Partly, I also like Everton and I've been doing some research on English teams and read somewhere that Everton is one of the most liked teams all over the country. So I didn't want to choose a team that had a big chance of having a lot of my viewers hating it Pfft

Next update won't be tonight after all. I'm working on Forgotten Treasure for Writer's Block right now. I'll probably race tomorrow, though Smile

I'd just like to say that, eventhough i haven't been commenting as regularly as id've liked to, this could be the best story you've ever written, as much as i loved Norwegian Wood and as nice it would have been to be around for A Tale of Two or Double Feature. Wink

Yeah, didn't read your previous stories either (new member and such...), but you definitely have to keep this one going. It's an amazing one-rider story, which basically got everything the genre has to offer, executed in a fabolous way, that is a joy to read. Cool

The Hobbit
I read your old stories before I joined.

Also I understand your working on Writer's Block, I guess two great ideas at the same time is very time consuming...

Wow, thanks guys, really means a lot to me. Comparing the comments (which I really shouldn't do) to other stories here made me think there was something wrong here, so your comments really help me there Wink

Dippofix - I'm trying to go for my record here, too, which is something in the 100 pages Wink

Shonak - Really glad you like the story! One-rider stories is the thing I do best and it's great to be appreciated within the genre. Hope to keep you amused! I should be grateful you're around now, for commenting so much and keeping up motivation!

The Hobbit - It takes some time, but luckily I have some experience in story writing so I can make reports rather quickly. Pfft Writer's Block takes a lot more time, but I'm managing, so far Wink

The Night of the Camembert - Part V
The next morning I was still really happy about winning the Premier League. After my stunning display at Everton, I accepted a contract at Bayern München for the 2016 season. Time to run the best club in the world!

When I came downstairs, my sister had already left for work, having the early shift. The house was empty, good, her boyfriend wasn't here today. During breakfast, the phone rang.

"Hello, this is Henry".
I heard someone scream in my ear. Something about being in prison and about honor and whatever. I didn't feel like doing this so I put the phone down and let the guy rant all he wants. Ten minutes later I picked up the phone again, he was still on, not screaming anymore, though. Suddenly I recognize it's my father.

"Hey, daddy, what's up?"
"You've got some explaining to do, young man. I just got an interesting call from our lawyer."
"Oh, yeah, that," I said, "Well, it all started in Camembert..."

United States of America

Hi everyone!

I'm in America now, the United States to be more specific. We've got the Tour of California coming up and I'm real excited for this one. So far the trip has been really nice. I did some minor sightseeing and the breakfast here are great in the hotel. The weather is great and warm, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm racing the first stage tomorrow, I have no idea what it'll bring. Among my objectives here are a top 10 in the GC, which I should be able to manage, I hope, and a nice performance on the Queen stage.

Uhm... They did win the Champions League and the WC for clubs in real life, also took the triple last season. Pfft
Not a fan of Bayern, I can tell Grin

The Night of the Camembert - Part VI
So I told my dad what happened, that I was out of jail by 10 pm. They finally listened and understood it was all a mistake. By then I was already 2 hours late for my date. I hoped she's still be there. But the police station was far away from Place Clemenceau, and I couldn't take another cab with no money...

I asked the police officer with the big belt if he could take me there.
"Are you kidding me?"
I quickly explained the situation to him, that I had a woman waiting.

Three minutes later they threw me out of the police department. I had no idea where the hell I was, in some small hick town, was my best guess...

Tour of California - Part I
There are only 2 stages left in the Tour of California right now. Sorry for not reporting sooner, but I had some troubles with jetlag, so I needed my sleep! Here's a quick overview of what's been happening here:

The Races
In the first stage, a breakaway made it to the line, holding 10 minutes on a lazy, hot peloton. It was a strange day.

In stage 2, the final 5 kilometers were uphill. I tried following an attack by Gilbert. I couldn't quite keep up with his pace but I moved up to an 11th place anyhow, getting me in the Young Jersey.

imageshack.us/a/img198/691/8e1o.jpg

imageshack.us/a/img716/1046/ybzi.jpg

After three flat stages, it was time for the time trial. Another test of this discipline for me. I haven't been telling you this, but I've been practising a lot on the time trial bike! Time to put it to the test.

imageshack.us/a/img194/7691/izg2.jpg

I took a real slow start, but I had a plan. I decided to put all my efforts on the final climb, you could easily lose or gain minutes there. So I rode on save-energy for the first part.

imageshack.us/a/img543/7088/qqef.jpg

Danielson caught me, which was sort of embarrasing. But I still kept to my plan and kept my current pace.

imageshack.us/a/img22/5205/5ygg.jpg

And my plan worked! On the climb, he dropped his pace immensely, I overtook him again. In the end, by some miracle, I finished 9th. In a time trial!!!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
Only two of the original breakaway of stage 1 remain at the top standings. I think they'll crack on tomorrow's stage. I hope to jump to a top 5, but it won't be easy!

See you then,
Henry

Dippofix
Where did those names come from? Never heard of Travis Bickle, Evan Oliphant seems like something from the Lord of the Rings and Weimar Roldan sounds like a Game of Thrones character. Pfft
And ofcourse a nice time trial there, hopefully he can secure his top 10 placing. Smile

Ian Butler
Dippofix - Oliphant and Roldan are real cyclists Pfft I added Travis Bickle to the game as American TT talent. Google the name and you'll see where I got it from. Hint in the spoiler Pfft

Spoiler
You talking to me?

Dippofix
Seriously? They're real? Pfft
And now i get Bickle, though you have to admit it was a bit before my time. Wink

Ian Butler
Dippofix - Yeah, very real Pfft Taxi Driver was before your time, I admit. But it's a classic, you should see it one day, great movie Smile

The Night of the Camembert - Part VI
I really needed to go to the bathroom at that time - why didn't I go in the can? I had all the time there. No, I really needed to get to Place Clemenceau. I couldn't count on the cops, I knew that. Oh, how could I forget, I had my cell phone with me!

RING - RING
"Come on, answer!"

"Hello, this is Warren."
"Warren, my dear, good, friend."
There was a silence for a few seconds.
"Henry, what do you need now...?"

Tour of California - Part II
imageshack.us/a/img819/4374/xbuq.jpg
The Queen stage. A top 5 would be amazing. Tomorrow is a flat final stage so the GC will be finished tonight!

The Race
Meintjes did good to get in the breakaway. He's really improving a lot and turning into a strong climber.

imageshack.us/a/img713/143/k118.jpg

And then Mount Diablo came. I admit I had the Young Jersey on my mind, so I kept both my eyes on Moser and let others ride. When he took some distance with a small group, I sprinted to their wheel.

imageshack.us/a/img819/1592/mi4v.jpg

Then I set the pace, to avoid more attacks. Meanwhile, Moreno overtook the General Classification by winning on Mount Diablo!

imageshack.us/a/img849/2865/5x55.jpg

I was able to put in a strong last effort in the final 600 meters, getting some distance between me and the rest of the group. I finished 5th here, an amazing result!

imageshack.us/a/img11/2607/vmo6.jpg

All in all it's been a good Tour. I did my utmost best and finish quite high up. Though I keep thinking I could've done better if I had raced a little more aggressively.

The final flat stage was won by Kristoff.

I managed a 7th place and get the Young Jersey as an extra reward. I'm quite happy, but also looking forward returning home.

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
It's been a good race here. America is very different from Europe to race in, but there was a great atmosphere. I really want to return here one day and battle for the overall victory. For now, I'm looking forward to the next race, probably Tour du Sud. And that'll be in preparation to the National Championships!

Until then,
Henry

You don't know Evan Oliphant?
Although an Oliphaunt is what the Hobbits call the Haradrim Mumakil in The Lord of the Rings, probably one of the reasons I like Evan Oliphant. Their basically giant elephants, with 4 tusks.
The only difference is the U.

Sorry, found something LotR related so I had to comment!

WTH is Gilbert doing up there?

Anyway, a good result

You can tell he can manage more. He's just waiting for a time to really show everyone.
Maybe at the NC's?

Nice showing at Tour of California. Not quite in the big form we have come to know Henry but reaching and maintaing 100% is tough and only natural. Young rider jersey and 7th place is great.

I accepted a contract at Bayern München for the 2016 season. Time to run the best club in the world!

Clearly Henry has the same brillant taste in football as he does in women. World dominantion! Banana

Henry rode a Great race in America and should be well pleased with the overall outcome Smile

Well done, very good result for Henry.. that must have been a joke by Jamis, right? the weakest squad for California.. Frown
