Nice
So true, what if the gaps would have been 2 minutes, Lance did what he had to do to stay in contention. |

Just watched the stage.
Honestly I wouldn't put too much into this. Cancellara, Martin and Armstrong gained on this GC wise, not saying Cancellara can do a run at the yellow jersey, but they will quickly lose this time in the mountains again, including Armstrong.

His (Marcs) comments are a little ridiculous though.

Quick random question. What are the components on the bikes on the Mavic neutral support cars? Obviously the wheels are Mavic's, but what about the groupset and frame and what not. |

Cav is hypocritical yes, but Rooijackers seems quite happy with all the attention he's getting from it. |

Not only hypocritical but also massivly patronising.
Although I do agree that Rooijackers is not exactly shying from the attention.

He wouldnt be Cavendish if he didnt allow his ego to begin to inflate as he continues to prove to be the best sprinter in the world |

Regarding the split: Given that the only two non-Columbia GC riders to make the split were Gerdemann (ex-rider for the team) and Armstrong (Hincapie connection), what are the odds that the two were "tipped" of the impending tempo surge?
Cyclingnews hints at it:
Columbia-HTC seemed to find willing allies in Astana, despite the fact that Contador and Andreas Kloden were missing. Lance Armstrong, though, was there, prompting speculation that he might have had prior knowledge of the attack.
Hincapie, who rode by Armstrong’s side for all seven of his Tour wins, was asked that question, and he responded initially with a blank expression, as though weighing his words carefully. “I saw Lance,” he shrugged. “I mean, he was obviously excited [to be in the move] but we were there, just doing our job.
"We had Mick Rogers there," Hincapie continued, "and people were just sitting back [not helping with the chase]. But we saw a moment to attack and we took it."

I'm watching the replay now.
Lance was at the front pretty much the whole time after the race flatened out. It wasnt' like he went up just before Colombia put the pedal down.
Everyone knew the wind was an issue. Lance was waiting for it. He knew he needed the extra seconds and he was up front for a while waiting for it. |

Contador is just going to mountain rape Armstrong and everybody else, even if he must do it alone, as another poster suggested.

I just read an interview with Brian Holm (DS of Columbia). He said that they had an agreement with Saxo Bank saying that those two teams should initiate the 'attack' when the wind changed.
Saxo really screwed up |

Lol, Le Mével said it was Contador himself who caused the split.
he said 'if its correct that there where 29 men in the first groupe, Contador was the 30th and I was the 31th. I saw the gap emerging in front of him, but we couldnt close it.' |

No Dekker? No Bos? Rooijackers it is! Sorry to say buut now you are being a blatant chauvinist.
If you understood the video. Rooijakkers wanted to talk about it with Cavendish the next day (after all Cavendish started the mess himself by pulling a Bos). And Cavendish refused to and hit him on the helmet at the start.
Aside from that his gibberish comment about people who should have respect and keep their hands on the handlebars, while he starts himself with his hand off the bars, is even more funny.
The fact that you don't accept this says enough about you |
