Stage three of this year's Tour of Utah is the first big GC stage. However, it shouldn't be too selective, as the climb tops out with 35 km to go. I hope to take over the yellow jersey today.
The Race
A six man group got away after around 50 km. It consisted of: Wren of Jamis, Gaimon of Bissell, Nishizono of Champion, Davila of Jelly Belly, Voigt of Radioshack, and Creed of Optum.
Lawson Craddock opened up the attacks on the big climb, launching a move with 15 km still to climb. He got away and wouldn't be seen again for a while.
Three km later, Van Niekrek started riding like a madman, splitting off all others except for Schleck.
The other riders quickly recacted, and a group of 12 formed, they trailed the break by 2 minutes. Craddock is in the middle at 1 30 ahead of the GC group.
Over the rest of the climb, there were no attacks. At the summit, the break has been swept up, and there are 17 riders at the front.
With 20 km to go, the other teams won't work with us, and so I told Van Rensburg to attack. He was let go by the others, and would fly away, never to be seen again.
A great win for Van Rensburg! He also takes over the yellow jersey, as he finished exactly two minutes ahead of the 32 man group that fights for second place.
Jens Voigt finishes second, and his teammate Gallopin takes third. I finish 7th.

Post Race Comments- Great win for Rensburg! He should be able to keep that GC lead until stage 5, where hopefully, the jersey will be passed over to me. I also currently lead the points classifications and the U25. Maybe I could take a clean sweep! Not probably won't happen. Tomorrow's stage is a short circuit, that shouldn't go to a GC candidate.

Today's stage is a 55 km circuit race in Salt Lake City. The hill should be a launch pad for attacks, and the winner should be solo, or come out of a small group. I hope to avoid losing time today.
The Race
Four riders attack during the first lap. They were: Jens Voigt of the shack, De Maar of UnitedHealthCare, Van der Velde of Jelly Belly, and Gazvoda of Champion
System.
With 15 km to go, the escapees have 2 minutes to the peloton, and they should fight for the stage win.
10 km to go, and a group of 11 was split off from the main field. All the GC guys are in the group, but race leader Van Rensburg has missed the split.
1 km to go, and Jens Voigt has ridden away from the other escapees, but De Maar is only 10 seconds back. Can the German finish one place better than yesterday?
He certainly can, as the German takes his first win of the season! De Maar takes second, Van der Velde rounds out the podium.
I lead the 11 man group in for fifth place ahead of Frank and Voss.

He definitely has
The fifth stage of the Tour of Utah is the biggest GC day, finishing with a summit finish at Snowbird. This is the day that I to go get the win and attack. I hope to get the win today.
The Race
It took around 60 km, but Van der Velde of Jelly Belly, McCartney Of Bissell, Gazvoda of Champion System, Anderson of Optum got away and formed the day’s breakaway.
About 5 km into the first cat 1 climb, the bunch split, and two Cannodale riders got away along with me and two of my teammates, and Deignan from UnitedHealthCare.
Everything quickly came back together along with the breakaway. With 1 km to go, I told Rensburg to go in an attempt to get a smaller group at the front at the base of Snowbird.
The move worked, but not like I thought it would. I ended up doing a solo descent and I found myself with 30 seconds at the base of Snowbird.
After a flurry attacks behind me, Acevedo bridged up to me around 10 km to go. We had around 30 seconds to the 18 man select bunch.
Behind me and the Colombian, a 9 man group has formed with: Frank and Nerz (BMC), Danielson and Dennis (Garmin), Schleck (Radioshack), Deignen and Dombrowski (UnitedHealthCare), Caruso (Cannondale), and Voss (NetApp).
With 5 km to go, it is still just Acevedo and I at the front. Behind, Frank and Caruso have left the others.
Three km to go and I look back and I see Acevedo stuggling! I step on the gas and fly away from the Colombian!
How about that! A 45 km solo win for me! I sure didn't see this coming when I told Rensburg to increase the pace!
A big thanks to this man today, Van Rensburg sacrificed his GC lead to put me in a great position in the descent of the first big climb. He is still in the top 5, and I will pay him back someday.

Post Race Comments- I think that I will remember this win longer than my first one. This is the kind of ride you dream of as a young rider. A long solo to put yourself in a great place to win a big race. As an American, this was a big race growing up, and I'm super happy to take this win. I realize this isn't a GT, but still I'm a neo-pro who is in his first leadership role. I am definitely happy with my ride today. Tomorrow is a hard hilly day. I hope to defend my 2 minute lead.
See You Then- Ian

Ian Butler: Thanks
duxili: It is very likely that he will win all four classifications. The only climb on the last stage is in the last 20 km, so he should score enough points to clinch KOM on it.
I don't have the time to play PCM tonight, and I definitely won't tomorrow. Friday, I have a big football game against our rivals for the district championship. So, the last stage will be up Saturday Afternoon for you Europeans

The final stage of the Tour of Utah is a hilly stage that I would call mountainous. It has one big cat 1 climb, that tops out with 9 km to go. I have no stage ambitions, I just will defend my GC lead.
The Race
Two riders formed the day's escape. They were Ottoman of Champion System, and Diaz of 5 Hour Energy.
As soon as the bunch hit the big climb, Acevedo attacked and brought Santaromita with him. I decided to let him go, since he is 6 min down in the GC.
With 8 km still to climb, Acevedo and the Italian have caught up to the breakaway. Frank Schleck leads the 15 man bunch 2 minutes behind.
With 1 km to climb, Acevedo has dropped Santaromita, and is 2 minutes ahead of the GC group. It looks like the Colombian will take the stage win. Behind, there have been no further attacks.
Janier Acevedo takes a brilliant win on the final stage of the Tour of Utah! Great solo ride today from the Colombian!
I lead the next group in for second place ahead of Caruso. Van Rensburg takes foruth, Dombrowski fifth.

Team Rankings Winner
Post Race Comments- This is a huge day for me, after seizing the leader's jersey yesterday, I easily defended it and I take the GC win. Not only do I take the GC win, I take all the other jerseys, and MTN takes home the Team Classification. I couldn't have done this without my team, and I give a big thanks to them. My next race is the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, where I hope to take home another yellow jersey.
