10 points in retardedness for Ulissi. He is becoming an increasingly annoying asset for us.
Had my blood boiling for a while, but in the end Fothen might end up as the winning part here for not really putting in an effort, but I was about to wave my fist Homer-style there.

Well, you did complain about him not attacking
Good for Heineken and Milka. Worrying for Puma though. |

True. But it would have been nice if he would attack to get into the breakaway group then - He would probably have been 2nd at the line (if not able to win) in a breakaway like this. I don't know if it's because he is among the stage favorites that he waits untill it's no longer realistic to win or what his problem is, but he is so very very often mistiming his jumps, or like today fucking up big time.

Very nice effort by Sinkeldam. Too bad he couldn't take the stage win.
Also, I wonder what's happening now in Koenigsegg bus right now since Anza helped Trofimov's rivals not lose time today.

Safe stuff from Spilak, not much more to say, really.
It's a bit disappointing that we haven't really figured in a single attack for a breakaway. Though, it's quite okay as long as Spilak stays safe
The next three stages could very well decide this Giro, hopefully Spilak is up for it. |

I think Diego would welcome the change of lifestyle and gain some knowledge about eastern Europe. Ukraine has nice country side, you know.
Congrats to Heineken, pretty strange time gap system, some riders should be very happy. And Go Konig, he is doing great for Milka.

What a nice stage for my team! König is having a fantastic Giro so far, amazingly he is even better than Henao in overall and more importantly has KOM jersey as well, but more points will be needed to gain to keep him right through Udine. Henao was a little bit lucky here, but in the end, everything's good. Hopefully my team keeps to be this agressive.

Though Phinney's lead is looking increasingly hard to knock down, I remain confident that Madrazo has the strength to do it. As long as he takes a chunk of time back on every remaining mountain stage, it should be fine. He could well gain close to a minute in the MTT alone, I think.
Very disturbing that my riders missed the opportunity on stage 14. Considering how obvious it was beforehand that it was going to be a breakaway stage, we really should've had a rider in the group. Anyway, congrats Levi!

Not a bad result for me, but now I need to start making up large amounts of time.

Next mountain stages are promising as small gaps already opened up on one climb. But Phinney looks very strong, would be an awesome success for him.

Slightly worrying that Fothen couldn't stay with the Phinney group there, although this stage wasn't too much of a problem. It's not good to allow Ricco to claim this amount of time though. The bonus seconds is always going to be in his favour, so he shouldn't be allowed to gap Fothen. Also Nibali moving a bit forward here is not that good, although expected that I'm not going to catch him. Henao is so far still fairly far behind Fothen and really shouldn't be a threat, but if he is climbing this well, and Fothen not then he could be a dangerous competitor.
This stage was not the best suited for Fothen though so I hope he will show his strength on that Mountain TT, and the final mountainstages, so 5th can be secured.

A disappointing day in the end.
C'est Le Vie though, from what I can see it could have easily been Sella in the position of Henao. We tested Phinney and the favourites and they passed the tests. Could well be that the GC situation is static, in which case this will be a desperately disappointing Giro for SRB.
Phinney is looking pretty convincing, Madrazo surely now set to nail his runner up spot in the MTT.

Very good, Spilak! Closing in on that podium, which would be amazing.
Nice to see Augustyn mentioned as well, hopefully he can just keep on riding this tempo, or even go on the attack in a mountain stage. It would be brilliant if he gets inside that top 15, though, it should be hard to keep Kohl and probably a breakaway rider behind
Thanks for another great mountain report, SN! You certainly kept the tension! Congratulations to Roman, eventhough Henao hasn't been quite at his best so far, that was a pretty win. |

Another strong ride from Phinney and good work from the team on the lower slopes to thwart the early attacks which threatened to shred the race to pieces. Still 3 massive challenges ahead for Phinney. The strength of Heano's attack seems to indicate Madrazo could pull out minutes on either the Gavia or the Zoncolan if he is aggressive.

Damn it, almost had the stage win! Pleased to see Possoni outclimbing the likes of Riblon and Kennaugh, who should normally be on par if not better. Nationality bonus ftw. 6th is a great result, and Caruso also hung on better than expected.
Obviously disappointing from Madrazo not to take more time on Phinney, but I guess the climb just wasn't hard enough. Great win for Henao, on the other hand.
Still a lot of work to do for him in the overall, though. Same goes for Sella, who really didn't convince on today's climb. Lucky not to lose more than he did given the gaps that could've been given. Really not looking good for him at the moment.

Big thanks! What a great win by him! This Giro is becoming quite a lot of succesfull for my team, even I probably won't have a rider in a top 10 overall. Too bad König lost a quite lot of time, but hopefully he will attack once again in a next stage.
