The good part about this stage being a time trial is that as soon as Armstrong finishes, the TV will stop fliming him and will actually show the race for once

He is one of, if not the biggest name in cycling. So should not be that big of a surprise. |

Nah, once he's finished, we'll probably just get to see Astana's bus for the rest of the stage. |

Yes. I've changed my mind. Even if somebody managed to do less than 1:30, the Giro won't remove all the sprinters from the race (or at least a good part of them) and like 20-30 another riders too. Even if there is a time limit, race officers can change it if race results were unexpected.

And first time check doesn't mean anything. The important section is the second climb.

Judging by the number of non climbers that did well at the second climb and are way behind at the finish, I'd say that even that time check doesn't mean anything, because it's clear a lot of people are blowing up completely in the last 10kms.

I've been wondering about the same.
Does anyone know when we last had a TT this long in a major tour? |

1994 Giro. Berzin put 2 and a half minutes into the godlike time triallist IndurĂ¡in
And I believe it was the 91 Tour (not sure) that had a 73 or so km ITT....that IndurĂ¡in won, of course.
Both those TTs were flat, though.
