whoo, a football manager forumB)
i've been adicted to football manager (and champ manager before that) for about 15 years.
i recently decided to start a mega career with about 20 leagues running and i'm just going to keep going as long as i can.
started off unemployed before i got the job at Jena in the German second division. They were shit and i got sacked at christmas after i applied for the job at Cadiz. Got the job but only lasted 10 games with a record of played 10 won 5 drew 4 lost 1 and they sacked me!!!
Anyway, on to my third team in still my first season. i got the job at piacenza in serie b. after a dodgy 12 months in my 2nd full sason i took them up despite having no money to spend and an average attendence of 3500. The fans loved me and i got offered a new contract. The next two seasons we finished comfortably mid table in seria a but the board were reluctant to offer me a new contract for some reason so when olympiacos offered me their job i jumped at the chance. I've been their about a month and already won the greek cup . Just about to start my 6th season in 2012. bring it on!!! |

I did that aswell but after a while the loading became really slow so I now have 2 games with the biggest competitions activated and in 1 game I have some more Nordic league and the 2nd one some more Eastern European leagues (+Portugal) I also started unemployed and in 1 game I manage Ligue 2 team Guingamp and in another one FC UTA Arad from Romania. I took UTA to the UC because I won in the Intertoto but Bolton just beat me 1-0 thanks to Diouf who found it necessary to hit the ground while he wasnt being touched:cry:

I had the same problem as you Justin when I tried a 'supersized' game, but that was on my last computer. Yet to try it on my newer one, but I'll be starting a new file after my exams are over in a couple of weeks, so maybe I'll try a big game again like ringo.

2011-2012 I believe, especially in the transferperiod it took ages

For me, it started to slow down all the time after two seasons, but it was always slow during transfer period
Then again I only had 512Mb of RAM, so that might of been a slight hinderance! |

well I still have to experience that I won with Guingamp in the Coupe de la France and now I have to play against AS Magenta, a team that comes from New Caledonia

Happened several times in my best ever fm file when playing fm2007. I started out as Real Betis, and turned them into triple champions league winners in 6 seasons, taking 6 league wins in a row, before taking over as Czech Republic Boss full time. One season later they had lost all their good players, replaced them with duffers and finished 7th in La Liga. The season after that they were relegated.
After the Czech Republic won Euro 2012, I left to take the Aston Villa job. The Czech Republic failed to get to WC 2014. Won the Uefa cup, League and Champions League after 2 seasons with Villa, before I took over as Brazil boss. Villa were never the same again - they sold all the players I bought and are now perenial mid table finishers |

I had some good careers on FM08, the best ended just a month ago due to a stupid board that ruined my save.
It started in the lowest league in ENgland, with Southport. I got promoted the first 2 seasons but then just managed to stay up in the last round after beating the top team!
I was stranded in league 2 until 2013/14 season when I suddenly outclassed every team and finished unbeaten. The season after that I got promoted again to Chmapionship. The first season i got relegated but managed to get up again by 2019/20 season. And in 2021/22 I won the championship and as newcomers I looked forward to the challenge. I finsihed in a surprise 7th place the next season, and managet to get some good regens. But in the season 2023/24 they expected me to win the damn thing and also quarter final in UEFA cup, (I won the FA cup). I finished 3rd that season after Stoke and Liverpool and went to the semis in UEFA cup. My regen got the award "striker of the year" in europe and I won the FA cup and the semis in Carling Cup. Despite this they fired me, with 3 years still to go on my contract, after all that i've done for them.
The only good thing was that every player and staffmember wanted to leave after that, so they lost almost all players |

And I thought my careers were long! I've never been past 2016 - it becomes all too random for me! |

The longest career ive ever played was with FCK using CM01/02. Played 9 seasons, won the danish Superliga 6 years in a row and reached the Champions League group play on 3 occasions and a UEFA cup semi-final. It took me 2 real-life years to get that far. Of course by the time i realized i was 3 years behind the curve when it came to football manager games, i went out a purchased Total Club Manager 2004 (yes, what a smart buy ), but i actually played it until i got FM07.

Only played two seasons with Leeds Utd. (got them back to the Premiership, whereas the real team relegated to League One , and reached a tenth place in year 2). Got interesting transfers and enjoyed quite much. |

My longest career has been 2 seasons on a couple of occasions. (Man City/Leeds/York City/Kettering)
I got York promoted both seasons due to my brilliance of buying some Israeli with 19 finishing He was only about 10,000 because he was from Israel, top scored both seasons as well.
I got Kettering promoted both seasons because I had Leicster as a parent club and managed to loan Andy King, Eric Odhiambo, Alan Sheehan and Levi Porter. Odhiambo top scored both seasons.
I got Man City into Europe in the second season after finishing top half the season before.
I got Leeds promoted in the first season and then only managed a top half finish in the Championsip

My longest career has been for 7 season.. 3,5 with tottenham with several uefa cup wins, fa cup wins, carling cup wins.. CL quarter final but to PL-title
Then I moved to FC Barcelona and won everything 3 seasons in a row.. It became way too easy and therefore I deleted the career ..
FC barcelona became the richest club in the game and in just 2 season I used more that 200 millon £ on transfer.. Bought Rooney and Ronaldo for a total of 160 millon £ in barcelona.. Bought half for the tottenham squad too hehe
But it became too easy .. I've had other long careers with Manchester United for 4 seasons, Levski Sofia (5 seasons), Saint Etienne 3 seasons.. I really love Football Manager |
