What's the argument with "bringing the sport down" ? Don't tell He doped, because He is cycling ?
Did you read the rest of the interview? The "bringing the sport down" isn't about Lance, it's about all the doping scandals of the last few years. |

Yes, I read it all. But I felt there was an understatement, a bit like : "Did you consider that testifying against Lance Armstrong could bring the sport down, even much more than where it already is because of other scandals. Is bringing cycling down (sole consequence of testifying against L.A.) what you really want ?".

You are reading way too much into it. George is not a guy who goes for a big quote to get his name in the headlines. He is from the old school where Omerta was the rule of thumb with doping. Plus he may have doped himself so he could just be interested in self preservation. |

He's been DS of:
- Kelme
- Phonak
- Xacobeo
Yep, the farther from the sport he gets, the better for everybody.

Scott-Verylongname has been suspended, and effectively disbanded. The riders have left as they haven't been paid in a long time.

Yes, but it was nice to see a Pro Continental, South American team. |

Allan Davis will win the worlds.
Ok, seriously: Gerrans could be one to watch actually.

Our selectors are on drugs. No Haussler, McEwen or Renshaw? |

You have to pick the right guys for the course, selectors probably just think it's too hilly for them.

Yea i understand all that. But as McEwen said on twitter "i don't think there are 9 aussies better suited to geelong course than myself.", i think they have made a poor choice. And the hills would seem perfect for Haussler, he has proven on one day races he can stick with the bunch and push himself harder than anyone. |

One way to make a selection of 9 riders is to pick the strongest 9 and then share roles between leaders, team mates, etc.
The other way is to pick your leaders (2 or 3), and pick the ones who'll fill the team mates role the best. Those ones aren't necessarily other potential leaders.
I mean, is the best way to win a "race for a sprinter" to pick your 9 fastest men ? Not at all. Would McEwen accept to launch whoever's sprint ? Unsure. Get the idea ? |
