My laptop finally decided to give up on me yesterday. I'm getting some weird BSOD. Same happens after I format. Safe mode works fine, though.
I demand a full refund |

Wow, I got my computer working again without losing any data at all. Actually, it wouldn't have been any problem if safe mode had worked, but for some reason, it had decided not to work and say: "The system isn't fully installed". So, the only thing I could do would be to format the system which I wasn't too keen on since I would lose lots of pictures, net banking keys, etc.
So, with no boot up possible, what do you do? You get the easiest possible bootable Linux system which can read NTFS partitions - and it worked! I got something called Puppy Linux, and it worked like a charm. Copied all data to my external hard drive, formatted the computer, and it worked again.
So, from now on, I love Linux |

I'm thinking of buying this laptop:
Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Xa 2528-001, 17"" TFT
AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 / 1.9 GHz
RAM 4 GB / 4 GB (max) DDR2 SDRAM - 667 MHz
250 GB - Serial ATA-150
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS DDR2 SDRAM - 256 MB
Price: 7 340,00 SEK = 769,84 EUR
A good price for that, ey?

Bad fact number 1: It's a Fujitsu

Okay Mattias. First i understand that 7000 SEK is around 300 DKK. Secondly, the CPU is an AMD. Im sorry, but Intel is consistently faster on all accounts. Thirdly, the nVidia 8600GS. I dont how much of the 9000-series is on laptops. But the 9000-series has, as far as i know, better DirectX 10 performance. Of course, if you are not buying this so you can play games, dont buy it because you will only need an Asus Eee PC in order to open OpenOffice. You can spend the remaining money on drugs or something then.
Also, its a Fujitsu. The only brand that comes close to the suckiness of Medion

Bad fact number 2: no matter what you do to the laptop, it will still be a Fuijitsu.
Stay away from Fujitsu and Acer laptops, really...
edit: What? Medion is even worse? God, I can't believe I almost bought one.

Let me put it this way. I want to buy the best laptop around 8000 SEK = 6 304 DKK = 843,13 EURO. And that's the best one I found on swedish sites..
Edit: Oh, and I want 17' screen.

Okay okay okay!
What about this then?
HP Pavilion dv7-1010
AMD Athlon X2 QL-60 / 1.9 GHz
RAM 4 GB room for 8
320 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 256 MB
843 EURO
I know that the graphic card is worse on this one...
Edit: haven't found a good one with intel just yet..
