And regarding that other discussion about cycling becoming boring:
I doubt that top teams care about WT points because they can sign riders to get points. The points system might have an impact on the behavior of the riders but what is wrong with trying to achieve the best possible result? Only a stupid person would throw away his chances for 20 secs of broadcast exclusivity during the attack.
If you really want to blame somebody, then blame ASO for making this race longer and more exhausting.
Of course he denies clipping his pedal. It's a beginners failure.
Maybe he just kicked too hard while leaning inwards, another beginners failure.
But there surely was no oil on the road.
(This discussion leads me to another mystery. Why is the quality of some HD videos so bad? Do they upscale from 480p to 720p just to get that "HD" sign?)
Another beginners failure is to have hands up the bars (on the brake levers or what you call those in English) instead of down the bars, which was theoretically the best position to have at that moment (tight corner + reaching a flat part + getting ready to sprint). He'd have had a better balance.

So when they dope and ride in a more exciting way, it's being blasted for cheating.
And when they don't dope (allegedly) and play more carefully, because no one has the resources go full retard, it's being blasted for boring.
Seems to be a popular attitude recently....
IMHO cycling is simply a sport of tactics rather than excitement. Just like snooker. From time to time something exciting happens, but other than that it's just a few hours of positioning, pace control, calculation and sightseeing. If you don't enjoy that kind of sport, how come are you a cycling fan?

The problem is the WT points, teams would rather finish 5th then try something to get a podium or a win, so everyone with a remote chance of a top 10 needs to wait until the last climb. Don't risk WT points by attacking early seems to be the current rule.
I have to admit I do not follow WT points and UCI licensing that closely, since in the end it's always a matter of money. Can someone explain me shortly what is this about?
Calm down I just sayed cycling has changed. I have been hard core cycling fans about 10 years despite all that grap around it.
Still cycling has changed..every rider can atack few times max. to burn himself out..not as old days...absurd. These days you need to have a brain to play your card put at correct moment. Most races will be decided inside final few km. If weather dont mix. cards.
Still bothers me how Sky boys dominated 2013 season after cycling has changed..absurd.
Another issue UCI. This system realy sucks--Nibali told that raiders avoid any atack..to just collect max. UCI points as possible after line. This system is wrong and killing cycling.

The original broadcast is HD, but it's ripped from a webstream so it is limited to the bitrate at which the uploader played it at.
First, Dan Martin could not have hit the pen if there was one. I did my best to analyze the video a bit.
And finally, here is the final image of Martin before the camera moves away.
Both these photos are extremely blurry and it's hard to draw anything conclusive. But if you want to drag frame by frame on the YT video to see if anything stands out feel free to share it here.
Edit: And if I understood Aquarius correctly, I think he did indeed have his hands up the bars?

Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!
He didnt hit anything on the ground. His pedal looks to be off the ground. I think he was leaning too close to the ground and took the turn too sharply and that resulted in him sliding outwards.

I guess nobody complained when Sagan win while sucking other's wheel, because he can wheelie at the finish line and everybody forgets how he won.
Care to elaborate? Because Sagan is one of these that usually try to rip the race apart with attacks or high tempo. Also i am not aware he has ever won LBL...
No way Martin hit anything, he tried to pedal through the corner at the wrong angle which pushed the bike out from under him (I have done this myself )As mentioned above if he had been riding in the drops instead of being on the hoods he would of had more control of the bike and might have stayed upright. The situation got the better of him and he made a simple mistake

Well I didn't mean to make a personal rant or sound offensive - your comment was simply the best conclusion of the discussion I could find and wanted to make a point about this.
And the point was that cleaner cycling will be more tactical. It doesn;t have to mean it is boring - you may find it such, but it is possible to enjoy it. You just have to understand what's going on. Same as with football - there will be fans cheering goals only and fans cheering a difficult, neat play even if it does nothing to change the score.

Don't get me wrong mate, but I am a pro Sagan. I was just joking. No pun intended. He won't be able to win any Ardenne classics because he's not punchy enough. Well, I might be wrong.
