Wow. Bjarne Riis really believes Carlos Sastre this year.
Cuesta and Vandevelde? They must be on the team for helping Sastre. If CSC want stages victories, should Bjarne haft picked Lars Bak. He´s also in good condition.
And what do Asle Arvesen on the tour team? I prefer Gustov

Sastre is much better than what he did last year. he had to ride an enormous amount of races and went into the Tour unprepared mentally to be the leader.
this year is his big chance. Cuesta is there because he's a decent climber and a good friend of Sastre. Vande Velde is there because he's a good climber in good form.
the team is definitely going mostly for the GC. the trust in Carlos is well deserved, I'd say.

Yes, it is a big opportunity for sastre. But i still think that he will loose too much on the ITT´s |

i definatley agree that Sastre is severley underrated, and think he will manage a podium again this year
i think Valverde will fade in the final week, as you say issoisso, and maybe grab 4th
i'm going for a Vino-Kloden 1-2 as they have shown they're extremley good, and waiting to peak in the Tour
Evans, i dont really like but could get a top 5
so i would say
1. Vino
2. Kloden
3. Sastre
4. Valverde (if he manages to finish this year)
5. Evans (debatable)
KOM - Rasmussen (maybe getting old, but no other names jump out at me)
Points- Freire (a good battle between him and McEwen, and Cav of course)
Best young rider - Contador (ease it by about 5mins)
Team - Astana (no comment needed) |

I love it how you brits always think your countrymen will win everything
I think Paulinho is a great rider and immensely underrated, but you don't see me tooting it about all the time oh wait...I just did

i don't expect him to win, but i've got to hope, the last time a brit won a stage of the Tour was 98 with Chris Boardman, so we don't get to be excited a lot
and now we will have about 5 riders in the Tour, and it is starting in England, so we have a better chance than ever.. the bottom line, we don't expect brits to win, as we aren't used to seeing them win, but we always have hope

given that he's been around so long, has such a great character and is the cyclists' representative at all meetings, I thought this interview with Voigt was very interesting. here's the link:
interview, parts one and two.

i really don't like Boonen, i don't think he is a good enough sprinter, but now he's got a bit worse on the cobbles his sprinting may have got better,
and remembering back to the last TdF, he was absolutley nowhere in every single sprint,
Hushovd could do well but i don't think he is as good a contender as Freire and McEwen, next year might be better for him
and who from Gerolsteiner were you thinking of?

I take back what I said about brits being over-confident
on this note, Sastre will definitely win the sprinters jersey

That's about 500% more likely to happen actually |

We Brits crave disappointment - it's a national trait. Just look at our expectations for every single sporting event - we want them and expect them to win, which means we get our lovely disappointment when we lose atrociously.
We're a small, moderately decent island nation, who still believes we are as great as when we owned one third (1/3) of the world

Marchante is out with some illness apparently. he was Saunier's GC man. now they'll go for stages with Mayo, Ventoso, etc.
his replacement is Cañada.

Millar won a few stages at Le Tour remember? He won the 2000 prologue and a road stage in 2002 and 2003, of which only the 2003 win was stripped due to doping.

After what I saw in the Dauphine i don't think Vino stands a chance in winning, now seriously he never managed to finish decently in a high mountain stage, Valverde had some problems and that's why he didn't do anything but he can win the tour. About Sastre, he is not that good at TT and his time passed away. Boonen and Hushovd don't seem good sprinters anymore as they used to be, so i think that the green jersey will be won by Freire. The KOTM will be won by Rasmusen(don't have anyone else in mind). The best young rider will be certainly Contador. About Rogers i don't think he can finish in top 5 and Menchow could be happy if he gets there.
1. Valverde
2. Kloden(if he will be the leader)
3. Sastre
4. Evans
5. Menchow |

Ok lets take it once again.Dauphine doesn't mean anything. Forget it.Vino can win any highest mountain stage..(last year Vuelta). Valverde has even more pressure on TdF then Vino ( he never finished one). Sastre is specialy prepeared for TdF for the GC..this year he isn't Basso leutinant in Giro ,TdF.
Freire is good choice..yes Boonen is big question mark this year. But we cant forget Milram train (is there Petacchi or not). My hint is wach out Lampre sprint power (they don't have Cunego on the list...and they gonna sprint hard )
About Contodor you are right. Rogers:just checked T-Mobile start list-not bad at all. And we have nice long TT-s. for Roger's.
Rasmussen- all signs are showed that he will be in sceary form on TdF.
Don't want predict the winner...without scandals we will see one of the funniest TdF's. |

yeah no offense but you must not know much when it comes to season tactics. Vino wasn't even trying in the dauphine...he was stretchin his legs gettin ready for le tour. Vino will without a doubt be the team leader when it comes down to london. Sastre will be CSC's leader and shall do good with the support of Schleck, Evans will top 5 but i dont see him on the podium, he usually just sticks onto the wheels and is bound to get dropped eventually. Menchov will do well but in the long mountain stages could lose some time to vino...Depending on if Vino attacks like his character likes too or if he rides conventionally will decide how Kloden does...If he has to bury himself into the ground carryin Vino up the mountains to catch riders then he wont do that well, (Vino n Kloden have an agreement to work for eachother, this year klodens workin for vino n next year vino is workin for kloden...) Levi will do good as long as he doesnt have a bad day, one bad day n he will be out for the tour (remember last year when he had to make up like 14 minutes |

I think it's a moot point. Kashechkin will bury himself working for both and will take quite some time to fade. once Kash is burnt out, they should be near the finish and by then it's every man for himself.
after a few stages, the leader will be whoever is in front. anyway, Vino won't attack as soon as usual. he can't. he's the big favorite and isn't dumb enough to do that in the position he is in.
