my selection for kit/new wheels consists of: does it look good? or does it suit my kit?

Exactly, though if you know were to look you can get very good deals on nice bikes.

Since I finished Uni (well, nearly - in August), and I already got a job - I decided to splash out and get myself a decent steed. Should be getting a Specialized Roubaix Expert in the post in the next 14 days...
I know its not quite the top level, but its much better than my current bike - a Ribble 7005 SL Aluminium frame with Mirage finishing kit and Aksium wheels. It cost me just over £600 pound a couple of years back for my 21st, and its served me well, but it doesn't compare to the Specialized! |

rjc said stage races - entirely different thing - he would probably want tribars for a tt stage in a stage race

I know; it's been pointed out, Freudian slip or sommat on my behalf.
43 miles yesterday, all in the big ring. Somehow my legs aren't dead - despite going out last night. |

I did a Criterium yesterday and narrowly avoided hitting the ground. A crash of 5 guys happened right in front of me and I swerved into a couple others to avoid it, got hit in the right thigh by a flying bike and rolled over someones wheel, then sprinted to catch back up. The crash was in response to an attack and the pace so we were at 45 k's an hour when it happened. Unfortunitley my teamate broke his collarbone.

I've asked this before Levi, what level do you ride at, as you talked about sprinting vs. a Collativa guy |

That race was a 17-18 Juniors Race. My elite Category is 4. However the harder races are always the Junior ones. the Fields around here are extremely competative and you would be hard pressed to find anywhere in the US were so many great juniors live, train and race than in California.
Colavita has dozens of regional clubs and a national level Juniors Program. The Colavita guy who I beat in a sprint several months ago in a race for 3rd was also struck with comparable luck that I was. He flatted the first lap and sprinted back into the pack only to get caught in the crash like I was. So it was me, Greg (the Colavita guy) and one of my teamates trying to chase back into the field but at that point there were attacks from Specialized and Davis BC driving an already fast pace even higher. the Race was neutralized as an ambulence took my teamte to the hospital and when we started with 4 to go we did so at staggered times to simulate the way the gaps between a break of 2 and the field then us. At that point it was all about beating Greg for me. Its always nice to beat him. Last time I rode with him I beat him in a pracitce sprint and when I told my coach she said that beating him is all that matters It was funny cause Greg left our strong team so he could race solo as the only Colavita Junior in Nor Cal.
So I told my teamate Sam to hit the front with half a lap to go and hammer it after I pulled off the front. Greg made me lead out and I started my kick with 250 to go. I dodged between the bot dots in the center of the road and sprinted in with 4-5 bike lengths. Since 70% of the field was 15-16's I think though I am not sure that I was top 10 of the 17-18 even if I finished half a lap down.

Tha would be poor recovery. After a race/ride the recovery window closes 30 minutes after you finish. Eating something, preferably carbs is essential.
For example I am going to feel like shit tomorrow because I did two crits this morning but didn't eat anything solid except for a clif bar until 2: I got 9th in the Junior 17-18 anyways and my team captain won!
The Pro Race was awesome. BMC (meaning Mike Sayers and Jackson Stewart) had to contend with Rock Racing(Sterling Magnell who nailed my teamate with a snot rocket at the top of the 23% 150 meter long hill) and Cal Berry Giant team (Team of Andy Jauques-Maynes, BJM's twin) Also in the race and most importantly was my Team's captain who was doing the 2's. His 2nd race as a 2 he stuck in the Pro field. He's a champ. The field was packed however and Cal Berry Giant attacked 10-15 times in 90 minutes but only took second. A local Cat 1 took the win being first around the corner of the decent of the hill. Mike Sayers was a beast but after Sayers brought back the break Stewart couldn't followup.
That hill was a bitch. I was at the top when a Pro's Dura-Ace Derailure desintegrated right in front of me. I found in my races that the best way to take it was to hit it in the small Chainring and sit in the saddle as long as you could and only stand up when you had too. That strategy worked well. I finished in the second group on the road and was second wheel going into the final corner with 3-4 bike lengths between me and the guy in front of me (the road was comprised to cracked concrete slabs which were pre-fabricated on another location because of the hills) and won that sprint with a bike throw.

Now it must be about time i write here to, i don't ride much, but use my racingbike to ride to school, and sometimes i ride somthing like 40-50 kilometers or something like that. But around here where i live there is no good hills, which is bad since i don't weight over 50 kilo, but about 60 kilometers from where i live there are some of the hardest hills in the country, and there is a lot of them.B) |

I did 2 crits at a local Twilight series. The 3/2/1 pro race had 3 of my teamates, Scotty Nydam, Sterling Magnel and about 25 other locals. Magnel won ahead of Scotty. Sterling's (contrary to the misconception that clouds Rock Racing) is a really nice guy. Come to think of it all of the rock guys I know are nice.

Ugh, fastest average ever - 33km/h for 35km. And the first half was a warm-up... 37-42km/h most of the way back, and an ill-advised attack before the "finish" finished me off. Ouch.
On the plus side, I think I'm improving |

I'm riding because it's fun and id do cycle about every 2nd day... Just for fun... Today i went by train to Frederikshavn to ride the route for a race i'm going to take part in at next sunday.... The half of the route is up and down all the time... And i'm pretty big and heavy so i'll have some problems at the hills.... The route is about 47 km. and last year i raced it in 1 hour and 37 min.... Today i raced the route alone in 1 hour and 33 min. wich is 4 four min. faster... With that time i would last year end as number 7.... Last years winner raced in 1 hour and 25 min.... So i'm hoping at leats to get number 5....

I did the Tuesday Twilight Crits again(4/5 then 3/4). I jacked a Collavita's guys spot on the start line and was in the front echelon on the neutral lap. Then the 3 of us on the front (me, Greg (again) from Collavita and the guy who puts the race on Lars, decided to attack the first lap. We did and after we were pulled back 3 laps in I fell to the back and slowly moved to the front in time for the last 3 laps when I saw our teams big sprinter (6 foot 6 200lbs and hes 15) on the front getting swarmed so I went on the attack again this time with a different Collavita guy and Lars again and we had a good gap heading into the second to last lap.the pack chasing and I could see our sprinter (who was second the week before) 3rd wheel when he attacked to bridge. He cam up and I started yelling at the guy and he flew right past us. we got caught last lap and I lost about 20 places as I raised my hands when I saw Brentley put his up.
I did the second race and ended up in the first attack. we were caught again and I spent the rest of the race working for Brentley and our lone female teamate who lives in this area (who technicaly isn't on our team as her racing age is 19, My coach started the u23 womens team specifically for her, she keeps winning races and she is HOT) because the top finisher from the women got 30$. Brentley and I spent the rest of the race sittin on the back suffering.
All in all a good race. Brentley owes me big time now and I have some good pics for... oh wait that is a suprise
