Let's take a look at some of the biggest losers this year. For the first table I filtered by riders who were under contract in the CT or WT in 2018 and who have scored at least 100 prestige points in their careers.

Reichenbach scored 85 points of his 101 points in 2015 in the CT, since then he's been in the WT and failed to score in two out of three seasons. Knees has scored in every season so far, but altogether just 8 points in the last three years. Pizarro on the other hand only left the U23 last year and immediately joined the WT, so it's understandable he only scored 4 points.
Here's the same table with riders who scored at least 500 prestige points in their career:

And now the biggest losers in the overall top 100.

14 riders because I wanted to include Sergio Henao and Van den Broeck, who dropped out of the top 30. Henao's case is surprising, he scored 1080 points this season, 46th in the individual prestige rankings, but he still dropped from 26th to 34th overall. While LL Sanchez scored just 40 prestige points and only dropped by 12 positions in the overall rankings.
Here's the complete top 500 in one table, missing are the 79 riders who have retired or were without a team this season:
Love those stats. Very nice to see Liberty Seguros coming good out of those rankings. It shows that the current phase of transition is well going and that we are ready to hold our top scorers and further invest in talent and established riders. Fernandez with a big jump to previous seasons. Looks like the departure of Intxausti and Verona has freed him up from AI shackles so he finally races to win, evident by his first win bikex mt fuji race.

"It’s a little bit scary when Contador attacks." - Tommy V
I have come up with yet another only marginally useful statistic. The main skills of riders are obviously crucial and the AVG reflects that. But what if you just wanted the most stat points as cheap as possible, that is, find riders who offer a lot of total stat points compared to their AVG rating. Here are my top recommendations:

By coincidence, an Aviva rider comes out top. He comes with 889 total skill points and is only rated AVG 68.9. His nearest competitor with an 889 total is Jaime Garcia with an AVG of 69.9, while Thomas Nybo Riis gets an AVG 73.4 with his 889 total.
Considering you have to pay a minimum wage, some of these riders aren't actually good value-for-money, 100 wage for 797 stat points (Cruz) isn't a bargain - after all, McCluskey is also on the minimum wage and has a much higher total.
At the top of the scale, Boasson Hagen stands out. A total of 983, only one rider has more: Peter Sagan, who has 998, an impressive gap to the rest of the field. But Boasson Hagen "only" has AVG 77.4, all riders bar Sagan rated higher have fewer skill points in total, some considerably less. Here are the worst riders by this calculation:

Richeze is rated AVG 70.1 though he has the same total as Cruz with his AVG 62.6 (797)! Dan Martin is a negative surprise, but his total is pretty low. Teunissen also has 917, but he's only AVG 73.4, Lander and Poljanski also share that total with their AVG 74.4. I also included Bardet, a total of 951 certainly isn't bad, only 34 riders have more. But some have a much lower AVG, for example, Mohoric, De Gendt and Stybar (all 963 for AVG 77.3-77.7), Boom (958/77.0) and Roelandts (957/76.7).
