Caleb Ewan won Stage 2 of Tour of Alsace. Quite the talent.

He keeps doing it, amazing.

Tour Alsace, Stage 2: Mulhouse - Huningue (157.1 km) (2.2)

Nr. 10 looks like a bad guy to me. Grin

1 Teklehaimanot (OGE), 2 Madrazo (MOV), 3 Arroto (CJR), 4 Sulzberger (OGE) & 5 Herrada (MOV)

Massive for African cycling. After a hard start to the year for Teklehaminot due to personal issues, great way to start his run into the Vuelta.

Nice to see Teklehaimanot do well. I've been quietly rooting for him since his Tour de l'Avenir performance in 09 I think it was. He had a pretty good neopro season last year, no big results, but he did ride well. I remember him in the Vuelta being an important part of the Greenedge train. This year has been tough for him, so it's nice to see things going his way, and not a bad group of riders he beat either.

A win for Teklehaimanot, awesome! Great to see he is starting his season well after having to wait until the Dauphine for it to begin.

It's weird seeing Walsleben wins a road stage but not a cyclocross race, after switching from the U23 to the pros there.

Agreed I've been watching him and hoping he will do something. Cycling needs more non-Western riders who are more than just additions for UCI points or sponsors. Teklehaimanot is one such rider. Though I remember the Vuelta differently to you clearly as I remember him lacking some basic understanding of pacing his team - he went too hard up some climbs and wasn't doing the length of turns the team needed. Though as a neo-pro from outside Europe that's to be expected. Hopefully he will do better this time.
