baia - Hope so, too! I guess it can live on another day
sutty68 - Yeah. Will have to replace it soon
MrUfo87 - I'm not risking anything right now so I'm taking a back-up of my save game every time I quit the game!
Daggen - That's right
Thanks, guys!
So far my computer is hanging on. I erased some data and had some sort of virus removed. So we're carrying on! Today I'll bring some reports from the Giro, probably! |

The Giro has begun. Tyler Farrar had the best possible preparation with a win in GP Frankfurt right before the start.
After the first week and the very first mountain stage, this is the
General Classification
1 | Vincenzo Nibali | Astana Pro Team | 36h09'28 | 2 | Jan Bakelants | Radioshack Leopard | + 7'36 | 3 | Rigoberto Uran | Sky Pro Cycling | + 8'46 | 4 | Maxim Iglinskiy | Astana Pro Team | + 9'50 | 5 | Wout Poels | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 11'41 | 6 | Roman Kreuziger | Team Saxo-Tinkoff | + 12'06 | 7 | Greg Van Avermaet | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 12'19 | 8 | Beñat Intxausti | Movistar Team | + 12'20 | 9 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | + 12'54 | 10 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Sharp | + 13'13 |
Greg is in a good position due to an excellent first week. In no less than 5 stages did he finish top 5, both flat and hilly stages.
I'll be keeping you posted on any more developments!
This I like, all my talent together. Beaufort, Steenacker and Butler are all here.
Stage 1 looked ready made for Rik. Tough underway, but a flat finish.
Vincent (Beaufort) showed his main strength and pulled the peloton for no less than 80 kilometers straight. He brought back a 5 man break all by himself.
Unfortunately he got caught up in a crash a little later.
Then it was time to set up Rik for the sprint and, hopefully, his 4th professional victory!
And without hesitation, he did it! Great sprint finish. Surprisingly Tom (Butler) took the second place.
Result
1 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | 4h45'42 | 2 | Tom Butler | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Bartosz Huzarski | Team NetApp - Endura | s.t. | 4 | Davide Rebellin | CCC Polkowice | s.t. | 5 | Dennis Van Niekerk | MTN-Qhubeka | s.t. | 6 | Leopold König | Team NetApp - Endura | s.t. | 7 | Serguei Klimov | RusVelo | s.t. | 8 | Darwin Atapuma | Colombia | s.t. | 9 | Martin Elmiger | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 10 | Kris Boeckmans | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. |
Stage 2 was an uphill finish, too tough for the likes of Rik. It turned out into a win for Colombia!
Result
1 | Juan Pablo Suarez | Colombia | 5h06'11 | 2 | Davide Rebellin | CCC Polkowice | + 14 | 3 | Darwin Atapuma | Colombia | + 28 | 4 | Matej Mugerli | Adria Mobil | + 38 | 5 | José Mendes | Team NetApp - Endura | s.t. | 6 | Matteo Di Serafino | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 7 | Jonathan Fumeaux | IAM Cycling | + 55 | 8 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | + 1'12 | 9 | Christopher Butler | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 10 | Dennis Van Niekerk | MTN-Qhubeka | + 1'37 | 11 | Tom Butler | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 1'50 | 12 | Alexander Mironov | RusVelo | + 2'07 | 13 | Bartosz Huzarski | Team NetApp - Endura | s.t. | 14 | Leopold König | Team NetApp - Endura | + 2'17 | 15 | Bob Jungels | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 16 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 2'29 |
Tom finished 11th but wasn't the first Butler. No relation.
Classification after Stage 2
1 | Davide Rebellin | CCC Polkowice | 9h51'55 | 2 | Darwin Atapuma | Colombia | + 18 | 3 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | + 1'10 | 4 | Christopher Butler | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Dennis Van Niekerk | MTN-Qhubeka | + 1'35 | 6 | Tom Butler | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 1'36 | 7 | Matteo Di Serafino | Androni Giocattoli | + 1'55 | 8 | Bartosz Huzarski | Team NetApp - Endura | + 1'57 | 9 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 2'07 | 10 | Jonathan Fumeaux | IAM Cycling | + 2'12 |
I have a feeling Tom is finally finding his place in the professional peloton. Let's hope the mountain stage in a few days brings him some luck and a good opportunity!
Life goes on, ain't that the truth, like?
Anyway, with the expectation of being Pro Conti next season, we've started our contracts campaign. We've renewed the contracts of several riders, including Tom Butler, Rik Steenacker, Bob Jungels and Tom Van Asbroeck. Unfortunately some riders stated they'll be leaving, to stay in the World Tour, including Greg and Tyler.
But we've been especially busy in the youth department. In two weeks, we signed four new names for the next season.
Jozef Davidts - Winner of the Tour de Flandres Espoires. He's said to be a puncher and a classic rider. Type à la Gilbert.
Laurens Stook - Winner of Liège - Bastogne - Liège Espoires. Another decent puncher with a bright future ahead of him.
Thomas Thibaut - Not a multi-winner, but a strong rider. He'll be of great value in the Pro Continental Tour.
Harry Leslie - Pleasing our American sponsor, we signed this 20-year old Time Trial machine. 191 cm and 80 kg, he's a powerhouse. |

Shame that the team will be losing Tyler and Greg

Another two stages over and done with, and our youngsters are making a name for themselves!
IMPORTANT NEWS: due to financial problems, Firenze won't host the World Championships. Instead, the Worlds of 2013 will take place in California, in a race almost exactly like the following race! So it was a nice recon race for some guys.
Profile, also for the WC 2013
Beaufort pulling the pack again
And in the end, Rik finished off an easy sprint after having the perfect lead-out. The competition is not fierce, but he's doing it like a pro! My boy Tom just follows his slipstreams and finishes another 2nd place.
Result
1 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | 4h05'35 | 2 | Tom Butler | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Davide Rebellin | CCC Polkowice | s.t. | 4 | Bartlomiej Matysiak | CCC Polkowice | s.t. | 5 | Bartosz Huzarski | Team NetApp - Endura | s.t. | 6 | Darwin Atapuma | Colombia | s.t. | 7 | Kevyn Ista | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 8 | Kris Boeckmans | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 9 | Martijn Verschoor | Team Novo Nordisk | s.t. | 10 | Leopold König | Team NetApp - Endura | s.t. |
The next stage was also perfect for the sprinters.
The breakaway held out until the finish. Rik with another surprisingly strong final sprint, catching the entire breakaway except one man, the winner.
Result
1 | Christophe Premont | Crelan - Euphony | 3h07'07 | 2 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Bruno Langlois | Equipe Garneau - Québecor | s.t. | 4 | Reinier Honig | Crelan - Euphony | s.t. | 5 | Tom Butler | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 6 | Kevyn Ista | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 7 | Davide Rebellin | CCC Polkowice | s.t. | 8 | Martin Elmiger | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 9 | Guillaume Van Keirsbulck | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 10 | Darwin Atapuma | Colombia | s.t. |
Provisional Classification
1 | Davide Rebellin | CCC Polkowice | 17h04'29 | 2 | Darwin Atapuma | Colombia | + 26 | 3 | Marc De Maar | UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team | + 1'18 | 4 | Christopher Butler | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 5 | Tom Butler | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 1'32 | 6 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 1'43 | 7 | Matteo Di Serafino | Androni Giocattoli | + 2'03 | 8 | Bartosz Huzarski | Team NetApp - Endura | + 2'05 | 9 | Jonathan Fumeaux | IAM Cycling | + 2'20 | 10 | Leopold König | Team NetApp - Endura | + 2'23 |
These results are so great, we're all floating. Of course, this tour lacks a strong field, but it's great to win nevertheless. Winning (and being 2nd) on this year's WC profile might also help in the selection of Rik and Tom for the Belgian squad! Vincent has worked so hard, it will get noticed, too. My dream would come through if I saw the three of them in the WC together!
See you later!

Tom Butler.
He's my favorite rider by far.

sutty68 - I think California loves him, too
baia - Oh, so you're the father?
547984 - Yeah? Good thing he got a contract for next year then
wogsrus - Indeed, thanks!!
welker3257 - They are our future. Especially with a ProConti relegation coming up! We'll need those youngsters to get back to WT.
Thanks for the support! I was in the middle of a race yesterday but something came up. I'll try to do it this evening! (no time during the day, sorry) |

Hi everyone!
Two more stages have been raced here in California. I'm really enjoying my time here, and so is the entire team. Just this morning Vincent came up to me and told me how happy he was to race here.
Stage 5 was destined for the sprinters! That didn't stop Vincent Beaufort from going into the attack, though.
He gave everything he had. When the peloton caught him, he was out of breath. Crossing the finish line, we had to give him oxygen for half an hour.
And then, much to my anger and my happiness. An improvised finale, set up by Rik himself. Instead of sprinting for the win, he wanted to thank Kris for his lead-outs by leading him out himself today!
And what better way to thank someone than this? Amazing 1 - 2 for the team here! We leave nothing for the competition in the sprinting business here!

Stage 6 was a 36 km Time Trial. And the worst possible thing happened: Tom Butler, the boy who dislikes time trial bikes, lost more than 3 minutes, dropping down majorly on the GC.

Well, with one more mountain stage and one more flat stage, it looks like an exciting Tour. Tom ruined his chances at a great general classification, though. Rik continues to prove great form. Bob can finish high up here, having decent climbing skills!
See you for the mountain stage!
