The Edge 500. Has everything i need, including the ability to copy tacks on it. The Edge 800/810-line is too bulky and the 510 doesn't have features that justify the extra $$$ for me.

I was hoping to go for a ride this afternoon, but with me just being recovered from a cold and the weather becoming very dutch, I decided to not do it and wait for better weather.

Ah nice, that's the one I went for in the end. Didn't need mapping and wouldn't use most of the additional stuff on the 510 so might as well go for the cheaper, compact option.
Edit: You are probably already well aware but 2 things that belatedly occured to me about the 500 after using mine for a couple of months:
- double check the USB port cover pre ride and thoroughly dry that whole area post ride as it's the one area vulnerable to mositure
- if accurate elevation bothers you set your typical ride start elevation otherwise the first reading is a GPS guesstimate every ride (e.g. mine put me at over 150m today until it read my entered point when I am actually at 23m) - may not bother many however as total elevation still stands, just if you like making pretty profile pictures.

Good call. I actually got some sunshine on a day off...just after the latest flood warning had cleared. All good, the weather cleared just after the stage in Dubai finished

Maybe not cycling; but still hard as hell.

54 km ski racing in the worst possible conditions. Haven't been as tired since the same race last year, I think. Slept 15 hours tonight. |

Finished my 'trainingcamp' in Calpe today. Managed to get a nice amount of km's in 5 days, especially since I just finished my university exams last week. A lot of climbing here (and I'm not the climbing type 195 cm and 80 kg), which should help me come the classics.
Back to Belgium and bad wheather tomorrow
Yesterday I did a little climbing interval, held an average heartrate of 186 for 10 min. Makes me happy to see my body cope with that, means I have a nice base to build on.

Gotta love Strava. Looks like I've become a scary thing for local triathletes.
I randomly read the comments on one of them's ride, with anther of them teasing the guy who did the ride, claiming it was good for him to set and better his time on a certain segment, before *my name* would go on a (KOM) hunt. I don't know the guys.

Haha. Is this the official sign that you have made it to strava prominence?
I guess everybody has that guy on his local climbs who dominates every single one of them. Only natural for them to talk about it. I myself have decided to follow the King of the Mountain in my region like a good little minion and give kudos to his climbs...

only have 1 real catorgory KOM (4) but that's a strava glitch as it 's more of a downhill then going up (which it doesn't at all)

First ride with my Garmin:
https://www.strava...2493752409
Windy as shit and much warmer than the weather forcast said, so i had to stop and get rid of some layers at around KM 7. Forgot to press the start button which explains the the straight line on the map and the sudden jump in altitude, but already got the first KOM.

A bit of fun today
https://www.strava.com/activities/1141.../114176387
Need new shoes as on these rides my feet are getting sore, think my shoes stretched riding through winter. Have a ride that should shake down to about 360 k's on the 28th with a large amount of vertical so comfortable feet is important.
Also nice to see a few more members in our Strava club

Hm, so lately I had some really weird uploaded data on strava. While most of the route was actually intact and valid, quite some annoying gaps occured and other failures & bugs. I think it's because my phone lost the GPS signal. I downloaded an app now that will keep the signal intact (hopefully) and maybe it will work right again. Strange stuff. Otherwise I might have to give up on strava or buy me a garmin thingy.

Might also be due to an autopause thingy in your phone.
Another possibility is that the phone app only records a data point every 4 to 15 seconds or so, sometimes with an even bigger time gap. On a Garmin you can force a data point per second. |
