I'm afraid the most difficult thing about Gesink will be to get Jacky Durand and his Fr Eurosport fellow to stop calling him Rrrezink.
Now, more seriously (although the former is dead serious), I never trusted Thomas Dekker as a clean rider, but I have no opinion about Gesink. No fact, to my knowledge, making me think one thing or the other. Would you tell me more, Ruben, or anyone with some knowledge ?
Nothing, no rumors or stories at all. Then again, Gesink was never exactly the winner of many races. Usually had to fight against better riders all his career. Not comparable to the likes of Dekker, Ricco etc who dominated since their youth.
Gesink is famous for his test-scores at Rabobank though, they are always said to be fenomenal. The first rider to reach 500W at some sort of treshold test, first rider above 7 w/kg. Rider with the fastest recovery, etc etc etc. Although I always thought these tests don't say everything.
I mean, Bertogliati should have been a world beater with his test scores and he amounted nothing

Choose one of the dutch speakers, then type "Gesink" and hit play....you'll be surprised.

Wow that text-to-speech software has some developing to do. They completely mispronounce it, no matter which part of the Netherlands you visit, I assure you nobody would say it like that.
Try typing Geesink and then run https://www.acapel...-demo.html with a dutch speaker
Then you get the actualy way of pronouncing Gesink correctly |

Still depends. In the large parts of the Netherlands they use the 'hard G' which is somewhat of a weird sound (to me anyway).
Like they are trying to spit. Ghhrhrhresink.
But in southern-east Netherlands, we use a soft G (kinda like the normal English G)...
Still following? |

Lies. I've heard Ruben pronounce it Gayfink. So that's the pronunciation i'm going with.

Now that is confusing. The first two do one weird sound, but the third and fourth one clearly sound like Resink.
Thus, I hereby declare I'll remain out of any PCM.daily voice chat for any race that has Robert Gesink competing ! |

I've found the right formula. Just type Robertt Geesink and you'll get the right pronunciation.
Edit: and use Femke's voice. THe others ones are wrong.

For Paris-Tours I'd bet on one of these three: Gilbert, R. Feillu and Breschel. |

I believe Gilbert, Pozzato, Breschel, Eisel, Sagan, Bozic, Weylandt and Voeckler are the riders who can win Paris-Tours today. My money are on Pozzato.

If Gilbert has kept his form from the Worlds, then he has to be the favourite to me, but otherwise Pozzatto could probably do something. |

Hmm... The tennis final has been delayed due to rain. Doesn't look like it will stop any time soon, but I'm guessing that if they play, there'll be no cycling on Eurosport Nordic |

I'm taking that back for two reasons:
1) It's also being aired on another channel that I have (yay!)
2) It's 21/22 or something like that in China right now. There's no chance they'll be able to play today. |
