Great sprint from Valverde and especially Simon Gerrans. Great to see Simon back in form. Smile

Gutierrez talking about Valverde:

“In a one-on-one sprint, Alejandro would beat Gerrans, as he would beat Petacchi, Freire, Boonen etc. Probably the only one he wouldn’t beat is Cavendish."

More important, he says they won't try to win the GC in the final stage.

Tom Boonen, Sylvain Chavanel, Francesco Chicchi, Bert Grabsch, Levi Leipheimer, Frantisek Rabon.

This is a pretty good squad for San Luis. Probably Chicchi might be their main sprinter that early in the season.

Interesting...

Some great highlights, though. Real racing in January? Can't complain about that.

Wait till Tour San Luis for that Pfft The first MTF is coming soon.

Valverde crying in the interview was nice to see, showed how much that meant to him.

Phil and Paul were hilarious at times, calling TdU a GT at one point : " Nathan Hass going for his first GT victory" ( or soemthing like that ) Pfft

After Paul pointed out a Lion of Flanders flag by the side of the road, Phils response "I would say they are immigrants"

Yeah, loved all of that. They make weird errors, but I still like them.

And the millions of times they went on about "look at these vineyards, its like we're in France"
They do know, Vineyards aren't just in France?

Yep, 14th. I'm telling you, this will be Danny's season. Look at some of the names he beat, after murdering himself throughout the week. You say I have no evidence, well here it is. This is only the beginning.

14 Danny Pate (USA) Sky Procycling 0:00:55
19 Alessandro Ballan (Ita) BMC 0:01:50
30 Luis Leon Sanchez (Spa) Rabobank 0:02:35
37 Oscar Freire (Spa) Katusha 0:03:31
39 Ryder Hesjedal (Can) Garmin-Barracuda s.t.

OH NO, the troll's back!

By that logic, that means that Rohan Dennis is also a better climber than Hesjedal then!

Let's finish this now. Please.

He's from the same place as Pate, and as far as trolls go he's not a particularly good one.

Ignore him.

Also, Moreno worked his ass off the whole week and is 8th overall. MORENO IS GOD. ALL HAIL MORENO.

Meanwhile, Ivan Gutierrez is a MUCH better troll:

“We’re not a sprinters’ team,” said the Spaniard. “In a one-on-one sprint, Alejandro would beat Gerrans, as he would beat Petacchi, Freire, Boonen etc. Probably the only one he wouldn’t beat is Cavendish

Now all we need is Ruben to be here, and things would be perfect.

But that's not what I'm saying. All I'm saying is that it was an impressive feat, but not unexpected. People here seem to underestimate Danny, and I'm just trying to stick up for him. I don't know why you call that trolling while everyone else is attacking Danny just to get me worked up.

And don't make excuses. What you saw in stage 5 was undeniably impressive, no matter what time of year or what race.

I deny it was impressive, he went off the front on the flat, was shut down easily by Gutierrez, despite Gutierrez being completely spent having worked on the front for the last 20km, who dragged two others with him, Machado and Denis, neither of whom are top quality climbers, they then dawdled along a little, while the peloton decided who would have to chase, Pate not doing much.
When they hit the climb, Gutierrez, the man who pulled back Pate gave up and was passed, then Pate cracked, dropped by two not very good climbers. Following this embarrassment, Madrazo? reaches Pate, who hangs in for a bit as they get reeled in by the peloton, where he gets immediately dropped, being comfortably out climber by noted riders such as Ciolek and Matthews.

Where was he impressive again?

Uh, no. Youve got that the wrong way around.

You are the one who brought up Pate, and expressed your mental fan-love of him with very bad arguments. Perhaps he is better than his results show, but by nowhere near the extent that you claim. Everybody else is just trying to make you see more sense.

I noticed a couple of times you posted along the lines of "Stop the Pate Hate", but if you werent initiating it all with your ridiculous claims, there would be no Pate Hate at all!

So the end result is, youre just being somewhat annoying, and so everyone starts to hate Pate, even if they had no real opinion of him beforehand.

And if you are just trolling (which I seem to remember you admitting to last time, before then denying it), then you're simply making an idiot of yourself, so if thats what you want, feel free to continue.

Dennis and Machado are definately not the best climbers in the world, but they definately aren't slouches.

This was impressive because Tiago Machado is a good climber, who was fresh from not having to work throughout the race, like Danny did. And as i was saying earlier, if Danny hadn't been forced to murder himself throughout the course of the week, he would definitely have been able to hold on to the leaders, because even after doing all of that work, he still managed to lose less than a minute to Alejandro Valverde on a fairly decent climb. Just imagine if he were fresh.

alexkr00
If Pate would be as good as you say he wouldn't have to work for others. Then he would be fresh and perform at his true value. But he isn't.
