Australia, Belgium, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and USA have 5 for the Road Race
Denmark and France have 4
3 for Belarus, Brazil, Iran, Colombia, Ireland, Morocco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey and Venezuela
Various others have only 2 or 1
Some nations also qualified for 2 riders for the time trial. Australia, Denmark, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Switzerland.
Remember that in the Olympics, those riding the time trial have to be taken from those also riding the road race.
Only 4 for us ? That's a disgrace. According to CQ ranking, we'd be the 4th strongest nation. Of course with the PT points system, we're lower, but 4 riders instead of 5 is just non-sense.
Plus do they really have to announce it that early, can't they wait for a couple of weeks/months prior to the event to announce it, according to the then currently running season ?
What a load of crap...
I agree about too early announcement and speaking about disgrace, Slovakia will have only one rider there, while 3 for Belarus, Brazil, Morocco, Poland, Venezuela....Are you fucking kidding me? Incredibly dull system

So Cycling Australia might force Bobridge and porte to ride Road race?

Actually taking Poland there into this list might be unfair as they have a lot of riders that might actually finish races unlike other countries which will be lapped and will quit after a few laps..
Even though they haven't really a chance of winning a medal, their last medal in the World Championships was from 2000 in Plouay from Spruch who was 2nd behind Vainsteins
But mostly they are used in their teams as a helper like Szymd so just why I think taking Poland into these countries might be unfair, they can easily put up 3 riders who could finish

Jack Bobridge for Olympic TT gold! Wiggins 2nd, Jean-Christophe Peraud 3rd! Thoughts?
Bobridge not going to do the Team Pursuit on the Track?
He can't do both?
No.
Team Pursuit starts the day after the Time Trial. Both events ideally need a focused preperation. You cant give everything in the time trial, then the very next day, go onto the track and still be able to give your best.
For Britain, Wiggins has chosen the road, Thomas the track. Bobridge would be mad if he chose anything other than the track really. He is unlikely to medal on the road, while the Team Pursuit is a likely head to head for Gold between GB and Australia.

That'a a shame, but you are right that Jackie Bob should definitely choose track. Richie Porte and Cameron Meyer/Michael Rogers/Cadel Evans should be able to do fairly well in the TT. I say Richie and Cameron since the others will be useless in the road race if what I have heard about the route is true.

You are right about Poland (they shouldn't be on my list), but still their three riders have lesser chance on good finish then Sagan with at least one water-carrier (and that is what i dont like the most - one rider without teammates is lost and predetermined to fail in such a one day race. Slovakia should boycott the race and bring some homeless from the street there ).
This is as stupid as bringing some bushmen to the olympic swimming pool.
(which of course happens too).

I am glad you are not the one deciding who can or cant take part in the olympics as you would clearly ruin it.
If this belongs to me, i am not saying, it would be better with me selecting it, but it could hardly be more stupid then actual system, when there will be 3 riders from Belarus, Iran, Brazil...

I feel like you have a lot to learn about the olympics. Sorry
