Pearl Izumi Tour Series Round 9 – Colchester (11/06/14)

Team:
Ryan Mullen
Jonathan Bellis
Robert Partridge
Thomas Faiers
Matty Locke

After a number of attempts a 3 man breakway, including Ryan Mullen got away. To everyones surprise there was no real chase and it stayed away.
Max Jenkins (5- hour energy) took the stage. Ryan Mullen tried to drop the other two in the last couple of kilometres but they held on and the sprint of the 5 hour energy rider helped him over the line.
5 hour energy took the team prize too.

Last race of the season.

Team:
Jonathan Bellis
Robert Partridge
Thomas Faiers

A bunch sprint for the last race of the season. Although the presence of the cobbles in the final kilometres made the sprint more interesting. Jonathan Bellis was able to power away in the last kilometre to take the stage and the last race of the season.

Individual: Jonathan Bellis (YDS).

This means that with two wins takes the overall individual award.

To finish the season off:

01/07 – TDS 40th on CQ rating, Briggs in 17th.
04/07 – Felix English (IRE) signed by YDS
04/07 - Kenichi Sakakibara (JPN) signed by YDS
06/07 – Tao Geoghan-Hart (GBR) signed by YDS.
07/07 – Michael Vink (NZL) signed by YDS.
07/07 – Joshua Atkins (NZL) signed by YDS.
07/07 - Yamato Shirota (JPN) signed by YDS.
08/07 – Adam Yates (GBR) signed by YDS.
01/08 – YDS 40th in CQ rankings, Briggs in 21st.
01/09 – YDS 42nd in CQ rankings, Briggs in 24th.
01/10 – YDS 43rd in CQ rankings, Briggs in 24th.

YDS don't reach the required points for Pro-continental status. Although to be honest they wouldn't have been able to apply if they did as the two linked Yorkshire teams in a Worldtour race might has caused some whining from other teams.

Highlights for April:

07/04/14 – Paris Roubaix. Phinney crashed out. Langeveld finshed 8th. Turgot sat on his wheel and didn’t race.
Verdict: We should have done better with the team we had. But with Phinney crashing and the rest of the team not good enough. Team needs strengthening for next year.

29/04/14 – Ian Bibby feels ill just after the tour of romandie. Will he make the Giro? Langeveld or Phinney as cover. Thibaut Pinot finishes 2nd at Romandie. Losing time to Quintana in the mountains as the team buckles around him and he ends up isolated.

01/05/14 – British Airways 5th on UCI worldtour rankings with 398 points. The Sprint team have 110+61+4= 175 pts. Cobblestone team have 76+20+10= 106 pts. Grand tour team have 131+10+6=147 pts. Thibaut Pinot top rider with 131 pts in 15th place. Means we have now hit our points target and should be staying up.

01/05/14 – Target rider. If he becomes available Daniel Martin. But likely to be riders from the development squad. Murray, Tennant and Williams will be leaving. Unless Tennant changes his mind.

I like this story because of different style, but you can at least insert 1 photo per report, that would make it much better.

Thanks, glad you're liking it. I will add more photos in the future. Sadly, I've already completed the Giro and the Tour but will get more photos after that, as will be redoing the Vuleta and Tour of Britain. There seemed to be a bug and all the best riders didn't show up.
