Well i'm not defending them, but they aren't such as bad as we try to tell. Anyway, interesting to see in stage4 how much time BMC will lose, because the BMC riders (except Bookwalter and Cadel) rode a poor ITT yesterday.
At least Terzian always recognises his lack of skills . He's pretty passionate too. |

Only just got to see the stage.
Overall the results were as were expected. None of the main favourites did worse than usual, nor better than usual.
Which in itself is quite unusual.
Nice ride by Wiggins. He came here to win 3 specific stages and roll around in the pack the rest of the time. Even if he fails miserably at the other two, his Giro's already a success.
And nice rides by Bookwalter (big surprise) and Porte (not so much, but he was the fastest by quite a margin in the second half)
Roll on stage 2.
Greipel vs. Farrar vs.....who else?
Certainly not Petacchi. I get the impression he's far too old and slow. He's a zero compared to what he was even last year (not to mention 5-6 years ago)

watch out for Uran Im telling you ^^ He seems to be the cd leader.. because there is no other real tour specialist in there team besides arroyo.. So Uran could make a change, atleast for the best young rider yersey.. and maybe even for top 5. Nibali or basso are big contenders too with Cadel
Take it easy there poindexter. Urán doesn't even have any great results in mountain stages....well, ever. So to say he can do top 5 is a little bit insane.

vs Modolo. Watch out. Until we hit about stage 10, then I'd reckon a lack of a grand tour in his legs will tell a tale.

My video's on to the podium now.
Is it me or does Wiggins look bored?
I hope he doesn't look like that when he comes back for the jersey. I absolutely loathed Vande Velde (and he's a guy I like a lot) when he looked bored with the jersey 2 years ago.

Maybe it was the fact he was so hyped up for the stage and getting a job done, that he hadn't the time to the win set in? I don't know, I didn't see the podium.

Let's hope so.
In other news, Greipel's got stomach problems. Let's hope we don't have more sprinters pulling out. Bennati and Freire were bad enough already.
EDIT: Wiggins with the jersey now. Much better, that's what we like to see

Disagree here. 9th in Tour de Suisse 2007, when he was 20, climbing better than Gesink in the Tour of Germany where Gesink in the end finished 5th, but Uran made that horrible fall in the downhill
2nd in the Volta of Catalunya that same year (2008) also
5th in Romandie 2009 as last result, but like I said, 2009 was kind of a recovery year, since the fall in downhill cost him some of his normal level.
I won't go as far as top 5 like above, but saying he has never shown anything in mountains is also overdoing it.

How does that relate to never being great in the mountains? In the only real mountain finish he was 20th.

No argument from me, I don't remember that at all.

Which had no mountains anywhere near a stage finish.

Again, no mountain finish. Other than Kreuziger's attack, the rest finished in big groups.

I said he's never had any great results in the mountains. That's very different from "never showing anything"

I think he's genuinely happy to put that jersey on, even if it's one day, it's an achievment and the Giro has been good for him.

Maybe McEwen has a little left in the tank. Otherwise Graeme Brown? L.S. Haedo?

Petacchi is younger than McEwen isn`t he? But nonetheless both of them are quite old and Petacchi shouldbe the faster one i think.
I guess it will be Greipel before Petacchi, Farrar, Modolo... |

Anyone got any idea what the finale is like in Utrecht?
I am assuming as its in a pretty big city centre there will be a long flat run in. In which case Griepal should be favoured in a Columbia leadout, though it should be very interesting to see how Sky and Garmin approach it in that case. Then again it is Holland so may be a tight smallish road whereby positioning will be key ...
As far as Petacchi is concerned, I think he will be better in Italy he has been picking up some pretty consistent results there.
The others in a sprint, I am interested to see how Modolo and lets add another name Sabatini do...

But i really don`t believe Sabatini can make a top3.
Greipel, Henderson, Petacchi, Modolo, McEwen, Farrar should be stronger. |

Arh, I had missed Doddy's post.
I'm watching 3 football matches and the Giro. Commentary has been disabled on everything except one of the matches - and whenever I turned to see the Giro, it seemed quite boring |

Indeed. At least there is a helicopter again, but still boring. But what did you except of a totally flat stage without chance of the first four to win on stage 2. |
