Tour de France 2009 Stage 10



2 days in the Vosges mountains now. They are not visisted often by the Tour and do not reach a great height but could still alter the general classification significantly.


Today there are 5 climbs.

On the penultimate climb the action began to hot up. Contador and his Astana team set a brutal pace which nobody could better and few could hang on to.

And with 2km of the ascent remaining, Contador attacked.

Everyone felt that there was no point in trying to equal his acceleration so everyone started working at the front, all the contenders combining to catch him.


At the start of the final climb, the cooperation ceased and the pace fell, with Contador just 18 seconds ahead. My team were all tired and could do no more to help, so I attacked!

I was flying and had soon caught and passed Contador.

With the summit looming the fatigue set in and I really began to suffer. But I fought my way over the top and eked out a few more precious seconds on the descent to take my second stage win of the Tour and move within a minute of Cantador on GC.

Team-mate Gilberto Simoni grabbed 3rd.

Tour de France 2009 Stage 11



A hard stage in the Voshes with 6 climbs, including a summit finish and an asscent of the Tours first ever climb: The Ballon d'Alsace.



On the 4th climb Astana upped the pace, alongside Rabobanl.


With 4k left to the KOM, there was a siudden acceleration by Leipheimer and - No way! - Contador was dropped.

We upped the pace, hoping to distabce him, while Leipheimer and Kloden sat on the back of the group, unsurr of what to do.



At the foot of the final climb, I attackled, hoping to get rid of the others that werw with me and increase my GC lead.

However, with 4k to go, the others caught me. I still wanted as much timw as possible and when Andu Schleck attacked, 2km later, I followed.

He beat me to the finish but I took enough time on Contador to take yellow by a large margin.

You write good and the story is good, but I would enjoy it more if he was a little worse and fought for a top 30 or something. But it's your story, your decisions

I'm very sorry but this story is over - while on holiday , at the most exciting time in the story, my sister chose to uninstall pcm and theerefore this is over

I might not for the moment as I have quite a lot on my plate - a few gigs with the band and we're recording our album (just thought i'd plug that while I'm hereWink), doing a lot with my cycling, getting back into pcm monthly and some other stuff
