Bad luck ? They put the maximal pressure and even a little more in the tires, to increase its output. That didn't puncture Martin's tire, but that increased the probability of such a thing happening.
You know that they don´t put 10+ bars on the tires as some years ago? Even 9 bars are unusual nowadays, so now way Martin had a too high tire pressure.

So much for the marginal gains team. Although maybe that's what they have to do to avoid him to beat Wiggins again.

Someone mentioned Engoulvent for a good result here, finished outside the top-100. |

Wow almost forgot about the tour today what with EURO, bank accounts and job applications.. thanks to my little sister of all people for reminding me.
I was tipping Gerraint Thomas for the win today only to unhelpfully find out he wasn't even here. My sister correctly chose Cancellara as winner (since when did she even know the difference between a climber and a sprinter..?)
So... Wiggo looked undeniably promising, disappointed with Sanchez, happy just to see Valverde back, Menchov looked (worryingly) good, Martin was unlucky (but he will have later chances to impress) and for a small-ish lad Chavanel rode his heart out.
See you all tommorow |

I did wonder why some were thinking he could do well. Clearly they were miles out!

If Wiggins doesnt have a lot of bad luck, he is going to crush them all.
I can see a Podium like this:
1. Wiggins
2. Menchov + 2:00
3. Evans + 3:00 |

This prediction is just a little bit too drastic, don't you think? He is not that much better... (if he's better) |

You can't always know in cycling, it's a hard sport to predict.
I still think Engoulvent is a pretty decent prologue-rider.
Though clearly, he didn't show any of that yesterday. |

Yeah. They should have the Grand Départ in Luxembourg one day, then Engoulvent would surely make the top 5.
