Another extremly good showing by Brajko here, thought it was his daily form earlier, but surely it can't strike on every mountainous/hilly stage?
The fact he missed Pozzo's attack and were the only rider to join the trio laiter makes me extremly happy! Also Anton proving useful aswell, not only riding for a decent GC-spot himself, but the fact he relayed a bit in the big brajko group earlier, while Brajko could regain some power before his power move, is really enjoyable to see.

That's much more like it, bouncing back from the hill stages in style. It was important to take a big chunk out of Ricco but an added bonus to close back in on Madrazo too. With Stage 19 in mind, it's vital that Andy gets at least a minute ahead of Madrazo before then, and that won't be easy.
Kinda unfortunate that Festina in pink means guaranteed breakaway win though.
The battle behind is pretty interesting, with different riders going better on different days. Also good to see that Kirsch followed the moves behind Andy.

Another good stage from Guldhammer, slightly unfortunate that two of those following Schleck were just behind him on GC, as it really tightens up. Brajkovic is super strong, and Cunego is impressive, eventhough his timing hasn't been the best on the previous stages.
It will be interesting to see how big gaps stage 13 can give when we saw such gaps on this stage. I actually this one down as one Guldhammer could potentially win if the favourites raced a bit passive in the mountains with the flat finish, but that was clearly not be, which is good for the race though.
For the GC fight, this really opens up the race. Ricco must have been on a bad day not able to follow at least Guldhammer, which suggests he won't loose that much time on other mountain stages, but on the other this one wasn't the hardest. Obviously both Schleck and Madrazo must fancy their chances, with Schleck having proved the strongest in the mountains this far.
Good to see Aasvold join the breakaway. As the report says, those will most likely fight it out for the stage wins, meaning it's a plus every stage we're there. |

This is really looking like another MG grand tour for record books, Schleck locked in tense battle with Madrazo either rider has landed blows but knockout punch not yet delivered.
Poor stage for Ricco there, he needs to ride a lot better on other mountain stages else even a podium place could be at risk. Lots of exciting battles to come, thanks roturn for these thrilling reports.

Pinot still pushing for the top 10, have to hope Pozzovivo's mini renaissance doesn't last and that Uran continues to struggle in order to pull it off though. Hopefully Vuillermoz, Le Bon and Sisira will be active on the next few stages. |

Kohl climbing really well there, shame Gilbert wasn't strong enough in the break.

It´s a pity Faiers didn´t join the initial break if he tried something later.
Rico starts loosing ground earlier than expected, will be interesting to follow him in upcoming hard mountain test. Hopefully we won´t face something like Landis´ "way to glory" from TdF 2006

Once again Nibali finishes in a group well below his skill level
Now I'm counting on an early stage attack later in the race.

Very entertaining stage, and great work from Warren Barguil to come 5th for us.
And go Cunego! Top 3 might be out the window for him, but 4th could be very attainable

Will have a closer look at the stage/GC later, but for now, it's a solid result for Pozzovivo. Not too strong, but gaining a spot is good. 8th will be the maximum and hard to defend. But at least he ain't sleeping anymore, so maybe he can stay inside the Top-10 with a few more bad/good days happening.
Stage win becomes more unlikely with every day. As said before, Grivko is my only hope. He needs to join breakaways on a consistent base now.

Ulanowski Was to be expected, and to be fair, he's a very weak climber anyways. Shame Randrianambinina also couldn't make the time limit, had some hopes he would...
Again not in the break, come on guys we need to do better...

Majka and Stancu should go in breakaways.
Brambilla also seems to have lost plenty of time to be let in a breakaway.

Nice to see Cunego continue to move up the rankings. Hopefully he can sneak into the Top 3, but that will be tough as I think there are 4 or 5 distinctly stronger riders.
Also I swear I see Zakarin's name in the break every single day, he's gotta be getting tired by now

Phew! Keeping the jersey for another day, even moving to 2nd in the points competiton, while we keep having all our riders still present. Probably due to the shit pace we are able to create. Luckily no strong second tiers have decided to go from gunshot so far.
The next stage looks easier, but I have a feeling that it wont be. I hope we can stay with the Jersey for another stage, before Finally going into the third week, Where we will get worse and worse for each day. So far I am extremely happy, and would love to prolong that happiness for another stage.

Le Bon finishing 4th, Pinot up to 10th on GC and attacking a lot plus all our riders still in the race - and fantastic reporting also. I'm beginning to like il Giro! |

More time on Madrazo, perfect. Next stage is the last stage that Ricco has a likely chance of gaining more of an advantage on Andy, so hopefully it is more like the first hill stage than the next two!
