Hm, so lately I had some really weird uploaded data on strava. While most of the route was actually intact and valid, quite some annoying gaps occured and other failures & bugs. I think it's because my phone lost the GPS signal. I downloaded an app now that will keep the signal intact (hopefully) and maybe it will work right again. Strange stuff. Otherwise I might have to give up on strava or buy me a garmin thingy.
Might also be due to an autopause thingy in your phone.
Another possibility is that the phone app only records a data point every 4 to 15 seconds or so, sometimes with an even bigger time gap. On a Garmin you can force a data point per second.
This, although I used Endomondo on an entry level HTC phone and was pleasantly surprised at how rock solid the GPS signal was. In 6 months it never once lost the signal even under partial tree coverage.
If you are particularly bothered and the info is more garbled then lost it might be worth emailing Strava support as they can sometimes sort out an off route gps etc and restore the data. Doubt that's much help if the signal was totally lost though |

Well, since it worked the first weeks without problems I actually think more that maybe the GPS antenna is broken or something like that. I'll go for a ride tomorrow though and see how it works with the new app. Maybe it does have something to do with the settings of my phone, which I'd prefer obviously.
@ianrussell: Yeah, it's more of a lost signal than the wrong road or data. Based upon the signal points, it just creates a route... which is actually not that wrong, but well... not right. While riding is still acceptable, the two-three last times running ended up majorly weird. Today it was particularly troublesome when I went for a 5 km run and Strava turned it into an over 16 km run... Really hope that this app ( https://play.goog...&hl=en ) will fix this issue. Crossing my fingers.

First longer ride after my trip to Spain and after spraining my ankle this weekend. It held up pretty nice.
Alone in the wind, HR was still a little to high, but had power in the legs. Bring on the Classics.

Yeah, night rides have their... tricky and scary parts , especially going downhill. But it's also a quite special feeling I'd say.
Oh, and I actually managed to fix the satellite problem. At least I think I did. Turns out, you can like delete GPS data with an APP like GPS Status much like internet cache and thus it works good again... If anyone encounters similiar problems with his android app at strava, this may help too:
Perform an "AGPS reset": Install the App GPS Status & Toolbox, then in that app, go to Menu -> Tools ->
Manage A-GPS State -> Reset, and then Menu -> Tools -> Manage A-GPS State -> Download.

My first real exercise. Was quite tough, and I think I overdid it a little. Anyway, I did finish it without breaks, so I'm quite satisfied

Tough week-end here, doing the two February Strava endurance challenge. 22 km running yesterday (I had not done such a length since October), then 134 km today on the bike in an incredible wind (at one point it was perfectly flat on a nice road, I was riding at 20 km/h, sometimes 22).
Also I'm pretty sure people use things such as traffic signs in some countries. Not here obviously. I took the wrong roads and had to stop several times to use google maps because of a lack of traffic signs. |

I did this route a few weeks ago.
Also with a strong head wind when going south.
It was very fun though with the wind at the back.

That's a productive weekend! Not much different with road signs or the wind here - as soon as you're out of town street name signs start disappearing while I really felt the wind during a long one on Friday.
The only thing that keeps me (mostly) straight when I'm on a new route is a look at Google Maps street view beforehand for the key junctions. |

There's me worrying about leaving my worthless hybrid bike for a few seconds, enough to get a basic ABUS pocket sized lock, when someone pulls up at the cafe stop all Ultegra, leaves accessories, helmet and shiny Garmin 810 blowing in the wind and waltzes off without so much as a backward glance.
Was tempting to mount the wrong bike on the way out, he can keep my lock...

I'm sort of paranoid when it comes to securing my bikes and rarely can leave the for more than a few seconds without a glance on it. However nothing has ever happened but maybe that's because of my slight paranoia?

Yeah I'm the same. Getting the little, light ABUS lock was great for peace of mind. It can be cut through in a second but for a quick pop into a shop it's perfect to stop an opportunist riding off.
Very pleased with my last ride - 3 personal bests on the 3 hills on the route and the legs felt good. A few extra km's recently seem to be paying off, well in relative terms |

Crashed and destroyed my right buttock and the coccyx during a ride on our training camp today, and will probably lose the last days of training. Poor, after 34 hours of riding last week. My back hurts like hell now, and I suppose it will be even worse when I go to sleep. Absolutely no skin left. |

Haven't updated my Strava in a while. I'll do it this afternoon. All my data is still on my Garmin.
Here's an update on my cycling life:
I'm competing in the MTN National MTB Marathon series. Since I'm racing junior, we only do the half marathon, which is about 45km. I finished 4th in the first round (I was racing at an altitude of 2100m and I am from sea level so I was at quite a disadvantage.
At the the second round (race was at 1000m altitude) I was in a large chase group in pursuit of 3 leaders 30 seconds ahead. After about 15km I was preparing to attack on the next big climb and bridge up to the leaders. Unfortunately I slashed my back tire and dented my rim on a downhill 2km before the climb started. It started leaking at the rim, so trying to fix the puncture was much harder than the usual plugging of a flat. I ended up finishing like 20th because of the puncture. Which is unfortunate because the guys who ended up 2nd and 3rd at round 2, I beat in round 1. Round 3 is on 15 March.
In other news:
I'm still racing junior next year and I made it my goal to...
Be selected for 2015 Road World Champs!
It is pretty realistic seeing as I know I'll be one of the strongest junior climbers next year My MTBing gives me a good background for that. And for the cobbles in Richmond, VA
