Actually 3 wins in a row and a perfect start into the season for Coquard. He is really looking promising.
France having some nice young sprinters at the moment with Demare, Bouhanni and now also Coquard, maybe Soupe, Jules as well. |

Soupe has had only one decent result in his entire carreer, and that is the 3rd place in that Giro stage. Massively overrated. The others you mention, though, can bring a lot of French victories in coming years.
And I'm very happy for Coquard!

And Petit. I'm not sure about Soupe and Jules, but Petit has potential. |

Jules's a bit older, I'd say he's got less potential, and he doesn't get to show up at the highest level.
Bouhanni can climb to some extent, he's a bit less of a sheer sprinter. With age he's more likely to turn into a classic rider.
Petit has relatively disappointed so far (I know he's only had a season as pro and a couple of races), I'm curious to see how he'll evolve.
I'm longing to see Coquard against some real sprinters, and to see Démare there as well. |

Who are you guys thinking will do well in Qatar? Besides the obvious trio of Cavendish, Degenkolb and Boasson Hagen, most others are second-rate sprinters such as Sabatini, Blythe, Cantwell etc. I'm hoping IAM have a good race. Don't know why, but I just really like their team. Also interested in seeing if Appollonio can do anything, if he gets a chance on a stage not looking after Hutarovich.

Not sure if Cavendish will win a lot of stages there. For some reason I've the feeling he'll disappoint at Qatar, but bounce back later in the season, adjusting to the new life at OPQS and all. (Though I hope he proves me wrong)
Would love to see Degenkolb confirm his Vuelta-talent! |

I don't think Cavendish is particularly well-built for Qatar compared to someone like EBH, who should be able to cope with the wind much better. Also Cavendish will be hoping to peak later in the season, whereas EBH will surely be aiming for the classics. I'd also be looking for someone like Van Avermaet or Phinney, who both have good kicks, even if they aren't necessarily pure sprinters. Both are also a bit tougher than Cavendish.
EDIT: No that I think Cavendish can't deal with the wind at all (he has won in Qatar before of course), but there are better-suited riders, particularly for GC.

Kenny de Haes wins the Trofe Palma. Lotto Belisol is very strong so far this season.
Farrar, Swift, Petacchi and Ventoso behind him.
Meanwhile in Qatar some nice windy action. Degenkolb looking very strong so far. My bet for today. But still they have to catch Rast/Bookwalter/Elmiger, who might even do it today.

Bookwalter wins as the break of 3 just holds on. Great effort by them. Elmiger (IAM) takes 2nd

A non sprinter wins in Qatar? Mother of god. The wind was decisive for the break to hang on, and Bookwalter might surprise but well see how the next stage's go. |
