity to collect points in the flat stages in the first half, where Boonen dominated. Therefore great results in the classic stages of Roubaix, Tours and San Sebastian. Highlight of course his stage win on the last flat stage.
Top5 in the Point ranking in such a hard GT is definitely a great result.
Vansummeren had often bad luck with his breakaway groups. But in general a solid performance by him. Highlight for him the Arenberg stage, where he showed a great performance.
Lowe was a loyal helper in the mountains. Unfortunately he had the same problem as always. He starts struggling way too early and so our leaders were isolated before the final climb.
Löw with a strong performance. In his first GT the young German showed some strong performances as helper in the mountains. More wasn`t expected.
Millar had some good days in his last ever GT. He was a great support for Haussler in most stages and also on the first half of the harder stages as bottle carrier.
Hunter and Meyer were early victims of the hard profiles. They felt out of the time limit in the 2nd week as many other riders. Nothing they must be angry about. |

Thanks for the comments.
@ shin0da_13: I just googled 200x200 garmin or something like this as I needed something for Löw. This was the best I think. But indeed looks a bit weird. |

Pretty good summary of the Tour. Shame you didn't get a top-10, but top-15 is positive after all. |

Thanks a lot all.
Next race won`t be today I think.
Still tired of watching NBA Finals yesterday and going for a ride now for ~2 hours.
Next race will be San Sebastian with Sanchez and Vansummeren being my leaders if I remember right. |

Unfortunately American Sports is in the mid of the night in Germany.
Yesterday it was 3-5.30 a.m.
But obviously it was worth it. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Norway in the same time zone as Germany ?
Anyway, go Dirk |

I must say the tour this year was really exciting, except for the overall win. Contador was dominating all the way. Too bad you lost so much time on the first mountain stages cus if not im pretty sure you could've ended top 10! I enjoyed that the flat stages ended up in mass-sprints, too bad that the green jersey was handed out to a climber Anyway, good performance by your team. They sure put some colour on this years addition! Good luck in the Vuealta and the WC! Looking forward to it! |

Thanks.
Just played San Sebastian but it crashed in between for some reason. So I have to play it again. At least I have the start list now to make the presentation.
Stage probably not today as the weather is too good for sitting in my room. |
