weird style..like sprinting with cycles
But unlike Cavendish he is able to sprint alone in last kilometre
Cavendish is capable to that also.. |

Well, Edvald started alittle bit to early, and Degenkolb had perfect positioning. Was not much quicker.
He went from further back and had to dodge the leadout man, then just came past.
He was much quicker.
Seriously what do HTC do, one could probably argue that 50% of the top ten sprinters in the world have gone through their system.

My stream froze just as they launched the sprint. So typical. Nice win for Degenkolb anyway. What a bright future this guy has. |

Ehm.....Hagen and Degenkolb started to sprint at the same time. No doubt Degenkolb was the best sprinter today, impressive victory, and an awesome Dauphine for him.
Not what im saying at all, i've been in EBH position tons of times. When you go you just see the finishline and can't chase. Degenkolb had that advantage in this sprint, he is in great form and is sprinting very well at the moment.

He could chase, and had a great sprint. Agreed

Degenkolb had to start his sprint from longer back and had to go around Julian Dean. I can't see what advantage that gives.

It's funny how you have quoted the norwegian commentator all way here.....First the commentator said Hagen started too early, then he realized they started sprinting at the same time......Then the commentator said Degenkolb had the advantage of chasing Hagen, and then you said the same
Please, bring a good argument to why it's an advantage to start 10 metres behind in a 220 metres sprint, without the advantage of the slipstream. Hagen chased the win, so did Degenkolb, where's Degenkolbs advantage?
Degenkolb had all the disadvantages in that sprint, he started behind Hagen, he had to dodge the leadout man from Garmin(!?), and still he won. And his speed at the end of the sprint was superb to Hagen.
Having said all this, it was a nice sprint from Hagen, his acceleration was surprisingly good. And it looks like a nice build-up for the Tour for him. Hopefully he will be in top form in this years Tour de France. |

Without having looked close at the finish of the first stage in the Tour de France, i guess that EBH will have good chances there.
Hillis: Come on. No advantage of starting the sprint behind EBH in the other side of the road. He was simply just faster today.
.. and Farrer, once again. The most overrated sprinter, maybe rider, in the peloton right now. I wouldn't surprise me if he blame it on the dead of Wouter Weylandt. Poor Farrar. |

He's had some difficult weeks since Weylandt's death. I understand that he isn't performing on top level.

I saw the stage and see where you coming from Looks very good for him actually, won't win but defintely will be up there for another good place.
Impressive Degenkolb, though I agree Hagen is not at his peak yet, whereas Degenkold most probably is. Still great sprint.

the last climb tomorrow is not steeper than 6% at it hardest part.
Hagen to win, or a late attacker like Voeckler. |

Have you ever been in a mass-sprint finish? Apperently not. All im saying is that is in the riders head. If you see somebody in front of you, it's easier to go faster because then you can chase. All im saying. After this whole "Hushovd issue" a couple of months ago, it's impossible to say anything to defend or praise an norwegian rider. Everybody jumps at you. Jesus.

The argument is in the post above. And i watch the norwegian eurosport with the mute function on, if Stoltenberg isn't on.

It pains me to say it but Farrar is way over rated. He has his moments but his positioning and his decisions ruin him. I know that the last month has been tough so I am judging him on more than just today. |
