No offense, but if only 70-130 riders even reach the goal in time limit, that's simple not realistic and no fun to me |

Thanks for all the comments although I really suck in the mountain stages at the moment.
I have to agree with Anonymer. It`s a nice variant but if you don`t have one of the 3 best climbers it`s just suffering on all the hard mountain stages.
So I just can fight for a top20 and stage wins now. ;( |

It was a really hard stage! Maybe you can drop back with Fuglsang and try to aim for the polka dots or a stage win?
Succes!

You should try for a stage win now.

I will give it a try of course. Nothing to lose any longer. ;(
As you will see quite the same on the next 2 stages. Tour with overpowered teams as Astana and Leopard on extreme is just not nice to play.
Tour de France - Stage 13
Bagneres-de-Bigorre - Sarroqueta
Another really hard stage. Hopefully Sanchez won`t lose contact as early as yesterday. He is already peaking but no chance at all as soon as Schleck and Soler are doing the pace. These two are just two strong, especially when guys like Gerdemann, Velits or Porte were doing the pace before until they exhaust.
Nibali (Liquigas), Evans (Leopard), Bouet (Movistar) and Fuglsang (Garmin) in the break. Nibali of course the strongest here. Fuglsang with almost 25min back in the overall is the best placed of them.
But the peloton never really let them go and so lots of further attacks hold the pace very high.
In the end Fuglsang had to fall back and Nibali went away solo again with Bouet and Gadret chasing him.
Already on the 2nd climb Sanchez and Fuglsang had no helper in their group. which was reduced on 50 riders.
After Van Den Broeck`s attack and Contador`s counter the group splitted. Sanchez wasn`t able to follow the pace and felt back again. What a pity.
Meanwhile Nibali really takes the stage win after a great solo ride. Just bad luck that Fuglsang was caught earlier the day.
His team mate Basso makes the Lampre day perfect. He finishes 4'34 later together with Contador, Schleck and Gesink.
Sanchez loses ~4min on this group today but still in the top20.
Definitely a Tour de France to forget for our team.
Only "good" news for our team was that Haussler finished in the time limit. Other sprinters like former stage winner Davis abandoned.
So there are just 3 real sprinters left for the last flat stage in 2 days: Haussler, Boasson Hagen and Sagan.
Also Löw is doing quite well as 55th today in his 2nd year as pro and first GT.

Tour de France - Stage 14
El Port de Suert - Andorre Arcalis
Less climbs today but therefore very long climbs with the finish in Andorre Arcalis.
Small consolation for our team. Haussler is wearing the green jersey as 2nd in the ranking behind Contador. Qutie a surprise actually after failing in the first flat stages. If he is finishing today we have a big chance for a stage win tomorrow.
4 riders around Bouet as best placed in the group of the day.
They won`t have big chances as the favourites will destroy their advance on the long climb. So we decided to safe some energy for better stages to attack.
Again Sanchez wasn`t able to follow the Astana train with 10km to go.
At least Fuglsang is with him and helps him as much as possible.
Andy Schleck is winning the stage ahead of a bigger group. Obviously every mountain top finish is going to another rider.
Our two riders finished with +2'41 behind them. That`s qutie the advance I expected on the first 3 on every mountain stage before the Tour started. But I didn`t expect that this would be the time back to the first 20 riders.

I am really sorry about all these bad results now. ;( Probably not that nice to read neither.
Really hope that the results in the mountains are better in future.
Also the next flat stage is better hopefully. Might play it later today or tomorrow. |

Don't worry about the results.. Well, it has been a bad race for Garmin in the mountains, but things like this can happen Imo, a story doesn't have to be "win-after-win" and sometimes "bad" results make it even more interesting, because now you will be able to fight back in style

In my opinion, great stories are not linked to good results. Win-and-win stories usually lose motivation to read... I know playing a story where you dont win is hard, but this is an amazing story, and we will celebrate the TdF stage victory as a GC win!!!
Excellent photos... excellent narrative!!!

in another variant you probably could have finished inside the top10 with sanchez but still doesn't ruin the story
A win with Haussler would be great, but I guess Sagan and maybe also Hagen won't be too exhausted due to higher mountain stats, so it will be hard (well, more like extreme ) |

Thanks all.
Totally agree to you that writing a story is more than winning stages and being successful.
But actually I thought to reach more than fighting for the 20th. But you can`t have everything. Vuelta will be better, when the AI teams aren`t that strong.
Also the next small races should be very interesting again.
Poland, Portugal etc. |

What´s about Menchov? He is in 20. Has he decreased or what? Could you show Seeldrayers´stats? He is doing pretty well.
Good luck for the rest of the Tour. Let´s hope Fuglsang, Luisle or Haussler get a few stage wins and maybe the polka dot.

Maybe you now the big guys now have enough time on LLS that he could make it in a breakaway.

Not at home at the moment. So the stats might come tomorrow.
But biggest surprise is LeMevel with the nationality bonus. Hie is 77 or 78 in climbing. Also Seeldreyers and Karpets should have 78 if I remember right.
Menchov decreased as also Evans and S.Sanchez did. He is 77 I think.
Polka dot was a dream, but after Nibali riding solo on two stages he has almost 400pts now and 300 more than Fuglsang. Almost impossible. |

Ok, thanks. Even if Nibali has it I think you should try to get it. As said, good luck

Normally, 200 points should be enough to easily win the jersey, but in this variant, everything is a bit different... |

Wow. This Tour variant seems extremely hard. I wish you some good luck in last stages, at least for some stage win(s). And I have to say - this story is becoming the legend here, I try to read every part of it although I have really small amount of free time in last weeks. Great story roturn!
