Good luck for the cobbled race
I hope to see Bole and Bozic in the mix at the end

Thanks Sutty and 27incher, your comments are very motivational Wink

Tro Bro report will be up very soon, I've already done the race.

Tro - Bro Léon Report

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0004-59.jpg
An original breakaway of 13 riders was brought back extremely quickly as AG2R, Europcar and Landbouwkrediet weren't too keen on letting any group get too far ahead.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0005-53.jpg
In the end, though, they let a smaller group get free. This group had six riders in it and as you'd expect, none of them were particularly fond of the cobbles, but give them credit for trying.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0006-61.jpg
As the race started to speed up, Stybar and Martin Velits started to take some turns on the front. Here, Stybar piles on the pressure over the cobbles alongside Turgot. A huge split in the peloton was the result.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0007-57.jpg
As the peloton got the breakaway within sight, Caleb Fairly gave it one last go, and looked very strong indeed. He quickly pulled out a minute on his rivals. The pace was extremely high now though.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0008-48.jpg
With 10km to go, race favourite De Waele knew he had to go for it because he has no sprint. He got a good thirty seconds ahead, but it was never going to be enough, and was caught along with Fairly.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0009-41.jpg
Into the final 5km, our leadout was looking very strong with Grivko followed by Huta ahead of Bozic and then Bole. At the front, Goddaert tries a last ditch attack despite being a decent sprinter. Was that a good move?

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0010-33.jpg
In short, yes. Despite the other sprinters closing him down quickly, he just held on. Bole left his sprint too late and got second, his favourite position, again. Another AG2R rider, Casper took third, whilst, oddly, Hutarovich beat Bozic, despite sitting up with 2km to go. Sixth and eighth for those two. Great result again.

Team Summary
Another great result for the team, if not slightly frustrating. Bole won the bunch sprint, but left it JUST too late to beat the late attacker, Goddaert. Hutarovich and Bozic are fantastic sprinters in their own right, and held on for top tens after leading out Grega. All of the team did their role brilliantly, even Szeghalmi, who is not too happy on this terrain. A short break now, before some racing in Denmark and Germany, and then the Tour de Romandie.

The first of the three Ardennes classics, the Amstel Gold Race takes place from Maastricht - Valkenburg in the Netherlands. It is the biggest cycle race in the country and, of course, all of the best punchers in the world want to do well here. There was absolutely no surprise who won here, infact, I bet you guessed correctly as soon as you saw the logo! However, honourable mentions to Chavanel, Pineau and Fuglsang, who all picked up fantastic, unexpected results.

The minor places seem to be your forte at the moment
At least you got three riders in the top, I didn't expect Hutarovich to be there

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/la_fleche_wallonne.jpg

The second of the Ardennes classics, La Fleche Wallonne is the first in Belgium, and, comfortably the shortest of the three at 200km. However, the tough finish on the Mur de Huy means it is definitely not easy. Belgian hero Gilbert finished a miserable (by his standards anyway!) 12th place here, whilst Joaquim Rodriguez took the honours. Again, mentions for Dekker and Veikkanen, superb results for those two. And what can you say about Jens Voigt? 40 years of age and a top five in La Fleche Wallonne. Incredible.

Our next two races are in Denmark, the GP Herning and the Himmerland Rundt. With the Giro starting here in a matter of days time, it gives us a chance to recon the route for the opening three stages aswell as trying to win these races of course. These are pure sprinter's races with just under 200km of pan flat roads. Our joint leaders are Bozic and Hutarovich and we will work for whichever one feels the best on the day. The startlist is, as you'd expect pretty weak, but there will be lots of competition from GreenEdge and Saxo Bank.

GP Herning Report

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0003-54.jpg
The BotD contained eleven riders but despite the size of the group, the danger was minimal as the best rider was Baer (Atlas). Not a great amount of talent on show! They had built up a 6:30 gap with 90km to go.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0004-60.jpg
It was up to us and GreenEdge to bring the group back, but with the front group being so weak, the pace didn't need to be too high, and we could bring it back with just two riders, Szeghalmi and Velits.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0005-54.jpg
However, with 40km to go, an attack by Morkov and Podlaski caused the pace to ramp up to 50km/h as several teams came to the front. As you'd expect, the duo were back in the bunch not long after.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0006-62.jpg
With 15km to go, and the sprinter's teams just starting to position themselves, Svein Tuft attacked. Of course, GreenEdge stopped chasing and was up to us to bring him back. The original breakaway were swallowed up not long after.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0007-58.jpg
Our leadout was struggling, especially when Gazvoda had to come out of the line because he was cooked. Chuzhda was now leading Hutarovich and Bozic with 3km to go. Tuft was still 45 seconds up the road.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0008-49.jpg
And, would you believe it, just like Tro Bro, the late attacker held on by a very small margin. The Canadian champion just beat Bozic, with Reihs, Franzoi and Hutarovich rounding out the top five. This is getting a bit repetitive now.

Team Summary
Another second place despite doing everything we could and winning the bunch sprint. Late attackers seem to be our problem at the moment, but we won't be shedding any tears. These are only small, preparation races and we will try again tomorrow at the Himmerland Rundt.

The fourth monument of the season, Liege-Bastogne-Liege brings the spring classics campaign to a close. A legendary Belgian race, with lots of kilometres and lots of climbing. Gilbert was back to his best here to make it two out of three ahead of Rodriguez and Barredo. A very strange top ten though with the likes of Monfort, Brajkovic and Nieve getting right up there.

Himmerland Rundt Report

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0003-55.jpg
Ten riders went away early here and just like yesterday, the strongest rider was Baer (Atlas).

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0004-61.jpg
Two more riders swelled the group to twelve, but despite the numbers, they didn't seem to want to commit to the break and they only pulled out six minutes in 80km.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0005-55.jpg
This meant it was easy for us to control it and we were enjoying the Danish Spring sun whilst the boys slowly brought the gap down.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0006-63.jpg
Two of the local teams, Glud & Marstrand and Concordia then decided to launch an attack and these two quickly rode across the gap and lifted the pace in the breakaway enough to cause us to have to lift the tempo.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0007-59.jpg
But with 30km still to go, it was all over as the final four riders were caught by the peloton. Naturally, the pace then slowed but, astonishingly, nobody had a go. Perfect for us.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0008-50.jpg
Into the final kilometres and Bozic's view was a wall of white and red as the team got their leadout perfect. Yesterday's disaster was forgotten as each rider took their turn and moved over. Surely, it had to be?

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0009-42.jpg
And it is! Borut unleashed a powerful kick in the final kilometre to beat fellow Slovenian Kump, who we are certainly looking at for the future. Matysiak took third, with Hutarovich holding on for a top ten.

Team Summary
That's what we came to Denmark for, a good win for the team. Everybody was superb in the leadout and Borut finished it off against, admittedly, a weak peloton, but you can only beat what's put in front of you. Hopefully, Borut will get the chance to reverse the roles soon and give Yauheni the chance of victory. Maybe even tomorrow, as we move to Germany for one more one day race before the Tour de Romandie.

Our final race before the Tour de Romandie is the Rund um Koln in Cologne, Germany. This race is over 200km long and is a lot more hilly than the two Danish races. However, with the run in being completely flat, it should finish in a sprint. Again, Bozic and Hutarovich lead the team, and whilst we would like Hutarovich to have a chance at the win, the hills may take too much out of him. The startlist is, again, quite weak, but the German teams, NetApp and NSP, as well as the only WorldTour team present, Saxo Bank, will give us a run for our money.

Rund um Koln Report

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0003-56.jpg
An early break formed over the first climb and, despite it being completely non threatening, the peloton weren't happy and brought it back.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0004-62.jpg
After a while, a breakaway did eventually succeed, and it contained 11 riders. The best of them was Baugnies (NetApp), here on the front, as well as decent sprinter Gnezda (Adria).

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0005-56.jpg
Today, we had absolutely no support, and were doing all of the chasing ourselves. It was a huge shift for the likes of Sagan, Der and Mihaylov, but they did their jobs magnificently.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0006-64.jpg
With 50km still to go, four riders decided to go for a long one. Two of the riders were from CCC, Rutkiewicz and Kiendys. They made it across to the BotD, but the peloton were not far behind and the desperate attacks were already starting.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0007-60.jpg
With the peloton all back together at 20km to go, two more riders had a go. This time it was Mugerli (Adria) and Staf Scheirlinckx (Accent) who chanced their arm. Mugerli was back in the peloton soon after but Scheirlinckx is a very strong rider and ploughed on by himself.

i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd369/brewers90/PCM0008-51.jpg
A much reduced leadout gave Bozic a lot of work to do himself. But, he overtook Scheirlinckx in the final kilometre and took a second victory in two days and a third podium in three. Great stuff from the Slovenian.

Team Summary
Well, this has been a successful few days for the team. Of course, with such a weak starting field, we were hoping it would be, but it's still always difficult to get to the line first and Scheirlinckx nearly thwarted us again. Huta with the great leadout again for Borut, who had to go early but was untouchable, whilst Yauheni held on for another top ten. Next up is our first ever WorldTour race, the Tour de Romandie in Switzerland. We couldn't be more excited for tomorrow's prologue, where we hope for a decent performance from the team.

Skoda - Orlen Professional Cycling Team start a new chapter in their story now, as we arrive in Western Switzerland for our first WorldTour race. The Tour de Romandie has six stages, of which none are really mountainous. A short prologue and a longer hilly time trial are included as well as a hilly stage with a summit finish, two hilly stages with flat finishes and one flat stage, albeit one with plenty of climbing. Only one previous winner takes to the start, 2008 winner Andreas Kloden of Radioshack will be trying to win again. Our very own Simon Spilak won this race two years ago, but our leader here is Peter Velits, who has no real chance of winning, but he aims to build fitness for the Giro next week. Bole is here for any sprints but he could struggle slightly against the likes of Cavendish, Farrar, Greipel, Petacchi and Boasson Hagen! The rest of the team will be domestiques/breakaway men. After being a big team in small races for a while, it will be nice to be an underdog again. Breakaways will be the order of the day for us here.

@sutty, I'm certainly hoping the form lasts til the Giro starts next week. It would be nice to win a GT sprint, but not too confident!

Great result in the Rund om Koln, and I'm sure Velits should be able to do something in Romandie too!

Thanks for commenting Casper Smile

His fitness isn't great at the moment so he won't be challenging for victory, but we hope for a top ten, definitely. Let's wait and see, the prologue should be up later and hopefully stage 2 aswell.
