Here is another one that I have used a few times https://www.mesmeride.com/ creates profiles of your rides of Strava. The best one is the Giro style profile that it creates, great when you do a ride with alot of climbs
Had a good look at this now and the profiles look great. Would love to have a play around but the sites still down, seemingly until some more donations are received for the hosting or is there a legit paid for route to access too? :/ |

Maybe it's isso, lol.
I thought I couldn't stand it when it was 10 C and windy a few days ago, only to check this thread to see people experiencing negative temps!
Spoiler It was 25 C and sunny today though. Just a tad too warm.

Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

I've checked your last few rides (I know you didn't ask for that), and I'm quite curious to know if your heart monitor is working fine.
Your heartbeat remained very low,(most of times between 50 and 100, on your last ride, dropping to ~50 bpm in a long descent.
That's either very good, either your heart watch is having a problem. |

I wish that was my real heartbeat but it's a problem in monitor. My heart beat is still a bit low, i have 33 at rest and the peak in about 178-181 in races.
My Garmin has having a few issues regarding the heart monitor and i think it's the strap.
This is my second strap and in all of them only worked well in the first 2-3 months (don't ask me why) despite following all the recomendations for well-functioning.
Tomorrow i will change again the battery, maybe it's the cause.

Oh, and you can see my training rides, ofc.
I'm also open to any recommendations or critics about them. I don't have any trainer, i'm only following my sensations and a homemade training plan which i made.

Oh well, I'm far from a trainer, I don't know what you're aiming for, what you're capable of, etc. So, besides generalities you've probably heard or read a thousand times I'm not sure I have a lot of interesting stuff to add.
Especially when I see all the various training models around, I'm starting to think it leads to more questions than answers.
I saw you're using a power meter, which is quite a useful tool. That's already a good start.
From your last ride : working strength, that's the time of the year. You did most at 55 RPM, at least if Strava shows proper informations (which is not always case). It's fine to always do approximately the same number during one ride, but different numbers should be used in different rides (anything between 40-50 and 70). |

I wish i had, but the power numbers you see it's Strava who are "estimating" it.
My first peak is around late March, right now i'm making some endurance and strength rides. In my strength rides i'm doing about 2:30m in 50-60 rpms in the same climb to compare my efforts. I'm in the third week and i think i'm a bit tired because of the training i made so far and the lack of "Base" yet. Next week it'll be a recovery week and i'm planning to do a test in tuesday to compare with my first test of the season.
After that i'll begin introducing some Z3 efforts in my Build 1 block.

It seems that the problem was in the battery, i replaced it and today the hr monitor worked well.
Today i made 120kms in my zone 2 (130-140), 28.6km/h avg. I felt great all the training and noticed the improvement in endurance.
The earlier trainings in fasted state are playing a big role because i'm eating way less than before and never felt a bit hungry.

How did you define your zones, btw. ? |

Great question. In my previous test i found my LTHR, which is around 160, and i've estabilished my zones by a table in the Joe Friel's book "Training Bible".
I don't consider them the "golden rule" which i must follow in all my trainings but a reference in order not to exceed myself when i can't (eg Recovery rides) and push a little harder when i must to.

I have had to back off a bit this week, I caught a cold a month or so back and just rode through it whilst working silly hours and never fully recovered. It is difficult to tell myself to slow down as we are coming into our summer and I am not far off my 20,000 k's goal the year.

From my experience, my LTHR had a variation of 8 bpm in just one season, so I'd be careful when handling that data, especially as LTHR is a very questioned concept.
I'd say the clever way to go would be to use something like Borg's perceived exertion scale, especially if you're used to relying on your feelings :
If you go with the rather classic 7 zones, 1 would be around 9 on that scale, 2 would be around 11, 3 would be 13, 4 would be 16, 5 would be at least 18.
Zones 6 and 7 are for lactic and neuromuscular, you don't need a scale to know when you're working them.
Personally, to determine my zones, which might vary less now that I'm twice the age I was back when my numbers varied much, I've become more fond of using Fred Grappe's method, based on the maximal HR (the one you've actually seen, not a theoretical one).
Zone 1 is then 65-75 %, 2 is 75-85, 3 is 85-92, 4 is 92-96 and 5 is 96-100 %. Your LTHR should be around 92 there.
The two other zones don't really combine with heart rates.
Isn't Friel more of an expert for triathlon than pure cycling ? The basic concepts to manage forms and objectives are the same anyway. |

Thanks.
I know that the ideal training would be with a power meter, instead i have to stick with the good old heart rate training.
Based in the method you posted the heart rate zones vary about 5 bpm from Friel's method. I found them more suited for me because i find it extremely difficult to raise my heart rate more than about 90% of my maximum found in the races. Because of that i tend to choose a little bit lower heart rates limits for my training.
Joe Friel is cited in many articles and information related to cycling training so i think it have some credibility.

Took a new bike cam (and camera crew) out for a spin at the weekend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhabgv...O-d6GPKS7t
Especially enjoyed doing the downhill, backwards, front wheel descent... |

New follower on twitter, a guy living in the same town as me.
Described as a sojasun espoir rider, his avatar looks like a sojasun guy who's winning a bunch sprint.
Googled him and he's won big espoir and junior races, track stuff, etc.
Getting ready to say farewell to the truckload of KOM's I own in the neighbourhood in 3... 2... 1... |

At least you can say you're second only to such talent. I was pleased to go all of top 50 (of 2500) on one of the nastiest climbs near me the other day |
