At saturday,a 15 years old guy ran out first half-marathon in his life . It really looks more like hilly cycling stage. 21km running -> 15 kms in climbing , 3 in downhilling and rest in flat. But i'm so proud of myself that i finished it (at the end i was as Cancellara in Roubaix 2013) . |

So you won the half-marathon in a sprint?
But finishing a 21km race is great for a 15 year old, I(also 15)wouldn't be able to do that!

Lol,i thought i was tired as Cancellara (i know you was joking, this was just to notice). I cant remember on what place i finished (prolly 25-30 from 100+ racers). Anyway,i find it great, since top places was taken only and only by cross country and biathlon skiers. (if i rode more bike and played less pcm,i would be able to get top10).
Also, guys who was at top10 wasnt younger than 20,so i feel great now. Thanks Jesleyh!

So, how much was your time ?
I thought you couldn't run (IAAF rules) a semi-marathon before joining the junior ranks (the year when you turn 17).
I raced for the first time in more than one month last Saturday, achieving the hilly 14,4 km through paths and all in 58'05" (4'02 per km), in a cold windy weather. Not so bad, given I had to stop for 5 seconds or so to put my laces in my shoe (a double knot wasn't enough obviously). The big hill on the circuit was too much for me, 9 % or more and I totally struggle when hitting it at a high pace. During warm up it went very fine. |

I can't remember,it was something like 2hours but i had to stop to give help and call emergency for some guy that hallucinated or dehydrated. That took me about 10 minutes, but i am happy with final result.

Well then, seems like I am injured again... For Good...
3rd time since octobre... This has just been a horrible, horrible season. Due to niggles and pains, I missed out on a PB in the 200, had to let my team down in the 4x100 and missed the whole indoor season. More on that later!
This time it seems like I have a Osteitis Pubis, which, If left to heal by itself can take up to 12 months and longer to recover. Not gonna let that happen! Im not gonna miss another Varsity competition with an injury! Ill make a doctors (dis)appointment Tommorow! Hopefully, I can get the right Meds, or whatever treatment he advises!
Anyway, this year has just been rotten for me, starting in Octobre. If you dont believe me, read on!
Spoiler Octobre: High Ankle sprain (Out for 2-3 Weeks)! I was training on the track, but some idiots doing fun running in lane one wouldnt listen to me shouting track as loud as I could. They just crossed right across the track, eventhough, we explained them the track code! So I jumped out of the lane to avoid hitting anybody, with my right food landing on a very weird ankle. Sprained anKle! Kept me out from any kind of training! my weight program requires me to do heavy lifting while standing etc., couldnt do core and obviously no running. The ankle spain also had an impact later on...
January: Calf Problem (2 weeks)! The high Ankle sprain from octobre caused my ankle to weaken, and with my "clumsy" approach to running after my comback, my ankle didnt strengthen well & fast enough, making a calf injury inevitable. It happened right in the build u to the indoor season. I missed all of the races. First because of the injury directly and after that a lack of form, combined with a very short season (a shame cause Ireland just got an European Athletics standard Indoor Track!). So, back to the drawing board, strengthening my ankles to prevent injuries...
April: Niggles with the calf (1 hour or 2)! Nothing that coudnt have been prevented... I warmed up for the 200m and just before my race, they decided to delay the start, making the athletes cool down. Needless to say, my muscles tightened a little and my ankle was still in the build up, so you know what that means... (To quote Desai Williams: "A fast muscle is a long, relaxed Muscle!") Twas a real shame, since I was in PB shape and instead had a shit race. Right afterwards I got someone working on the calf, and that loosened it up again, so i could jump on the next day! I still had to pull out of the 4x100 relay team, which had to replace me with a mid-distance runner and missed out on the final by .08 seconds... (I subsequently put the blame on me. Afterall, I let the team down, since we would have qualified. The lads had to replace a bend runner, and that is my strength!)
May: Hip Flexor Strain/Osteitis Pubis (Indefinite for now)! I went to training in preparation to the Dublin Graded series, where I planned to compete in the 1,2,400m and the TJ (The 4 just to see if I could improve my PB a bit. Afterall I was in shape). But during that training session, I injured myself with what me and my coach suspected to be a 1st degree hip flexor strain. Upon advice from my coach, I went home and iced the hip flexor region regularly. As per instruction, I started stretching after the most excrutiating pain (never really bad). It all got better but on saturday/sunday i got an ache around the pubic bone, which isnt that bad, but it hints that it is more than a hip flexor strain, because of which I already sat out the first graded meet (100m & TJ) and with the new pain, I scrapped the plan of attempting to race the 200 next week. Just fantastic! If this injury is what i think it is, I might as well be lucky, if I can start training again in late July/early August...
God I dearly hope its "just" a Osteitis pubis and not a hernia (I have an extreme fear of hospitals, if I have to stay there for a night, or more. Comparable to some peoples fear of Dentists, like my father)...

Well, apparently I'm not the only one with constant injuries. I've also had the pubic/hip/adductor tendinitis since last February. It seemed to be gone but it's still present and worsening after every time I run.
Pain killers (anti inflammatory) do the trick for competitions for now, but it's a Damocles sword upon my head.
You're still relatively young, you can still afford to rest, recuperate and rebuild. If it's not caused by a mechanical cause it should heal by itself with ice, much drinking (of water ), stretching and rest. |

Well, ill have to get conformation on my diagnose first... could very well be that its a mere adductor or hip flexor strain that will only need a bit longer to recover... im just a little impatient, cause i was in really good shape beford this injury, and with examtime being in full swing, id like to have something to balance out the anger amd frustration... i cant even do weight lifting or core, since it requires me to do a lot of standing lifts like hanging clean and squats etc... all i can do is sit around and i dont like that

Been struggling with injuries myself for some time. I've gone to the lenghts of using a "knee support" and avoiding all downhills whatsoever.

I'm wondering wether or not to make it a goal for me this season to see how far I can actually run. The longest run I've had was 27km and I didn't really feel it. Of course, I was a tired, but nothing special.
I have no plans of doing a marathon anytime soon, I'd rather focus on 5000 and 10 000m now, but it would be fun to know.

I'm a runner as well, I mainly run 1500m to 5000m and I run about 4 times a week. (16 years old btw)
Records:
800m: 2.11
1500m: 4.28
3000m: 9.49
5000m: 16.42 |

Your 5000m is really good, you should focus on that (if you like it )

Actually your two best performances there are the 800 and the 5000 m, which is a bit odd (given it's the two extremes on the four performances you've indicated).
Your max aerobic speed is 20 km/h, which is very good for 16 years old (it means your VO2 max is around 70).
Your 1500 is better than your 3000, so I'd say you should rather focus on that, especially given that your endurance is not so good but that betters when you age).

I'd say 5000m under 17 minutes equals 800m under 2.08

yeah I'm quite happy with my 800 and 1500 atm, but since I'm terrible slow at a 100m (not under 14s yet ) I think the 5000 will ultimately be my best distance

I have the same problem, I'm able to run 600m under 1.42, but my 100m PB is 13.97.
I desperately want to run a 400m

It seems like I'm finally rid of my knee injuries. I altered the route I normally have to avoid all major downhills aswell as started using a "knee support".
I've always been plagued by injuries, but last year I got some good training for the beginning of march to ealry august which gave me 21.52 on the 6000m and 36.54 on the 10 000m.
Now it just seems hopeless, having wasted my good form over the winter due to injuries and lack of motivation (because of injuries!). I haven't done any test runs yet so I don't know how bad I am, but it doesn't feel quite as rubbish as I though I would be.
If I can just stave of the injuries I'd be very happy and if I can get some solid training for a long periode of time I think I could get some decent times.
Especially considering the fact that only 5 moths of somewhat unstructured training gave me those times on 6000 and 10 000.

Best to concentrate on the longer distance, then. It's also better for injuries, sprinters have way more injuries |
